     Admin notes: Didn't do one monday as you probably figured out.
     Had not many actions so just figured I'd do one for Friday.  So
     we'll move on.  Hope to get more actions by Monday as then the
     actual combat will likely get harder and start.

     [New Stuff  - Current Situation]

     From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
        Z'leyra suggests "If we can outrun it, great, lets do so. If not,
        lets turn into the wind and stop so we can fight without
        seperating from the ship."

        "Someone can try talking to it, maybe it just wants to bandy
         words. I doubt it, I will prepare for battle. It would be
         helpful if when battle starts, someone casts an illusion that
         blinds it."

         "My personal plan is to go invisible, levitate, then teleport
          above and behind it in point blank range to shoot it in its
          spinal cord from behind and with surprise. Try to avoid hitting
          me with area weapons please."

         Because with levitation she only has a PMR of 1 Z'leyra wants
         the ship to be stopped and the Sea Giant to be almost alongside
         the ship before she teleports. Otherwise she would rapidly
         fall behind both the ship and the Sea Giant.

         The reason for her action is to maximise the possibility of a
         Severe, Deadly or even Fatal hit. It would work better if the
         Sea Giant is blinded (and much better if she actually had skill
         with a ranged weapon). If the Sea Giant is doing too much damage
         she will close and attack with her axe (which she IS skilled
         with) hoping to get a lucky hit....but she is unlikely to retain
         the bonuses with a melee weapon beyond the first hit.

         Along with what she announced to everyone, Z'leyra will suggest
         tactics to the eagle "Fly above the fight, only attack from above
         and behind, with surprise, if you feel you need to be in the
         fight. This is a fight we do not seek, but I will not shirk as
         I must help my comrades."

         She will ready her longbow and quiver of arrows as well as her
         axe (if arrows fail she may close with the axe).  When the
         timing is right she will cast Invisibility; Luck at the maximum
         EL possible with Tongue; Levitate; Teleport then start shooting.

         Because with levitation she only has a PMR of 1 she wants the
         ship to be stopped and the Sea Giant to be adjacent to the ship
         before teleporting.
     GM: Ack. 

     From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
        Happy Thanksgiving!
        Ben'Dar grabs the drum that is used to pound out the rhythm for
        the slave rowers and he screams, "Ramming Speed!!!!" and starts
        thumping out an insanely fast beat:  *thump* *thump* *thump*
        *thump* Oh wait...it's Ben'Dar, not Ben'Hur....  Sorry, I couldn't
        resist.....  ;-)

        Well since Ben'Dar still can't communicate too well, he probably
        won't be able to contribute strategy too well as everyone rushes
        around...  Ben'Dar feels that an attempt at parlay may be advisable
        with such a fearsome adversary.  Maybe the giant just wants some
        food or treasure or something?  Anyone speak Giant?

        Actions:  Ben'Dar looks to Damon for orders.  Ben'Dar is willing
        to help fire the ship's weapons, or if he is not needed there, he
        will get to a position on the deck closest to the giant's probable
        approach and fire off as many arrows as he can as the giant
        approaches.  When the giant gets close, he will present himself
        as a target for the giant (shudder at THAT thought...a Ben'Dar--
        shish-kabob), fighting with his new pike and trying to create a
        good opportunity for spellcasters in the group to do their thing.

        Ben'Dar cannot swim, so if he gets tossed around, he will
        desperately grab at ropes or whatever to keep from falling
        overboard.  If he does fall overboard, he will concentrate on
        holding onto something that floats (including the giant) to
        keep from drowning.

        Vote:  I vote for at least 2 phases per email during combat. To be
        honest, I would probably be ok with 3 or 4 or more combat phases
        per email.  We could just give the GM our general intentions, a
        few specific initial actions and several possible follow-up
        actions and let him take it from there.
     GM: Hope you had good turkey day!  Heh.  On the ramming thing, the
       ship in my eye is more 16th century design no slaves or rowers
       but pure sails.  If you are on the main pnp list you'll eventually
       see me do a full ship module for the game that I hope will reform
       my beliefs in such ships - I read two full books on the subject
       of ancient ships so have better idea of ship design now. :)  But
       for now I like the 16th galleon type idea of ships for now.
       As to actions very heroic.  Thanks.   Vote noted.

