     [Recap]

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra will glance at the wounded prisoners, if none are in
the process of dying she will tell the party in Marentian "I...
GM: Ack. As with Arawn's post I didn't get this post in my email.
So had to get it from Archives. :<

        From Will: [Re: Actions]
OOC: Will thinks Z's idea of moving on is a good idea.

"Maybe Zhou would be willing to stay and lead the group we...

OOC: Does your chain give a 13 modifier that plus the wand
should give me a reasonable chance of bumping my AV up by 1
which may help keep me alive for one more fight.
        GM: Ack.

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra will lend the spell chain to Will, giving him
          instructions on its use.
        GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

         [Augado 10th, 1634TH]
         [Location: Middle Katai Plains]
         [ Mountains west of Pamau]

         [Time: 1:46 pm]

Z'leyra will glance at the wounded prisoners, if none are in
the process of dying she will tell the party in Marentian "I
strongly suggest that we leave healing these folks till after
we have dealt with the Vong. If we muck about here we may lose
the element of surprise and might waste mana needed against the
Vong. When the Vong are dead we will know how much mana we can
use to help these victims. Also we won't be in such a hurry."

Will listens to Z'leyra and nods, "Maybe Zhou would be willing
to stay and lead the group we have rescued help them set up a
defense, look after the injured and so on while we move on and
try and destroy the Vong while we still have the element of
surprise. Just one or two things before we move on I need to
do a bit of healing and do something to my armor. Z'leyra did
you say I could borrow that spell chain of yours... I need to
do a quick and dirty enchantment on my armor."

           Farseeker grimly acknowledges Z'leyra, "I concur. We've
wasted enough time here. Let's get someone to take the prisoners
away and then we'll move on. They seem to be in good shape
to walk and crawl." Farseeker looks to Zhou.

Zhou looks for the first time in weeks speechless. He considers
the plea. He is here to lead the group in some fashion for his
Elder. He is here to prove himself to the eyes of the Dark Landers.
He wants to fight more and prove himself. But he glances at Kiet
who acts like some puppy making that effort difficult. Glancing
at the prisoners he considers his future stories by the Bards.
To lead some 30 or so folks to freedom from the vile Vong. He
finally turns and sighs. "Fine. I'll take them. I'll take
them to the forest as fast as we can."

Caladan chimes in, "the storm I made will be long gone. I feel
I may be needed here. But if you need I can try it again while
         you get to the forest."

Strie'bog's greenish skin glistens in the glow of the lichen
in the pit. "I can go with him. I may not be one of the best
fighters but I can give him support if needed. I suspect by
the time you get to the large cavern up there we'll be ready
to move to the forest. Maybe by then we can have enough of
them distracted by your presence they won't care? Besides,
I can do some of my own blocking. I can summon many forest
animals mainly birds to do some distractions or cover." He
smiles as if his mom told him about that very power yesterday.

Zhou looks to Kiet. "You could go with us and likely be out
of the fight or stay and get some more Vong using your sadistic
ropes like some bar whore who wants to punish her man."

Farseeker looks to Unali to see if this plan is okay but she has
been quiet the last few minutes. He wonders if she is a bit over
stimulated and overwhelmed by the presence of Katai prisoners. It
may bring home how desperately dire this whole situation is to her.
To see her family nearby and Empire threatened. Farseeker snuffles
a bit and looks to the door.

As Arawn listens to the others he is standing near Chion trying
to figure out his options. The group is clearly eager to move on.
Could they just leave the prisoners in the Embraces? Would they
do some hapless quick action to free them without thought? But
Arawn turns back to Chion after hearing his comments on his plan
for teleporting. Arawn smiled and nodded. "If anyone can do it
it would be you, Chion," he said with a grin. "And, Caladan, a
great idea and I would appreciate it very much. I'm hoping to
avoid having to do anything so drastic but it may have to come
to that if my other ideas don't work. Right now I'm hoping my
magical sapphire will be all that's needed to free them. It can
open any lock and I'm hoping that even with organic nature of
the nature of the devices that they will be susceptible."

