         [Recap]

            From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea keeps to herself as they
move forward into the cave, she

            GM: Ack.

            From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
                 Here's some random idea's for
things for the Jadu da Pauda to do.

                 1) Help protect your soul from
being banished like what happened to the sailors
on the ship back in update #16.
The way I deal with that using
Magical Healing more than once in 24 hours is
that it disputes the connection between your body and soul so:
Let 'Highest' be the highest of a chars C, I, W, and Em.
Let 'Others' be total of the lowest three of C, I, W, and Em.
                 Hplus = Hightest + (Highest *
(1-(0.5 ** (Others(1 / highest)))))

                 2) Help one's Soul hold onto
one's Body. improve your chance of surviving
multiply uses of healing magic in 24 hours (My
suggestion is ether subtracting 1 from the number
of times after the 2nd user you've been healed
for the calculation(using "0.5" in place of
"(Magic Uses for Healing−1)" for the 2nd) or
using "Hplus í2−(Hit_points_Taken
í(Magic_Uses_for_Healing − 1))" for the calculation)

                 3) Help one's body hold onto
one's soul. When you Energy Level is reduced to 0
or lower your change of dying is "Hplus í2−((1
-
Energy_Level)í(Number_of_times_you_have_taken_damage_that_broght_you_Evenergy_Level_to_0_or_below_in_the_past_24_hours
− 1))"

                 4) Increase one's attunement to
the use of magic. Raise your MANA LEVEL to "the
highest of you I, W, or Em times 0.3, round up"
instead of "(I+W+Em)/10, round up"

                 5) Increase one's ability to
heal spiritual damage. Make it so you recover
1D10+CB (instead of 1D6+CB) energy points are regained.
GM: Ack. Interesting. This is one
reason the rule is in place to not invent
stuff. I figured this was just a special plant
and that was it. Did not expect it to have
magical values. This sets a dangerous precedent
in future. Player C finds a rock that he knows
can kill a dragon! Player F finds a plant that
gives him immortality. See what I mean? This is
why I don't mind retrospective stuff as long as
it doesn't affect game balance. Otherwise
players will come up with that item they just
happen to find to solve the crisis. ;) Now with
that said a rite must be learned to enhanced the
plant so that may be hard to find. I will ponder
on its magical if any variables and respond later.

            From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
                 Dorhak sees the runes and
grunts. Seems like we aren’t given much

"It looks like it’s all of us,
or none of us. Unless someone has

            GM: Ack.

            From Raddok; [Re; Actions]
[Raddok would be willing to try
the spelled shield, if his strength is enough; he
has a lot of stamina, but his experience level is
lower than other characters, so may not be strong
enough – up to GM & Kiet, if he’s strong
eenough] – anyway, Raddok volunteers to carry the
shield under the spell – if using it is still
moot now that wee are past that point – lol.

                 Raddok hopes they correctly
choose the path back to “time

GM: Ack. Issue with Str spell is if
you get booted off your feet it causes bad things. :<

            From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
                 OOC: Scott, when you mention
that the amulet is damaged but the magic is still
there but ineffective, are you saying that it can
be repaired? Or that it still has use but less
than before it was damaged? Or do broken magic
items still radiate magic even if they're completely useless?

                 With all the humanoid bones
mixed into the pile Arawn couldn't help

"Fremea, do you think you can check out what's in and around

OOC: If no one is willing to go
then Arawn will make the climb.

                 - burial?

Arawn kept an eye out for any hidden niches that might

GM: Ack. So strap is broken. The item
itself is damaged. In a way magic on a item is
in several ways. The item/spell. The Runes and
the gem/stone. This combination really makes the
item. If a wall has a ward pact it gets its
power from the runes and gem usually. So if that
wall is damaged but gem is intact it will be less
effective. A TV will still work but its
horizontal hold messed up. See? So spell may be
good or less. So a item that gives say a EL4
Shield may only actually give EL1or2. We've not
dealt with broken magic till now. Since most
items are not damaged. But if this item was made
centuries ago and giant-handled for years its
bound to be broken. Sensing of said power may be
diluted or misleading. So yes you see the mana
aura but you also can see the wiggly tv lines. ;)
If can get the gist? It is hard to repair magic
under the laws of magic. The creator really has
to fix it. So a broken magical dagger can be
fixed with new metal but its best from the
creator. Else blended results can occur. As to
seeds nothing of value just typical stuff. Like
a bee on flowers. Stuff collects on them.