        OOC: Sorry for the delay.
        Jordi says: "Wait a second, Z'leyra."
        Jordi, trying to move slowly, so the Giant doesn't get the
        impression that we are hostile, casts a "Luck" spell on himself.

        (OOC: repeat until succesful).  After that, he casts it on
        Z'leyra (she will need it if she carries her plan) (OOC: repeat
        until succesful), and then on Neva (OOC: sorry, guys, but she
        is Jordi's girl.).

         After that, he cast the spell on Ben'dar, Unali, Farseeker...
         (OOC: I have the strong intuition that Jordi won't have enough
         time to do it...).
     GM: Ack.  Luck on you, Z'leyra and Neva, Ben'dar, Unali, Farseeker.
       Will do in that order. 

     From Z'leyra: [Re: reply to Jordi's actions]
       Z'leyra motions Jordi to skip her as she already is casting that
       spell on herself  (if he casts it at better than EL2 it would still
       help her). She just hadn't mentioned it (except to Scott) because
       she did not want to be kept busy in future encounters casting Luck
       on everyone when she was busy with her own plans and actions.
       Good idea though. Thanks for the thought.
     GM: Ack.

     [The ship becomes total chaos as those in the party and those
      not in the party go here and there.  Orders are shouted and
      weapons readied.  Many silenly or loudly shout prayers in
      their own languages.]

     [Aren gathers Marta close and both organize the diplomats to
      gather their weapons.  Most likely don't know how to fight
      on a moving ship or swim so many of them begin to panic at
      the sheer sight of the creature.  But with Aren's help they
      only stay frantic and not a full blown panic to becomes problems]

     [Balrog heads to the one ship weapon installed.  There was no
      room for 2 weapons on the ship.  So only one ballista weapon
      was installed from the warships.]

     [Caladan has no problem with the swaying ship and can swim.  So
      he stays admidships and watches the beast.  He ponders what
      kind of spell to use.  He has 3 possibles..He gives slight
      hand signals to the firesnake..]

     [Chion stands near Caladan and watches the beast..]

     [Damon is the most busy of those on the ship.  He shouts
      multiple fast orders..Including to tigthen ropes and fix
      the sails into certian configuration...orders everyone
      on deck as it'll be safer if the ship begins to sink...etc.]

     [Farseeker comes up on deck with great sword sheathed, a large
      lance in hand and a axe on his back ready for action.  He
      stands firm on the deck.]

     [Kasha can't swim or hold his footing on deck so grabs his
      mace and shield and heads for a railing to hold on in case
      of battle.]

     [Trembyl grabs his arbalest and loads it while pondering
      what magic he could use.  He stands firm on the deck.]

     [Triest takes position on deck then runs to the masting with
      his heavy crossbow on back.  He begins to climb the rigging
      so he could get a heightened spot for for firing on a small
      rigging platform only inches wide but enough to prop the
      crossbow on.]

     [Xian neither able to fight well on deck or swim wonders how
      far it is to mainland for a good teleport?...]

     [Unali watches the beast..]

     [Z'leyra readies her gear as above..]

     [Ben'dar grabs his pike and heads for a ship's weapon that
      is on the left of the ship...]

     [Kaylle takes to the air and hovers and wonders what he
      can do..if anything..]

     [Thig quietly forward ship gathers up his gear into his
      bag and looks the beast over while doing so...Kaylle spots
      him and flies over..]
     Kaylle: "What are you doing?"
     Thig: "I'm not staying here...to die.."
     Kaylle: "You can't leave!  We will need your help..."
     Thig: "Can't stop me. 
     Farseedker: "What's going on?"
     Kaylle: "Hes trying to flee."
     Farseeker: "We have no time for this!  You leave your dogs are
       going overboard or eaten or drown..."
     Thig: "You...he..they..fine!" [He puts the bag down and grabs
       his repeating crossbow...]

     [Neva prepares her bow and tries to stand near some boxes for
      balance on the shifting deck..]

     [Jordi does his actions above...]

     [The Eagle calmly sitting on top the rigging watches the
      giant with interest but no alarm.  It simply eyes it and listens
      to Z'leyra talk to it from far below.  As the giant approaches
      it takes to the air but circles high above far out of reach..]

