         [Recap]

over to the horses and consoled

                 ...next encounter...
                 Arming herself with her staff,
Z'leyra casts Sleep Mist (EL0) through
her staff at the center of the hyena pack
as it approaches. After that she
fights defensively.
            GM: Ack.

            From Raddok: [Re: Actions[
Raddok, on Sentry duty, is at the southeast corner of his

needs a hand & ready for war.

            From Kiet: [Re: Actions[
                 Kiet will prepare shield and
draw tulwar, while moving to about J16, fire on
his left and between horses and Barbosa. Keep the little buggers of the
  horses.
GM: Ack. Fire I assume rings. :)

            From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
                 Dorhak hears his kinsman and
reacts immediately. He grabs his

            GM: Ack.

            From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
                 Fremea, still awake since she
likes the dark more anyway, hears

            GM: Ack.

            From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
To the Dark One, Unali, the
Captain responds "I’ll never understand

            GM: Ack.

            From Tsia: [Re: Actions]
                 Tsia calms down once she's
healed up, looking at the wound she

If allowed to keep the throwing
daggers and her own, she will reattach the
sheaths back into their familiar location on her
person. The throwing daggers she will take her
time and inspect them, attempting to appraise
them with what she knows of daggers, their weight and strength.
GM: Ack. Not sure if you keep the daggers from Z or not.

            From Arawn: [Re: Skins]
In case it makes a difference,
Arawn wouldn't have translocated the wolves away
until after you were done skinning them.
            GM: Ack. I offered that
option. Since no one wanted skins (per posts)
and I took that as a offer to do it for others
not herself I figured Z didn't take a skin. But I gave the chance.

            From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
                 [Ma 5th, 1636TH]
                 [8:34 pm]

                 Arawn listened in rapt attention
as Gnorf shared information about

OOC: Not sure what we might
learn but if you want to give us an overview that would be cool:)

                 [9:01:00 pm]

The druid rose to his feet, his
eyes locked on the hyena charging

            GM: Ack.

normal, she readies herself to pay

         [New Stuff]

         [Ma 5th, 1636TH]
         [Time: 5:55 am]

After the Blood Wolf combat, Z'leyra watches the aftermath.

After healing folks Z'leyra went over
to the horses and consoled them while thinking
<Dang...it would have been nice to have made a snow white wolf
cloak or two...maybe even have equipped the party
with wolf pouches and enchanted wolf eyes. But of
course my sister might not have thought it
respectful, her totem IS a wolf. Ah well...>

To the Dark One, Unali, the Captain
responds "I’ll never understand you humans. So
quick to forgive." But even then, the group is
obviously willing to forget about the heinous
thefts. That would never happen in Dorhak’s old
warren. That thought just brought on some bitter memories.

            Turning to Z’leyra, he says,
"Fine! Do as you will with her. Keep in mind
that you are still responsible for her. If we
end up having a situation with her, you'll both
wish she had never been born." Even as he says
it, there's no steel in his voice.

Barbosa comes close to Dorhak and
whisper, “does she get sentry duty?”

Tsia calms down once she's healed up,
looking at the wound she gives a mental shrug
"Just yet another scar to ignore. T.. thank you,
yet again I owe you and will repay you as best I
can," she offers while looking at Z'leyra.

                                         --------------------
         [Ma 5th, 1636TH]
         [Time: 8:34 pm]

Arawn listened in rapt attention as
Gnorf shared information about his country and
its neighbors. The inquisitive alfar politely
asked questions, eager to discover more of this
new continent, in particular stories of the
elves, from dark to sea to those of the forest,
as well as legends of the land. He made mental
notes as the besamer spoke, committing them to memory as was the way of druids.

            Gnorf shrugs, “I'm not an
expert. The elders and those in the know in Bes
Kirl may have some info. Our land is mostly
hills and mountains so not many great forests for
your kind. If they exist I've not heard of
it. The Sea elves are recluses who prefer water
to forest. I've only heard stories they are just
as fierce as humans who sail the sea.” He
continues to speak of what he has heard but its
unclear if its legends or rumors.