Caladan grabs his war staff and waves toward the smaller cave.
         "Then let's get this going."

Chion and Arawn join Caladan heading toward the prisoner
smaller gave in the north. Mun sees this and approaches. Arawn
explains they are working on the idea to free them. But he
should remain with the others. Mun agrees and Farseeker plans
to stand guard to ensure privacy.

Zhou joins Mun and tells him of his plan to move the others
the way they came in and outside.

Arawn, Chion and Caladan enter the smaller cave then before
entering the Embrace of Pain outlines their quick options. Chion
and Caladan do not give much insight as they seem to favor
         Arawn's plan as good enough.

Arawn pulls out his sapphire from his bag. It shines almost
unusually in this bland light. Chion smiles as he knows the
use of this power all so well. He has open many locks the
same way, before he could just teleport through.

Arawn circles the people to get a good view and then picks
the one by the wall. Coming behind the man so hopefully he
won't see it he begins to touch the Embrace parts. But then
nothing seems to happen. He tries other parts. He is not sure
         how long it takes.

"It was a good idea." Chion adds to Arawn's frustration.

Arawn tries a few more times but the stone fails to unlock
the Embrace of Pain. He figures maybe the organic nature of
the device is not a lock for the stone to work. Maybe in
some way the Embrace is just an animal in an embrace not
a lock. It was a good thought though he realizes.

Arawn places the special sapphire in his bag and allocates
magical power for a open prison spell. Quietly in Sidh so
not to scare the man he casts the spell. He notices a small
spark as if the spell worked in his magical detection sense.
But nothing seems to happen. He had spent some long thoughts
on his metaphysical skills to try to break the lock on what
could seem to be the "elbow", "neck" or joint of the creature
that seems to be docile but not active. It doesn't seem to
even flinch to the spell. Maybe it is so resistant that the
         spell doesn't work.

Arawn joins Chion and Caladan to talk over some options.
He considers a Sonic spell to affect the torture device. There
is no empty Embrace so he can't experiment.

"I don't think that's a good idea." Caladan shakes his head.
"The sonic spell could make them react badly by killing or
hurting the people further. I think the teleport option is
         the best next step."

Meanwhile in the other prisoner area, Fremea holds Ta'ili in
her arms as she finishes her tale. Fremea sits a bit shocked
and amazed by the quick story. She heard of Fate as a kid how
it can be to see fate and destiny work. Now of all places to
learn what she has learned a thousand miles from home is beyond
         normal odds.

Hearing how Ta'ili's bugs are affecting her body in some sick
game by the Shapers, Fremea shows anger and then sadness. She
knows if a Giant in the Zen'da plains can be affected by these
Vongified bugs by Ezam's influence then certainly a small being
like Ta'ili has no chance. She knows Z'leyra could heal the
girl but for each organ healed, treated and regenerated another
could fail s the bugs react to each treatment. She grits her
teeth in anger at the Shapers for this religious doctrine that
they feel to show their gods how vile magic is.

Fremea knows what these bugs do to someone. She will not allow
it to happen to her own kind. "Forgive me for doing this my
sister, but you will not survive this." Taking her blade out,
she does her best to kill Ta'ili so she can not be revived by
         the bugs any further.

Fremea hesitates before the actual act. It seems so shameful
to kill a fellow Faerry but she doesn't want her to suffer. She
did ask for relief. Ta'ili looks up at Fremea and smiles
contently in quiet peace. "Do not be afraid. You will help me
more than you can know. I thank you."

Using her deft skills and some observation from Kiet she ends
the Faerry girl's life in a quick flick of her blade. It doesn't
take long and then Fremea drives the blade just below the ear so
to drive it to the brain. She doesn't want the bugs or the vile
Brain to make the girl survive by trying to heal her using some
Vong sadistic method. This will ensure that she can't be saved.

She gently places the girl on the cool ground and pulls out her
bag. First she dons her dress so not to scare the others. She
knows the other prisoners will need to be shown a girl not
a scary winged beast. She grumbles at the thought but hopes it
is a short time. Then Fremea places a spare half blanket over
the girl to give her dignity.

