     [Recap]

        From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<Oh Dear, a moral problem for Raban. Raban knows these are not
hunters but raiders and the women are 'booty' that were taken.
Normally he would not hesitate to do something about it even by
himself but... Then with a leer he calls out in Katai, "How ...

<Raban will happily purchase her and the others, though doing so
may tempt these raiders into following us and attacking later.
Oops I assume he has enough cash, I am unsure what he has on him.

          <Other possible actions.
Raban laughs as he approaches close, "Come now, in this heat...

<Lets assume the group has a little time to intercept Raban as
they should realize the temptation. Otherwise fun begins, though
the women may not think so.
        GM: Ack.

        From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Ben'Dar will work on his survival skill in whatever the local
          terrain is.

When Raban offers to buy a female slave, Ben'Dar figures
something isn't right, so he rides up to next to Raban, scowling
at the men and holding his spear in an unfriendly way.

          (sorry for lack of posts)
GM: Ack. Full days of plain survival. Figured you'd be busy
or doing some new british custom over there. :)

        From Kell: [Re: Actions]
Ha'Kell will ride back with Ben'Dar, positioning himself to
prevent as many of the riders from escaping as possible. Ha'Kell
won't start anything, but will help the party if any action is
takes. As terrible as slavery is, the Vong take priority, not
correcting every wrong we come across.
          ---

IBT: Finish learning Unarmed Combat from Farseeker.
Then start learning Martial Arts from Arawn, if Arawn will
          teach
        GM: Ack.

        From Will: [Re: Actions]
Will sensing a change in the mood adjusts his position in his
saddle and at the same time casually loosens his tulwar in its
scabbard and moves a little closer to Raban so he can overhear
          the conversation.
        GM: Ack.

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra will tell those in range that she thinks the girl was
trying to get across the message that she needed help. She
          readies her drum.
        GM: Ack.

        From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet sees Raban get his dander up and groans out loud....that
"Oh, not again..." groan. Raban is as persisent as gravity...
maybe more so since mana can warp gravity...but probably would
have no effect on Raban's tendency to rescue nubile young women.

Kiet doesn't see the problem here. There are slave a-plenty in
Katai, certainly in Lemasa and probably in this bizzare land they
call Marentia. Heck, in Lemasa we even have plenty of slaves
from various countries and even some of those black-haired,
red-skinned ones. One female slave is hardly worth expending
          mana or sweat over.

Still, should 'The Group' decide to continue with such folly,
Kiet will have to go along with it. Hey...maybe we could trade
          them Zhou for the girl...hmmmm......
        GM: Ack.

        From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
If anyone would like to speed up the recovery of their Energy
Levels just let me know. By now the party is aware that Arawn
can cast spells to restore Energy Levels but he won't force it
on anyone unless they ask for it. As we have a couple of days
before Pamau there's plenty of time for him to bring everyone
          back up.
        GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

         [Julis 26th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ 20 Miles south of Shantou City ]
[ Old Shantou Carnival Grounds ]

         [Time: 8:32 pm]

The party is now camped some 10 miles south of the old
carnival grounds. The party is very relieved to find that
no pursuit was done. During the few hours of travel there were
a dozen or so wagons just like the one the party have with them.
So this is likely a good thing for hiding-in-plain-sight.

By now the camp is fully broken down and tents and horses are
all settled in. Supper has been served and eaten long ago. The
party begins to settle into their routine. Zhou recommends three
guards as sentry duty tonight. He suggests a rider patrol the area
a couple miles out around the camp to ensure no one sneaks up
         against the party.

Normally the baroness would be left inside the wagon to sleep
and rest. It is unclear how simple dirt and bugs could cause
complications for her condition. But tonight Fremea has a plan
to work on the Vongified-Coral. Raban gently brings the noble
outside and lays her on a blanket some 50 feet past the group.
She warns that the spell she'll use will affect everyone. She
does say it will be healing so anyone is happy to join the area but
doesn't know how it will affect the noble.