         [Time: 9:01:00 pm]
         [Turn 1: Phase 1]

Z'leyra casts her sleep spell which
is about 10 feet around her. She notices the
horse near her suddenly yawns and collapses. She
realizes that wasn't part of the plan. She stabs
her staff on the ground in frustration as the
sist falls around her and hopes the Hyenas come
close enough since too far to reach them now.

Fremea, still awake since she likes
the dark more anyway, hears the shout and quickly
pulls her dagger and will take on whatever it is
again, only this time they will die quicker.

As Fremea flies toward Barbosa she
sees the plain dogs – the Hyenas which she has
fought before. She draws her dagger and dives
toward one in front but misses as she swoops back
up to avoid a counterstrike.

            Hyenas #1, 4 and 5 break formation
and charge right past Barbosa heading toward the
campfire. They have that evil cackle as they run
– are they actually laughing at the horse fallen?

Hyena #2 also ignores Barbosa and
runs toward the campfire ending north of it.

Hyena #3 charges right for Tsia but ends up a few feet away.

Hyena #6 also ignores Barbosa and
charges toward Arawn but seems to avoid him with
eyes on Pyan but ends up only a few feet away.

Gnorf sees Hyena #7 ignore Pyan and
charge him. He dives to the ground and rolls to
his shield. Just as the beast arrives for a
attack. Gnorf uses his legs and grasps the
shield with his knees and kicks out deflecting
the toothy jaw with his shield. Raddok notices
this and is amazed by that trick.

Unali draws her magical daggers and
moves to intercept the 3 nearby beasts. She can
tell based on their eyes they have targeted the
horses. She swings daggers at #4 and #5 both
hitting for 16 and 13 points hitting in left
shoulder and back left leg just above the leg. Killing both beasts instantly.

The druid rose to his feet, his eyes
locked on the hyena charging his way. There was a
split second where he shook his head, wondering
why these wild animals constantly risked
themselves against a large group of healthy individuals. Was local prey scarce?

Pulling his elven dagger free he
raised his bucklered arm to deflect the charge,
ready to strike with the blade in the process.

Oddly, the one charging him moves
over to Gnorf. But #6 passes by for Pyan Arawn
stabs out and hits the beast in the upper back
near left rear leg doing 7 points of damage.

The sound of barking laughter brings
Tsia out of whatever thoughts she might have
looking out in the distance as she readies herself for a fight.

Tsia doesn't see the animals as
normal, she readies herself to pay the price the
Yokai demanded of her. She yells out in Katai,
"Come for me then, I will pay the price!" she
takes a ragged breath, her shoulder still feeling
the wound even if it was healed.

Is this them testing her? Do the
Kami want her dead and fulfill the contract?

Tsia only has to turn to face #3
hitting with both daggers in left back just above
rear leg and neck doing 3 and 6 points each.

Kiet raises arm to fire his rings but
finds others could be hurt now that the beasts
are close. Then he spots 1 and 2 rounding the
campfire. He draws up shield and tulwar and
moves to engage #2. He swings at the beast but it shifts in time to be missed.

Mournath moves to help Unali stepping
over the 2 dead beasts and stabs his spear at #1 but fails to hit.

Z'leyra watches as the horse nearby
falls asleep. Not quite the plan. She'll have to
move away from the second horse to prevent that as well as others.

Pyan steps a few feet over toward #6
and stabs him in the left side chest doing the final damage to kill him.

Raddok, on Sentry duty, is at the
southeast corner of his clockwise walk around the
camp, fully geared, when he hears Barbosa (his
fellow sentry tonight) call out a yell of
warning. ‘Great!,’ he grumbles to himself, even
as he quickly gives another visual scan around
him as he starts running back toward the
campfire, and the horses, which are on his side
of the campfire. “first I wake up with a
slathering wolf standing over me, then I’m at the
far end of camp & again of little use.” These
thoughts tumble at the edge of his awareness, but
he is straining to see whatever Barbosa has
encountered, well beyond where he can currently see.