Fremea stands and exits the room with her gear. She walks
out for the first time after the combat. She finds the group
of prisoners and notices some are staring at her but they
don't seem to be fleeing in terror so far. She sees Zhou
and some man speaking of something about leading the prisoners
some place. She looks around and searches for Arawn and Chion
but doesn't see them. Finally she asks Farseeker and he directs
         her to them.

Those in the group can see Fremea's determination and resolve
seem to be changed slightly. She looks also very sad as if she
lost her favorite pet. As she enters the cave Kell is seen
         coming near the group.

Kell reports that the search of the Shapers on the far side
yields nothing. Strie'bog had finished this side of the pit
a few minutes earlier but Kell's searching has taken him a
         bit longer.

Inside the northern prisoner cave, Fremea finds the trio
about to perform the teleport and sleep process. Caladan
is nearing the Embraces and then notices Fremea entering.

It doesn't take a Alfar to know that Fremea's expression is
one of sadness and resolve. Fremea explains that she needs
Chion's help and that she whispers to Arawn about her spell
to free the Faerry. Arawn listens quickly to the story of
Ta'ili at least in terms of her being a prisoner but not
in the words given to Fremea. The three listen to Fremea
on the girl and how she had to end her.

Fremea gestures to the Embraces and explains to Arawn that
she used the Slay the Tame spell. Arawn raises a eyebrow
in surprise and grins. Of course, a simple solution to a complex
task. Sometimes over thinking thinks like this with such great
mental powers can be dangerous. Mentally Arawn considers
the spell. It does seem to affect pets and the Vong bugs
seem to be pets. He could even experiment on the map bugs
to see how that affects them. But if the spell worked once it
         could surely work again.

Chion turns to Arawn, "you going to try that spell? She
wants me to go with her."

Fremea explains she wants the body taken away from this place
         to safety.

Chion nods, "I can take her to the Faerry Hill back at the
Pavassa forest. It will take a jump or two but I can be there
and back in 10 minutes. Time enough to explain the situation
and return. Actually could also take her to the Zen'da tribe
or all the way back to Sivas. But I think she deserves to be
buried with her people there. Maybe they can get the Sidh to
return her to her family. Is that acceptable?"

Meanwhile while Zhou is organizing the retreat and Fremea
talks to Arawn, Will gets the spell chain from Z'leyra. He
goes to find a quiet corner in one of the prisoner caves
to cast the enchantment. His Ring armor has been destroyed
but his buckskin is still good. Z'leyra advised that the
spell chain might not help that much or even work.

Will casts the enchantment of his armor while he holds the
chain and his magical wand. Within moments the spell is cast.
But from his perception it is unclear if it worked or not.
He'll have to ask Arawn if he can sense the magic on his armor
         or nothing.

Farseeker joins Mun and Zhou. "You mentioned some might have
an idea of what is to be expected. Cover everything that you
         think to be important."

Mun calls a few of the guys to help describe things to the
         group as a whole.

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update....Friday?

GM: We are making some progress.

             * Zhou/Strie'boe leading prisoners. Unless folks think
they need Strie'bog. Kiet want to continue to bodyguard
               the guy? :)

             * Arawn want to try more ideas or now that you know what
spell she used try those? Might take 3 spells for each
Embrace. If so let me know of any recast procedures if
               some fail.

             * Any particular questions on those who saw what little
they did of the upper cave area before I go into those
               details?

GM: Computer update. Minor issue with sound and another thing.
Tech will return today or tomorrow I hope. I hope its
a easy fix not something stupid. I've not installed anything
on new computer in case needs to go into shop. So once
I fix it I'll do so. First thing will be Email and then
ICQ and other stuff. Once I setup Email will advise on
the new email addresses. It is already tested and working
but I'm not gathering it now - longshotgm at comcast.net as
my personal email. I need to setup a pnp one for the game
and test it tomorrow likely pnpgm at comcast.net or something
for game related stuff. Then I'll move the list and all
stuff over to new addresses. Stay tuned. If computer fixed
then I'll try to be working on it so not sure if there
will be a update Friday but we'll see depends on how much
             I get done. Stay tuned.