Fremea hasn't used this spell aside from her initial training
so is very new to it. She explains that if it affects the noble
badly she will try to turn away. But she feels the area effect
is constant with or without her looking at the noble. In fact
she knows if she moves away she'll be knocked out.

Using her Sidh words she begins to cast the Sonata music spell
of healing in hopes to affect the coral. After a few seconds a
eerie mystical music begins to ebb around Fremea and into the area
about 20 feet around her. Those watching are fascinated by the
spell's effect. Fremea knows the spell will last a minute at least
and in that time who knows what will happen.

Almost immediately some of her scratches, bruises, cuts and other
minor sores begin to heal up. As Fremea watches she stares at the
coral extensions on the noble's neck. At first there is no
indication of it affecting the coral. Then slowly it begins to
shake and wobble a bit. But as the seconds tick on the coral
remains in place. Fremea begins heartened to see there is no
seemingly affect to the coral that she can see. Of course inside
the body there could be something but outside the extension do not
seem to be affected. Soon the spell ends and the healers inspect
         the coral.

Rough measurements are made of the thin rod of coral and it is
found it slightly lost some of its covering as if it was cleaned
of stone dust. But the length seem to be unaffected.

Caladan glances down to the noble and turns to Fremea. "It was
worth a shot. I think we just have to experiment more."

At least the baroness is healed some and seems a bit more content
         in her sleep.

Raban stands nearby concerned for the group and wonders if only
there was something that controls Vong oriented things.

Arawn and Z'leyra inspect the noble carefully and consider
more treatments could be lethal as the rules of magical healing
can kill a person. So Raban takes the noble back and places her
into the wagon once more to sleep restfully.

As Arawn relaxes he considers other options for the noble.
He considers healing himself but realizes he did already once
         today.

                                ---------------------------

         [Julis 27th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]

         [Time: 6:50am]

The sun is up and some are still sleeping. But this morning
Z'leyra and Arawn work on their next experiment for the noble.
Raban coming off sentry duty just an hour ago hauls the noble
back out to the same place as last night.

Z'leyra quickly casts a Luck spell for Arawn and purifies the
ground to help with Arawn's spells. Arawn watches and the
spells that take a couple of minutes to cast seem to come off
without a problem from the signs the Druid reads.

Arawn then gathers those who need healing, including himself,
around him. Ben'dar, Strie'bog, baroness and Arawn are all
in some need of healing. Arawn begins to concentrate and knows
he will be comatose till the spell ends. He lays down as a
green mist quickly forms around the area. It begins to treat
         those wounded around him.

Soon the mist quickly ends and Ben'dar and Strie'bog find
they are no longer wounded. Arawn wakes up and finds that
was a oddly quick spell. He inspects his own wounds and
finds that he isn't completely healed but did heal a minor
         amount.

Arawn finds just a minor wound remaining. Arawn inspects
the baroness to find all her minor wounds are gone now. But
the coral has been completely unaffected. Others tell him
it didn't even do what it did last night.

Arawn then attempts another experiment by casting Regrowth
upon the baroness. Hoping to regrow the cut off breast and
maybe affect the coral. As the spell is cast it goes off but
nothing changes. The noble remains exactly as before the spell
was cast. Arawn exhales in sadness that this will take some
time to figure out how to treat her.

Arawn considers a Wisdom spell. But he knows that such crucial
information could take hours or even days to obtain. Even if
that was the case the gods are likely not to even known the
answer as this is all new to them as well.

As the party sets out, Raban climbs on his horse and wonders
to himself how to save the noble. He feels like the situation
is missing something and if only he can think of it.

                                ---------------------------

         [Julis 28th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]

         [Time: 2:44pm]

Raban becomes concerned for the female slave. OF course any
female to him is his weakness. Throw a horse at him and he'll
take it in stride. But see a women pained or hurt and he
falls apart. The first person to ride slowly toward the Riders
         is Raban.