         -------------------------------------------------------------------------
         [New Stuff]

         [Ma 10th, 1636TH]

         [Time: 7:06 pm LW time]

            Raddok asks about his rings.

"Unfortunately, I'm unable to tell if
your ring still holds its charge, though if it
failed to fire the first time due to the amulet
you likely have one charge left."

            Arawn at the bone pile.

With all the humanoid bones mixed
into the pile Arawn couldn't help but wonder why
there seemed to be a lack of clothing, weapons,
and other gear that one would expect from such
dead. He respectfully looked through the pile to
see if anything was hidden within or under it.

But nothing is found but bones. If
the giants killed these people in the forest they
might've discarded everything but their body – meat.

When that was done, he looked up
towards the Eagle Rock, noting the giant
handholds leading up top. Perhaps there was
something worth seeing up there, whether the view
or even access to the giants' treasure. He
checked on his grapple, rope, and other climbing
gear in case he needed to climb while asking,

"Fremea, do you think you can check
out what's in and around Eagle Rock? It looks
like the giants might have climbed up there,
perhaps to spy or to store treasure."

Fremea shrugs stopping her work with
the trees to do so. But after a few minutes she finds nothing but rock.

The King shakes his head, “forest
giants would not put treasure up there. Nor would other giants.”

Arawn sees the king leaving clues for
his Bes which has been part of his walk for the last day.

When the king started to leave clues
to guide the lost bes warriors the alfar stepped
beside him. "If my magic is not depleted once
we've reached the portal I'll see if I can head
back out here and locate your warriors for you."

The King replies, “That would be
appreciated. But it may be days before they get
here. Would be dangerous to wait and costly for
your human friends. I am leaving enough clues to
find the place. My Bes may not be readers but
can understand pictures so once we figure out the
cave we can leave info in that form.”

         [Time: 7:13 pm LW time]

Fremea keeps to herself as they move
forward into the cave, she wonders if there is a
threshold they will just cross and be back again
in the middle world, like they did in the other
cave. Will she sense it this time, or will there
be no real feeling about it again? She sees the
weak mana with her senses and thinks that it may
not protect against anything anymore, or they
were deemed ok to pass, no way to tell yet.

When they reach the two tunnels, it
is clear to her, that no one has been here for a
bit and they are pretty far into the cave. "I
think it would be best to get the others here. No
idea what to expect at this point." If the others
agree, she will quickly fly back to tell the others to come forward.

            Dorhak sees the runes and
grunts. Seems like we aren’t given much of a
choice, but it'll be a coin toss unless these
magic users can divine a best option.

The dwarf reads the runes out loud,
in Dwarf Elder then in Marentian "Choose soley
and wholey. One goes to the destiny of nations
and time. The second goes to that which creates
chaos and nightmares." "Raise your handicap you
understand what the runes say..." and looks
around. He wants to make sure everyone knows what’s going on.

"It looks like it’s all of us, or
none of us. Unless someone has a better idea, I
think Fremea is correct and we gather everyone
down here and choose a path. We might even flip
a coin and see if some magic helps us determine that path."

"Fremea! Would you please bring down the rest of the people?"

Then he smiles a bit. "So who votes
for the chaos and nightmares?"

            Raddok hopes they correctly choose
the path back to 'time' since the other does not
sound like a way home. 'I vote for the option
with 'Nations' and '˜Time'” he says. “It sounds
more like home to me. But which way is that?” And
he peers down both passages for any clue, using his miner's skills.

Arawn kept an eye out for any hidden
niches that might allow investigation or easier
to read runes during the journey down. Upon
reaching the split in the road he read the elven
part aloud and then said, "Once King Strata is
here we should see if the Bes writing offers a
clue different from the elven one. Dorhak, are
you sure that the dwarven runes read the same as the elvish ones?"

Back at the bat cave party Kiet
wrinkles his nose. Bad enough walking next to
Dorhak but this smells worse. He frowns at the
thought of walking over that 30-50 feet of bad
poop with his nice boots like the others who left them behind.

