         [Recap]

            From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
[Well, that took some research - lol; good thing I had

"What in the names of all the
gods are those things?," Raddok

(Raddok will remain as alert and
ready for battle as he can, mace in hand, shield
resting on his shoulder/upper arm to keep its
weight off as much of his arm as possible, to
relieve the strain on his wound, since his pack
is strain enough on his wound - maybe the pack
prevented a worse injury? -, even with his
stamina/strength. If any creatures appear, he
will defend the wounded as best he can.)
            GM: Ack.

            From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
(Sorry - I know it was very dark
& rainy, & I see my previous note made it seem
that he could see better than he could. - Raddok
could only make out movements and noise, and they
(he, Kiet & any others) were pretty close before
he could make out the fighting figures - otherwise my notes stand)
GM: Ack. You're fine. Sidh can see
decent and humans can see shadows and forms. So it was good enough.

            From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Seeing Fremea paralyzed and poisoned Z'leyra mentally yet

            GM: Ack.

            From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
                 Fremea lays absolutely still,
not really her choice, just going

GM: Ack. Very good introspection post I like it.

            From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Arawn felt drained but ecstatic upon finding a pulse on the

                 -------------?
When Fremea came to and asked him about peering through

                 OOC: I'll wait to hear
replies/plans before moving further ahead with
Arawn's actions. However if no trail can be
discovered or alternate plan made Arawn will cast
Questing Sight at max EL using his wand to locate
the whereabouts of the Book. He'll cast at double
mana to double the range to 18 miles.
GM: Ack. I added the goblet stuff but
it was mental only not actual actions due to
constraints. Plus Unali beat you and Z doing
this in email before you guys did. So its 3 times redundant.

            From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
                 Pyan takes the extra time
provided by break to heal Fremea to explore the
area and look for more than just the first tracks
that could be Vief's assailants. He also tries to
recognize the terrain, if it as at all familiar
to any he has visited i his travels
            GM: Ack.

            From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
                 OOC...I’m not sure what Kiet
knows, but first he’s going to dispel the fire
trail, if the soaking rain hasn’t put it out. If
he can’t, then try to at least run a defensive
fire wall around all of the group.

If Kiet hears the sounds of a
fight, the next thing is to be able to see in the
dark. He will cast his Infinite Sight spell,
then draw tulwar and attack. If he sees the
enemy is physically large/strong, then use the
shield's Earth Strength spell, being VERY careful
to walk quickly, not run, and stand his ground in a fight.
GM: Ack. Figure douse fire as doing
fire wall in forest might be...risky.

         --------------------------------------------------------------------
         [New Stuff]

         [Ma 3rd, 1636TH]

         [Time: 1:25 pm – South-East of Ma'Dor]

Thanking Mournath for helping him to
his feet, Raddok found himself leaning on the
Navigator's shoulder until the dizziness passed,
and was soon able to stand steadily enough to
head with a couple others toward a sudden noise
in the darkness - it sounded like an attack -
maybe an animal? Raddok grasped his mace more
firmly & braced his shield upon his shoulder once
again. He could yet get in a few good swipes if
this was an attack. He could vaguely see a hint
of movement in the darkness ahead, and moved that way, slightly behind Kiet.

Suddenly there was a yelp behind him,
and he swung around, alarmed at another possible
frontal attack, but only for a moment; Z'leyra &
Arawn were back there & could be trusted to
handle almost anything for the moment - & Raddok
had just spotted something very large ahead of
them, struggling with smaller, human figures -
there seemed to be multiple attackers, beast-like
in the darkness, fighting with members of the
party who he had vaguely noticed once earlier
skirting around the edges of the party's path, as
if scouting. As he and Kiet got closer, now
moving as fast through the darkness as they
could, although Raddok felt himself dragging a
bit, afraid of tripping over a root in the
darkness & falling, & being unable to get up again in time to help.

Suddenly the rain ended, almost as if
they had entered a different room, and he could
see much more clearly. The fight seemed to be
over. Two creatures, one over six feet tall, were
on the soaking wet ground, mud everywhere. He
could not believe his eyes - what were those
things? Snake? Ape? His mouth fell open in
surprise. He dragged his eyes from the hideous
heads, and looked about, eyes wide, looking for
any more of these monsters that might be hiding
in the shrubbery or trees, of what now appeared
to be a open forested area. There were rocks,
like those found on high forested hills, also potential hiding places.

            Raddok spotted Fremea, lying very
still, blood on her neck-shoulder area although
she seemed to be breathing alright. Pyan and
Unali also looked the worse for wear, Unali with
a similar wound in the same area, as if attacked
and bitten from behind, both also scanning the area for more enemies.

"What in the names of all the gods
are those things?," Raddok asked. "What happened
- where are we - or is it when are we?" he
wondered aloud, then snapped back to the present.
"What's wrong with Fremea? Are you okay, Unali?"
He wanted to pick up the faerry, but felt unequal
to the task - he did not want to put away the
mace, & needed to keep his shield where it was.
If he tried to lower it, he didn't think he'd be
able to lift it again without dropping the mace
to do so. "Maybe we should to get everyone back
to the healers? I can stand watch, if needed,
wherever." He said this, despite feeling that he
would be wiser to get his shoulder cared for. But
looking at Fremea & Unali, & suddenly remembering
Barbosa, he decided he'd better just wait his
turn - his injury was minor compared to the
dwarf's lethal wounds. And he didn't want to face
Dorhak and complaining of a mere shoulder wound.