Raban stares at the female and then the riders for a few long
moments as he moves slowly toward the group. He speaks loudly
in Katai. "How much for the Girl? She cannot keep her eyes off
me so she must want a Real Man to satisfy her."

The riders some 30 feet away begin to murmur and whisper.
The female who mouthed out her plea quickly turns her head to
face the other side and down in shame.

The Katai Rider who is sitting nn the same horse as the young
girl looks over at Raban and eyes him up and down. He remains
quiet for a few long moments. Several of his friends make
quick whispered comments and shift their horses back and forth
         obviously nervous.

Kell and Ben'dar turn their horses around and gallops toward
the party and nears Raban and the others.

Will shifts in his saddle and glances around. There is
no one in sight for some distance. It is a lull in the
traffic due to the heat. But he senses that something
is about to start up. He positions his tulwar sheath and
edges his horse close to the edge of the group near Raban.

In the right west side of the wagon buckseat, Z'leyra sighs
and speaks softly in Marentian what the girl seemed to have
said. As she does she grabs a hold of her shamanic drum.

From his horse, Arawn stretches outward with his mana sense
and his Elven senses. He quickly determines there is no mana
signature at all from the riders, horses or their gear. None
in the regard of a human level. They do have some level as
all things do. But it is that low level background noise that
Arawn has learned to tune out. There could be magic in their
bags but from the obvious outward appearances there is no sign
of magic. He also begins to study the emotional intent of the
Katai group. It doesn't take a Elf to know that the girl
is frazzled, nervous, timid and mostly scared. Even those with
less emotional appeal like Ben'dar and Chion can sense the
girls are almost acting deathly afraid.

From the Riders Arawn can sense determination, bravado,
nervousness and a general sense of annoyance. When Raban
begins to mention a deal some show signs on their faces of
         eagerness.

Kiet secures the wagon and crosses his arms. Hearing what
Z'leyra has to say he watches Raban. He can't understand the
fuss over a simple slave. Who is to say the slave was paid
for legally? Slaves are common here and in his homeland of
Lemasa. But from what others say Marentia is free of slavery.
Though there they do have indentured servants. A friendly
term for slavery where the person is in debt to another person.
But on a pure slave for slave basis sake there is none in
         Marentia.

Inside the wagon Zhou pokes his head out the curtained
window. He tells Kiet, "halt the wagon." Kiet just rolls
his eyes as he stopped the wagon already and looked the
brakes. Zhou considers exiting the wagon and getting a bit
sweaty but decides to watch Raban for a few moments.

The Katai rider speaks to Raban. "Back off barbarian."

Raban laughs as he approaches close, "Come now, in this heat
you do not want to argue nor carry double. 2 Gold is a good
price." Raban hopes the listed price is good. He frankly
has no expertise on it. But he knows most slaves go from
1 to 4 gold for a good sex slave. Most normal slaves might
only be a few copper and skilled ones a few silver. But the
best slaves for the household or brothels are worth gold to
         some people.

Kell winces at the start of a deal. This is his way of
life. If Raban judges the prices too high he offends the
man if too low he insults him. The outcome alone could be
determined on a simple money figure. But how does one haggle
over the value of a life?

Raban quickly judges their reaction. He isn't a face reader
like Arawn but he can judge from their shoulders and faces that
he now has their attention. He ignores the barbarian insult for
now and continues on. "On second thought, you give me the women
and I let you live. Scum like you are not worth the sweat it would
take to slaughter. I could crush your heads like rotten fruit!"

The riders scowl and some begin to judge the party. They
assess their situation. Some glance north and south to see
if there is a chance for a quick escape. When some see the
horses look to be fast like Tef'wo and Farseeker's horse they
consider they could escape easily but be chased for some time.
Though the wagon couldn't catch up.

In moments the Katai group seems to consider their options.
The one that spoke before says. "Back off and we won't hurt
you!" He puts emphasis on the word you.

Raban laughs again and knows these people won't be Vong.
One tap and even a hilt of a dagger could take these people
out. It would be a slaughter. A collective moan escapes
some of the party's mouths as the Katai group seems to be
not backing off. Maybe the heat is just getting to them.