Kiet notices the King trying to study
the damaged walls seeing what he can pick up in
this dim light. The threshold is only 70 feet
away but gives some dim light to this area.

Suddenly about 8 bats fly over him
and too close. Kiet ducks instinctively as they
pass. Didn't Kell say they leave eggs in hair? Do bats actually leave eggs?

Kiet then notices the Bes guard round
the corner and exploring that area of the cave probably to relieve himself.

At the same time Fremea is winding
her way through the windy part of the cave. She
can feel a odd sensation of tingles and wonders
if some magic is trying to act against her?

At the cave threshold Kimis looks
back at Barbosa an d says, “this is boring! There
may be beasts in there we can kill! No good action here anymore!”

The Bes guard grunts and calls to the
king who comes around and enters into the darker
area of the cave as the threshold light does not
shine here. The guard says, “Found something.”

Kiet groans and steps on the sloppy
poop. He squints at the Bes guard who is pulling
at a large bush or branches. He found a
bush? He's standing in ankle high poop for bushes?

The Bes guard leans in and pulls out
a sword. The king grins, “Forest giants have
lairs in the hallows and holes in the
forest. But the hill and mountain giants would use such a place as that.”

Fremea reaches out with her senses to
find the magic but it must be well
hidden. Didn't Arawn mention something about
solo or a group? Never the less she seems to be
unaffected as her resistance is...

            Fremea disappears.

The Bes pulls the loose bush and
limbs away. The plants are fairly fresh so this
may explain why trees were to protect the
entrance. Course the giants are so stupid they
wouldn't know treasure from a rock.

Kiet squints and sees there must be
20 or so items including a chair? And other minor items.

Barbosa nods, “yes. Caves are fun to explore but...”

Kimis frowns and sees Barbosa got a
bit pale. She wonders what is up.

            Barbosa points outside, “a shadow?”

Kimis and Upus look out and indeed it
is a tad darker than a moment ago. Upus scans the
area and sees nothing. Then rocks size of
pebbles fall from above. She moves to the edge
and looks up. Then jumps back quickly as she draws her axe up.

From above a new giant has been using
those hand holds to climb down. That explains
that the giants must've used them to climb to the
top of the mountain. The giant gets about 30 feet
to the ground and jumps down which to him is only
like 4-5 feet for a human's scale.

The giant lands and pulls his spear
from his back. He stands about 18 feet tall and
brownish hue. Barbosa says, “hill giant! I'll
warn the others or do you want me to stay to help?”

The giant moves toward the threshold
probably eager to get back his treasure the forest giants stole.

Kimis grins and waits with battle axe
in hand. “Finally some action!”

Back deep in the cave Dorhak wonders
how long it'll takes for Fremea. She probably
found some shiny stone and playing with it. The
others must be bored so best to be all
together. Dorhak figured she just disappeared!

            Arawn studies the runes and
ponders. It implies those words solo and whole
as major. It does make some sense though. If
the Coalition to fight against the defense of the
middle world during the God War probably hoped to
have it remain as a group. A group stands better
against a single threat. So maybe there is magic
here to defend against sole exploration but not
as a group. Which is why the group are safe to
get to this point. But no that doesn't make
sense. Elf is only a third of the Coalition with
the Bes and Dwarf. Then he recalls Dorhak was
here. So maybe it takes just 2 parts?

         [Time: 7:18:00 pm LW time]
         [Phase 1]

The giant charges Upus and thrusts
his spear and misses. He tries to use his free
hand as a punch but also misses the red man.

Upus moves behind the giant and
swings his battle axe at his legs and does 2 points of damage.

Kimis goes around to his rear and
swings but misses as the giant's leg shifts.

         [Phase 2]

The giant turns around to face the
two and stabs toward Upus doing 8 points to his
middle left chest. He tries to push Kimis away but she ducks under his fist.

            Upus does another rear assault
slicing at the giant's right ankle doing 16
points. The giant grunts but is able to remain on his feet.

Kimis joins behind the giant with
Upus and swings at his leg doing 8 points of damage.

By now Barbosa has reached about 10
feet away from where Kiet was earlier but is now
distracted by loot. “Giant!”

         GM: Actions? Comments?