Taking a deep breath, he asked, this
time loud enough for the others to hear, "Does
anyone have any idea of where we are - or when,
maybe?" He looked up at the sky - clouds now
scattering - the stars... It was - all wrong, somehow.

Z'leyra over Barbosa hears a faint
whisper from Unali something about paralyzed
Fremea. But it is some distance away and so doesn't have details.

            Seeing Fremea paralyzed and poisoned
Z'leyra mentally yet again regrets the loss of so
many of her magical supplies when her satchel was
lost to the lava. While getting her grass goblet
out and filled with water she says "I have an
item that can cure a death poison, but I am not
sure of its efficacy against paralysis poisons.
If anyone has something better, let me know." She
swirls her bezoar in the water ad prepares to
pour the water down Fremea's throat.

            Fremea lays absolutely still, not
really her choice, just going to give into it.
She just waits to see how long this will last, at
least her knowledge is well enough that it this
is just a paralytic and not more. She analyzes
everything that just happened, and how she lost
her focus because of how annoyed she was of rain.
Annoyed that her prey was taken down before she
could get to him herself. Annoyed that the book,
a very important book, was gone. Really, just
completely upset at the whole situation. A human
getting away from her! A disgusting, vial human!
Ugh, how she would be punished for this when she
was being "taught" things. Fremea thought about
her time before running away, being taught how to
kill and poison and do it with stealth or at
least 'Grace.' Oh, how that infuriated her! She
would show emotion, but everything is frozen
right now. She hears Z working on something to
help her out, she would say something about it, but again! Grrr!

Fremea stares up at the tree canopy,
not a full jungle but a mild canopy fit for a
forest. She watches flicker of insects – no
stars as limbs pass over them and make them
flicker. Why is it night? Then she hears the
forest sounds previously drowned out by the
rain. Birds, frogs, insects and larger animals.
Nothing that sets her hair on end though. Back
on Vahear there was no sound as it was just rocks
and sand and the nearby ocean. So this is
indeed a change to the overall situation.

Ok, it is time to relax now. Think
clearer, what would she have been told about this
situation? She was being impulsive, and instead
of waiting for the situation to unfold, she tried
to make it work her way. She does not get to
control everything and sometimes things work out
for the better if they are left alone. Ugh! Such
bull headed information, yet it does seem to be
the case sometimes. Damn it! Why is he in her
head? Ok, just collect the poison after she can
move again, she could use it to coat her arrows.
Maybe, then Arawn wouldn't be so unhappy about
her down people that do wrong, if they are not completely dead.

Arawn felt drained but ecstatic upon
finding a pulse on the downed dwarf. Barbosa was
still in a vulnerable state but at least he was
alive! But the Alfar had little time to focus on
this as trouble remained abound - Fremea was
paralyzed, the Book was missing, and the party
was far, far from home in hostile surroundings!

            Arawn considered using his druidic
abilities to free the faerry from her immobility
but realized that with the Book missing his magic
might be needed elsewhere. After a split second
of considering his options he rummaged through
his pack for an iron goblet, pouring into it some
Goideli wine from a wine skin before swirling his
magical Toadstone into the precious liquid. "Give
her this!," he called out to Z'leyra before handing her the goblet.

At least that was his action and
words mentally but it never got out. Barbosa was
still in severe danger and finding a goblet
would've been too risky. So he never does what he
thought of – always two steps ahead in prep.

Arawn continued to monitor Barbosa in
the meanwhile but called out, "Grab the arrows
from Velf. We can use it to track his assailant if more mundane methods fail."

Moments earlier across the short distance...

After scanning around, Unali sees no
more Gartula and with the rain stopped the
surroundings can be better observed. Seeing no
immediate danger, she kneels down near Fremea and
digs in her bags for an iron goblet and goideli
wine. She pours a bit of wine in the goblet and
uses one of her bracelets (Z) to swirl the wine around.

She then drips a small amount in
Fremea's mouth and holds her head up a bit to try
to make her swallow the wine. If it looks like
Fremea really suffocates in the wine she will
turn her head to let the wine run away.

Once given Unali puts the wine and goblet back in her bag.

Meanwhile Pyan has been trying to
look around. Most folks would light a torch and
speed things up. But that is a beacon for any
enemy in the area – 'targets here'. But it would
sped things up faster for sure. But he was
trained well and experienced as a hunter. Only 1
out of maybe 200 hunters could use all of their
senses. One of the tribal shaman would send him to hunt blind folded.

