[PnP] sneak....silence

So what is the approved method of determining if a character has been 
silent enough to sneak past sentries that have their backs turned?
Roll Thief or Trailing skill as a %?
Roll difficulty (Rule 5)...perhaps using Agility as the determining 
characteristic? The difficulty determined by how alert and close the 
sentries are?

I do notice that P&P has a paucity of spells that help one be more silent.