     [As everyone prepares the Giant leans slightly closer and with
      his large eyes peers at the ship.  The hand holding the large
      net has his fingers move as if trying to count something.
      But the look on the giant's face seems to indicate hes having
      trouble counting..it finally gives up then starts to walk toward
      the ship..while on the water]

     [The ship moves quickly through the water moving 40 feet in just
      a second with the help of the wind and Sava's powerful friendly
      current spell.  But the giant plots a intercept course and
      tries to run toward the ship.  In just one turn the giant reaches
      400 feet closer to the ship while the ship reaches 530 feet
      further eastward.  This makes the ship actually pass the giant
      and for a brief few seconds it looks as if the ship will speed
      past the giant.  By now the giant is only 120 feet from the
      ship.  It realizes this as well and suddenly dives into the
      water.  The wave and splash creates a surge and rocks the
      ship.  Soon the giant is lost under the waves but it begins
      to swim under the water.  Those on the ship hold their breath
      and hope they can outrun it.  Five or six seconds later the
      giant reaches directly behind the ship but by now is 250-270
      feet behind the ship.  It looks as if the ship will out run
      the giant.  Unfournately the spell that gives the ship's speed
      boost also helps the giant's speed.  Within seconds it overtakes
      the ship underwater alongside the ship.  It passes the ship and
      50 feet from the ship he climbs back onto the water.]

     [Damon quickly sees a collison coming and shifts the wheel to
      swing the ship to starboard.  He only gives a quick "hold"
      warning to hold onto something but many fall down as the
      ship quickly takes to the right and strain makes the wood
      moan and groan.  The ship begins to slow as it moves into
      the wind and slowly begins to stop.  The giant begins to
      slowly walk toward the ship with a smirk on its face.  He
      raises the net up over his shoulder and holds it out in his
      left hand.  Its clear the giant is hostile.   Damon and
      Farseeker order free to fire at any time..]

     Turn 1: Phase 1

     [Mana Allocation]

       [Caladan, Jordi and Trembyl continue to allocate mana..]

     [Missile Fire]

       [Most of the fire all occurs at the same time]

       [Thig fires at 5 hexes with his crossbow and the bolt hits
        the giant in the abdomen doing 12 points to the giant..]

       [Triest fires his heavy crossbow and hits also doing 4 points
        to the giant.]

       [Xian fires his arbalest and hits doing 5 points of damage]

       [Neva fires her bow but the arrow just bounces off the giant.]

       [Ben'dar and Balrog with help of 2 Diplomats finish loading
        the ballista weapona and fire it.  Five arrows miss the
        giant entirely but the other 7 hit.  One penetrates deep
        into a critical area while 6 just do normal hits.  A total
        of 39 points of damage is done...]

     [Magic Effect]
        [Jordi casts luck already on himself, Neva, Ben'dar,
         and Unali.  Now he finsihes up and casts it on Farseeker.]

        [Caladan and Trembyl wait as their magic range is not far
         enough to affect the creature 50 feet away..]

        ]Z'leyra now invisible casts levitation on herself and
         she begins to float just inches off the deck.  She
         prepares for her teleport spell.]

     [Melee and Movement]

        [Everyone prepares if the giant closes..]

        [The Giant walks closer another 30 feet..]

     Only one phase will be done for this combat.

     Here is the situation.

     Giant is now 2 hexes away.  At its walking speed it will reach
     the ship end of next phase.  The giant is on the port (left)
     side of the ship.  The ship has slowed down to only a slow
     speed and is slowing down.  In order for those to fight it will
     have to be stopped completely.  Sava may be releasing the speed
     spell its hard to tell at this point.  The missile wapons other
     than Neva's bow will have to be reloaded and this will take
     time.  Magic will fire off before the giant reaches the ship
     however keep in mind only Neva's bow will fire next phase.

     Monday I'll do phase 2 of the combat.  If needed I can do a map
     but don't think tis required?

     The creature has taken a total of 60 hits to it.  This virtually
     halves it down.  Its hurt and bleeding in multiple locations.
     The only problem is now its a bit angry...

     Actions? Comments?