Pyan smelt the scent of blood from
Velf waft in his nostrils telling him that it was
recent blood and a recent kill. Even with the
rain to hinder things it must be only a quarter
hour at most. The touch of the arrows tells him
a well designed arrow, tip and feathers. Kind
made by civilized men who use forges not just a
campfire. So these men are not barbarians. The
sound of the forest also gives him
clues. Animals are always scared by danger or
humans. Pyan glances up for bearings. He is no
star gazer but hunters use stars for
directions. He finds 4 stars and learns he must
be far south of his home and far east. But the
guide star tells him that is north. Based on
sounds there is less clutter toward the south.
Most of the noise is to the sides east and
west. To the north it is less but noise seems to
be picking up. Even though that's where the
party came from and those folks showing up had to scare the creatures.

As Pyan moves away from Velf to the
south he passes large trees. Then smells it. He
smells the stench of horse dung around a small
bend. It has been pelted by the rain and messy
but it was recent maybe 15-20 minutes. The faint
smell of horse hair is nearby but its too dark to
find it. Those awful creatures that attacked
Unali did not come this way. Of his main senses
sight is the least useable tonight. Sure night
hunting is possible but the rain has ruined most
signs of trails like bent branches and foot or
horse steps are no doubt ruined by the
rain. Pyan ventures about 20 feet from Velf's
body for more clues and bends down to inspect the
ground. He uses his spear to gauge for
holes. There he finds possibly 6 impressions now
mud holes. Based on estimates of depth at least
a horse and a man. So at least one lone
rider. To search for more impressions will need
to venture more out. He turns to check with the others.

As Unali stands to look around Fremea
regains ability to move. First her fingers and
toes then her arms and legs. She sits up and
moments later stands. She kicks the dead creature
nearby and pulls out her bag still
attached. Using her knife, vials and other
collection and storage tools she tries to collect
the Gartula poison from their fangs. She'll have
to study the effects later and speak to Kaylle on
these beasts. After a couple minutes she caps the vials and stores them.

When Fremea regains control of her
limbs, Unali will ask her, "How do you feel. That
was quite a fall you made. Should Z'leyra check you over?"

Fremea can feel the fall. Mainly her
wet wings annoy her. Its like carrying an extra
10-15 pounds At least that's how it feels. She
has a few bruises but of all things her pride was
hurt. How did it bite through her armor and tiny
neck? Unless it just got lucky.

Arawn though found a pulse still
finds Barbosa in critical condition. He glances
up only for a half second to give thanks – even
though he isn't even sure he did it or Z'leyra
helped or it was the gods. In theory his spell
might've been on the borderline of saving the
dwarf. If he was one second off there may have
been no hope. But Barbosa has at least four
wounds 1 that is major. He knows a magical
healing would probably kill him. So tells
Z'leyra to help him to stop the bleeding and
treat him to stabilize him. After a couple
minutes and some very wet bandages Barbosa is
treated but he has a faint pulse still. Based on
his condition he may not be waking up any time soon or walking for a bit.

Arawn stops and breaths. He watches
the skies and wonders where they are. The moon
is not even a sliver but a speck of a moon and
low on horizon barely seen by the trees. Arawn
guesses there is maybe 3 or 4 hours before sunrise.

After she is able to move again,
Fremea carefully collects the poison from the
creatures. Once done, she will help to find
anything that could be tracked to figure out
where the book might have gone. "Arawn could you
do that look back in time thing?"

When Fremea came to and asked him
about peering through time Arawn responded, "I
can though Z'leyra is more adept at it. However,
I am an oracle of the gods and can spy the
general location of the book as well as speak to Velf's spirit."

Kiet moments after coming in stands
in a steam bath. With the rain and steam he is
virtually blinded. He casts a spell to end it
and the steam continues. Kiet then casts his
spell to see in the darkness after the rain
stops. He moves about as he watches Z'leyra and
Arawn work on Barbosa. He watches Mournath and
Raddok move off. Then a skirmish of some kind is
heard in the south-west. He moves that way and
pulls his tulwar. But in 5 seconds it is all
over. Unali has taken down two creature
things. Ugly, weird things. Then he watches
Unali work on Fremea who is slacking on the
ground. But Kiet hears movement and its Pyan
moving back to the area of Velf's body. Kiet
moves to examine Velf as Pyan approaches.

Pyan hears Arawn speak of magic to
find the book and such. He shakes his head more
magic when more mundane skills can be used like his own experience.

Dorhak stares at Velf and wants to
punt his head with a strong kick. If that book
hadn't been taken maybe the part could've had all
those suits of armor. Imagine 1 suit is a king's
ransom. Imagine a dozen! I thought party had
fought Gartula. But in my scan guess not. I had
better ways to scan files on old pc than now But
I seem to recall it was heading to Donara for
Fremea's adventure and couple got zapped. It may
have been a different creature.

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update: Saturday?

GM: Well I had a chance to finish update
Thursday but started 3 hours late. Saturday was
actually only 20 min from it but staff slacked
and lost time. Twice close and today (Mon) 3
hours late. Hard to find good workers ;) Still
got busy schedule this week. Since its already
Tuesday best I could do is Friday but work Friday
so Saturday is probably best next update. There
is a lot of clues/tidbits above and all data
points are not known publicly so may need to
discuss. Plans will need to be formed. There
are still obvious issues to be dealt with.

         GM: Damage

                     Player Damage
                 Barbosa 16+4+1+5
                 Unali 6
                 Raddok 8