The hair on the back of his neck
rises as he tries to look out into the dark for
movement in all directions as he races back to
the horses & to defend whoever might need help.
He has no throwing or projectile weapon, but his
mace is a trusty strength in his hand, and his
shield is ready to smash into anything that gets
in the way of his friends’ safety. He turns his
mild annoyance about being out of range to give
immediate help, to focus on the fight ahead. He
avoids giving out a yell, afraid he will distract
attention away from whatever Barbosa was dealing
with. (He is not sure if he sees any movement out
of the dark to the north or any other direction.)
He knows that Barbosa is at the far end of the
Sentry’ circle, so he continues to run toward the
center of the camp, looking to see if anyone needs a hand & ready for war.

Raddok sees Gnorf do a odd
tumble/block thing. Then in horror sees the
horse fall! Is there an invisible beast? He
runs to help and defend the horses. He enters the
sleep mist near Z'leyra and starts to yawn. But
lucky for him strives on and ends up next to the horses .

Dorhak hears his kinsman and reacts
immediately. He grabs his mace and shield and
moves as fast as he can toward his fellow dwarf.

he's not sure about what the problem
is, but he rather hopes it’s something that has a head he can bust.

That was the plan, to move to Barbosa
but the beasts all bypass him. He sees 2 slain
by Unali and figures they are plain dogs or
such. He moves to help Mournath against #1. He
swings on the beast hitting in the side of his
chest doing 17 points killing the beast.

Gnorf reaches for his mace and swings wildly at #7 but misses.

Barbosa drops his jaw shocked the
beasts avoided him and then curses to
himself. He runs to help Tsia to attack #3 but fails to hit.

         [Time: 9:01:04 pm]
         [Turn 1: Phase 2]

Hyena #2 begins to change his tone in
barks and gets more hysterical.

Fremea flies back to camp toward #3
she tries not to hit Tsia or Barbosa but fails to hit the beast.

Suddenly the 3 remaining Hyena turn
and run. Hyena #2 and #3 move northwest the way
they came and #7 moves north. Their mission a failure.

Unali gives chase and end up about 10 feet away form #2.

Arawn drops his dagger and watches as
nearby #7 flees into the darkness. He glances west and sees 2 more fleeing.

Tsia sees 2 flee just out of her
range but sees in corner of her eye #
fleeing. She moves that way and stabs with both
daggers but both miss as the beast dodges.

Kiet raises both hands and activates
his finger rings. His left one doesn't seem to
shoot off though? But his right hits #3 and fries the poor beast killing him.

Mournath gives chase but #2 is too far away.

Z'leyra tries to move south and west
to avoid not dosing anyone else but is too far from any action.

Pyan helps Tsia and hits the beast for 4 points of damage.

Dorhak gives chase but is too far away.

Barbosa is closer and runs to get the
last fleeing on his side. Barbosa reaches #2 and
hits with mace killing the bast.

         [Time: 9:01:07 pm]
         [Turn 1: Phase 3]

As the last Hyena survivor limps away
he is even wounded faster than the humans like Pyan and Tsia.

But not fast enough for Fremea. Over
the next minute Fremea dives but the beast is
agile and avoids her strikes for 5 times. Or
maybe Fremea is just playing with the creature?

But finally on the 6th dive she hits
the beast and does the final damage to kill it.

Back in camp, Arawn is inspecting the
sleeping horse. The party helps raise him to his
feet as sleeping on the ground is hard on
them. But when the druid sees Fremea return a
frown crosses is face. She chases the last beast
down to kill it. Sure it was hurt and a mercy
death. But to give no quarter? Not all have the
same mindset as the druid though and he realizes this.

Barbosa, “should we put 2 on each
horse and ride them off a bit? We'll still need
to sleep here tonight so attracting predators would not be fun.”