Then Zhou decides to step out dressed in his summer style
silk clothing that is very airy. he crosses his arms over
his chest and stares to see what is going on.

This brings some of the Katai to stare at the wagon and then
realize the amount of horses, bags on top and what could
lay inside the wagon. Some notice a tiny face of Fremea
peek out the window and realize another slave could be
obtained as well as a noble hostage and good treasure. What
is a few gold worth to 4 or 5 times that for what could
be here in front of them?

The Katai slowly begin to form into a thin line. Some
like Unali and Z'leyra soon realize they are subtly using
some form of hand signals. Not quite sign language but
some private signals it seems. Even animal predators use
howls and calls to signal their prey targets. As the Katai
begin to form up the one on the horse speaks up yet again.
"This one," he moves his head backwards as if to suggest the
young girl behind him, "isn't worth the price. She was
used...last night." He smiles wickedly. "Her value has
changed. She was a virgin until last night."

Raban begins to growl and his fists clench into white
         fists. He slowly boils inside.

Farseeker sighs and senses what is coming next. Why
most fools attempt it? He raises a hand and speaks in
Katai. "Don't do this. It won't come out good for you."

If fools listened they'd not be fools. The man uses his
arm and with a forceful strike elbows the female off the horse.
She goes flying to the ground landing with a hard thud onto
the ground. She gives a painful cry. The other two women
are also shoved or pushed off their horses with a forceful
blow to the head or chest.

Three of the riders draw bows from their shoulder and an
arrow from their quiver. The rest of the Katai riders all
pull simple Katai style swords. All seem to be wearing
light clothing and possible leather armor. In this heat
no one has full leather armor on but more vests and thick
         clothing.

"No. we take these women to market and get new rewards!"
The man speaks out. "Surrender and we will not harm you."

Farseeker shakes his head these foolish Bandits have shown
their true colors. They deserve what they get.

Zhou realizes what is going on. He lowers his arms and
glances about. "Wait..no...there is no need to be
hasty here." But when the Katai Bandits load their bows
he decides it is time to seek a cool spot and climbs back
         into the wagon.

         Next Update...Friday...

GM: Added Fremea/Arawn's Info to charts below. Updated stats
on some others. Ben'dar/Strie'bog health updated.

GM: I will henceforth assume unless you state otherwise you
will fight from current position. If you are on a horse
will fight from a horse. If on the ground then on ground.
So must tell me which you wish to do. For those who do not
fight well on a horse you really should dismount. The
ones that do not have that good training on THEIR horses
are Caladan, Raban, Fremea and Whitney. All others will
have no modifiers for fighting on a horse.

GM: Rules change: In doing the Healing Mist this weekend for
Arawn I have come to some conclusions. It is a powerful
spell that could affect armies. To balance this spell
I have come up with a possible solution. I may change
this back after I consider it more when I have time to
think on it. But for now there is a duration for the spell.
The weakest link in the group healed stops the duration.
So if two are being healed the one with the lowest to heal
would stop the spell once he is fully healed. The other
one would be healed up to that point. For an example further
see the rules file on the website. I may rehash this over
in a month or two when my vacation and free time improves to
             think on it.

GM: Arawn - The Wisdom spell you wanted to cast. I believe to
obtain the key to the Vong stuff. Problem is 1) the gods
either don't know Vong (per Ki'ama) or don't want to know.
and 2) It would be the high 2 ends of he spell for duration
so would be 8 hours or 8 days. I don't think you want to
             spend that time?

GM: Thursday will be a busy night. So I may attempt if get
enough actions to work on update Wednesday a bit at least
maybe one phase. We'll see how it goes.

GM: I have a map below. This doesn't mean there is a combat.
Heck things could change. Folks can still role play
this out? I just did a map just in case. This is just
how the dice for their reaction went. Bandit #6 is the
one that speaks above. Remember in this heat armor would
             likely not be worn.
