         --------------------------------------------------------------------
         [New Stuff]

         [Ma 3rd, 1636TH]
         [Time: 1:16 pm – South-East of Ma'Dor]

Dorhak hears the second riddle and ponders an answer.

            Dorhak gives the new word.

Dorhak’s right eyebrow raises and he
just stares at the wards for a few seconds.

Finally a riddle a dwarf should know in their heart.

"Well, it’s either snakes in a hot
frying pan, or a coin. I guess 'coin'."

            Raddok asks, "Love?"

Arawn adds love to the second riddle
answers from Dorhak through his spell.

            Arawn sat, seemingly in meditation
while Dorhak called out the answer to the next
riddle. The Alfar seemed comfortable with the
dwarf's answer, awaiting the next riddle and,
hopefully, a chance for the party to rejoin their fellow.

The wall glows gray and the voice
says, “coin is correct.” The wards form a bright
yellow and static seems to erupt in the area with
the barrier that forced Dorhak not to hear others ends. “One final thing...”

Velf glares at Arawn, “no time to
sit!” He claps his hands together and grins. “None have gotten this far!”

Velf looks eager to cross while
Barbosa looks ready to throw Velf off the edge into the abyss.

The Wall changes into a glowing gray
white and a area the size of 5x5 feet. The form is almost like a door.

But in this case a slew of runes and writing forms.

            Dorhak curse...and with good
reason. He mutters to himself what he can read
as a Dwarf. To give others the chance to read he
paces back and forth to give a glimpse of the
writing. His muttering is low and barely heard
as if Dorhak doesn't want to repeat the words – or something else.

It is translated by Raddok who has to strain to hear Dorhak as:

This we love more than life,
                 <something> more than death,
                 The rich want it,
                 The poor have it,
                 The <something> spends it,
                 And the <something> saves it?

The voice simply adds, “What is it?”

dorhak looks over the writing and
runes. He hates riddles. He concentrates on the
middle part since it seems the most
complete. His first instinct is to say 'money'
or 'gold', as the rich always want more. But the
poor certainly don’t have that. Then he gets a
stroke of inspiration. Better to depend on ones
wits rather than good looks. Easier, too,
especially when he doesn’t have any looks to speak highly of.

            Raddok translates the third riddle,
and his eyes lose focus in thought.

"Tadpole! No, no, no - fish! dolphin?
whale? merperson Good grief, too many." He
doesn't dare look at runes for a clue, as if he
would understand one out of fifty anyway.

Dorhak looks back at the group and
hopes they will all be alright. Except for the
human scum that brought them here, of course. He
could, and should, revert to the fertilizer that
he is. Well, he also hopes that he will be alright too!

Dorhak takes a big breath and lets it
out, trying to relax. He takes a breath and
declares the word in Dvallin. "Nothing".

The runes fade. “Correct noble dwarf.”

The wards turn to a light
green. Then at center of the two wards a yellow
circle almost eye like forms. Then two yellow
beams hit Dorhak's head for an eternity but ends
only 3 seconds later with no pain at all.

The yellow beams stop and then bounce
in the air behind Dorhak. The beams seem to
magic a exclusionary set of images.

            They shows several statues.

A stone one of a brave dwarf raising a mace possibly in victory?

A metal looking statue of a dwarf holding a hammer and chisel.

A bronze like one in color of a dwarf
with gold like objects in one hand and a book in
the other. The Dwarf is elderly as his beard is long.

A Ice looking statue of a dwarf
fighting a giant with mace & shield. It looks
like a equal fight and unsure who will win.

This is in the tiny space so its in
small scale maybe a 1-3 feet wide and 4-5 tall.

The voice simply asks. "What do you consider the best?"

            Dorhak studies the small
statues. Finally not a riddle. But why ask him?

Arawn stands and wonders if this is a
test of character or humility?

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update...Saturday?

GM: I sent the last bit to him in email
so added the last part above. Why it includes
his answer to 3rd riddle. Last 2 were soft ball
ones. To help move things along. I'm glad I
stumped you guys on my original 1st riddle. ;)
But a pbem is hard for a place like
those. Thanks for all those who posted. Now I'm
in Jacksonville FL NE FL. The hurricane may be
35-55 (the eye) miles to the east. Who knows how
it will affect us. But I suspect water and power
outages. So I could be offline for a few days
(late tue-frish?? If I'm not back by Sat/Monday
Alex can let you guys know. Thanks for patience.