The horse wakes up and looks around, “did I fall asleep?”

After cleanup the party settles back and sleeping is uneventful.

                         ------------------

         [Ma 6th, 1636TH]
         [Time: 6:04 am]

            Campis broken after a light
breakfast. Today is a overcast day with
temperatures ranging form 47 to 78 degrees.

         [Time: 10:57 pm]

Party finds the trail ahead flooded
from a nearby stream due to snow melts. It takes
a bit of tricky time to find a good place to
cross as the sleep slope is dangerous for possible rock slides.

         [Time: 11:15 am]

Gnorf guides the party to the west
and explains there is a dwarf village they can
visit. When the party arrives Dorhak is happy to
see beards! A true dwarf village not
besmar. There is about 75-90 dwarves with a
couple humans helping out. They are cordial and
jovial and ask party to stay for lunch.

Dorhak and Barbosa enjoy the other
dwarfs, their ale and the stories they share But
Gnorf explains they should move on. They are on the last leg of their travel.

                         ------------------

         [Ma 7th, 1636TH]
         [Time: 1:07 am]

Gnorf and Kiet are on sentry patrol
when a moderate wind storm hits the camp. Coming
from the west the winds are constant and strong.

Suddenly Z'leyra wakes up given an
alert from her brooch. She reaches for her staff.

But the winds suddenly hit the tents
and blows every single tent from its
tetherings. Few of the tents just roll over end
over end. Many of the tents simply blow away.
Items in the tents go flying if light enough or rolling eastward.

With no shelter those who were asleep
wake up. No one is asleep when the wind storm hits the party.

Gnort and Kiet are blown off their
feet. Gnorf tumbles to the ground but Kiet being
a acrobat grabs a tree and hangs on for life but
the wind is so strong he can’t seem to move.

Those trying to stand find it difficult.

Z'leyra reaches for her helm but it
has blown away when the wind picked it up from
the hollow inside and tossed it away. So her amber is gone as well.

The campfire blows completely out and ashes fly all over the place.

The only one who can seem to stand,
though blown away, ks Fremea. She flaps her
wings and that alone is able to balance the winds
to make her move only at a quarter of her normal speed.

That's when Kiet sees it. A flicker
in the west very faint. He tries to concentrate
and focus into the darkness. It it high up in
the air maybe 15-20 feet. There it is again. A
flicker. Fireflies? Or distant far off
lightning? Above those tiny specks of lightning
is static or-discharges above. Then Kiet sees a
flicker below maybe 10-15 feet as it reflects
from the quarter moon clouded by the clouds.

Kiet realizes based on his own
experience with magic it can only be one
thing. A storm giant has teleported down and is
about to charge the camp. He is maybe 50-70 feet
away. Yet the party can barely move pinned down
by the winds created by the giant.

         GM: Actions? Comments?

             Next update...Saturday? Or Mon-Wed.

GM: Ok. That was a fast combat. ;) At
the end I recall Kiets 'fire' so assume he meant
rings. :) I asked Fremea in chat if she chased
the last one said yes. She was the only one able
to do so. Ok. We have one more combat before Bes
Kirl. I'll do that next update. Party will visit
briefly a dwarf village next day (lafer this
night currently). But to speed up travel won't
stay but maybe a hour or two. If you wanna RP
any stuff that's fine. Else I'll just move us to
the next combat. It will be either Sat or one
day next week. Depends on schedule later this
week. Mana report updated with experience.

Ok. I did more than planned. :)
Since didn't get it out last night I figure I'll
just get to the next thing. To save time. These
winds are blowing stuff away like clothing, tents
and light stuff. Heavy stuff like dagger or
chain no. But helmets or even leather armor
could be thrown away (due to air pockets they
create). So aside from Gnorf and Kiet will
consider all have no armor on. Weapons that are
heavy enough nearby is fine. Some could argue
light spears could roll away but I'll be
nice. Based on the math and google the movement
of all is hindered by a lot. So you guys will be
hard pressed to move till its over.
