Fremea has no idea what this cloud thing is, but she knows an arrow won't do anything against it. She quickly thinks about her options, she does not really have any options to use on a cloud. This is something they never taught her during her training. She will quickly fly back to make sure it can not get to her and try using Banish to see if it will do anything.

If Z'leyra can see the tree that the vines come from she will
cast a Firedart at it from her helmet. She will try to interpose
her shield between the clone Pyan and Pyan.
Beyond patching and protecting him Z'leyra will try to
determine if Pyan will survive till morning without magical
healing. If he will she will hold off doing magical healing
till morning. She wraps a bandage to hold the wand in Pyan's
hand. She slips an artistic ring off her finger onto one of
Pyan's fingers to improve his luck.
If she determines that his needs to have magical healing
immediately, that he won't survive even a minute without
healing she will ask Arawn to cast a healing. If he will
survive at least a minute but not till morning she will get
or have fetched her drum, Orient Self herself EL0 and then
cast a Max EL shamanic Healing spell.
GM: Ack. Actions are fine but I would assume saving Pyan is #1.
Taking time to glance at tree to fire a dart would take at
least 2-3 seconds. Then you might hit 5 of the others in the
way so I'll assume you do not. Same with shield moving that
would mean taking hands away from chest compressions and that
would be very risky.

Yes, keep her firing on the tree.
She is unhappy at herself for fumbling and then missing a tree.
Seriously, a TREE. Maybe she just is to used to missing them
when she flys around them.
GM: Ack. Yeah we'll use that excuse :). During the Vong War
you slaughtered dozens even moving targets. But a simple
tree....well this is my fumble rules. Can have a 200% chance
of success but if get that fumble # then its all over. :<

Maelorna watches the fight and finds it hard to not...
GM: Ack. Just can't cast other magic while summoning. Can
do other stuff (can cast and should Banish to rid it).

If Kiet is close enough to naked Pyan to immediately attack
with Tulwar, then do so. If not, use ring to flame the tree.
The tree is obviously dangerous...and deadly. The Pyan
double probably came from it...and I don't know why...(OOC...I
REALLY DO)...but I also don't know how many of these things it
may create. Stop them while we can.
GM: Ack. One low price of a tree! We'll throw in vines and a naked
dude but wait..there's more! For one down payment of your soul
you get a Naked Pyan, vines and ...

Seeing as he seems to be frozen in space, unable to move,
Mournath's unblinking eyes stare grimly at the death that
awaits him.
GM: Ack. Sorry but you are probably aware the howl did it.
Unless you have some affliction to fighting for over a
minute? :)

The dwarf will change his tRget to the new 'naked' Pyan. And
bash naked Pyan with his mace.
I hope he doesn't get in the way of anybody else!
GM: Ack. But its good to sing while you kill!

No soulless body only working Pyan moans, "Brains..." Otherwise
he seems quite busy bleeding out and holding on to Kell's stick,
that is until the howl breaks his concentration then he just
lays there peacefully.
I'm fine with using magic twice in one day to heal him.
GM: Ack. Glad you finally posted. I was worried. Down to the
deadline literally. :) Again its nothing personal just
random numbers.

[Febris 4th, 1635TH]
[Kameran Lands - Forest South of Kameran capital]
[Time: 4:05:21 am]
[Phase 7]
Fremea raises her bow and knows her magical fire arrow
spell will fade soon. She hopes she doesn't fail again or
she'll have to be like Kaylle sitting in a boring library.
She fires the arrow that flares up and impacts against the
tree. The thick tree bark is parted from the impact and
the arrow does half of its damage doing 6 points to the
tree.
The summoned beast lunges for Naked Pyan but the duplicate
is too agile and the creature fails to make contact.
Unali looks up to see Fremea firing on a tree and figures
with the vines disabled at the base the new threat is against
Pyan. She never saw Naked Pyan pass but when she glances to
the side and sees the group around some naked person this
must be a new threat. She moves that way. She shouts, "Anyone
got an axe. Cut down that tree. Now."
Unali passes Dorhak who is singing some odd thing. Why
is he singing drawing others this way? She glances at Fuk
who is looking for targets. She passes Mournath who seems
to be just standing there not moving for some reason. Maybe
the sailor is not used to such fights? Then she rounds Kell
and comes directly behind Naked Pyan. Both magical daggers stab
Naked Pyan in his back doing 15 and 18 points of damage each
killing the duplicate. Unali looks at the beast with the red
eyes and wonders if she should kill it now?
Arawn wishes they had bandages but there is no time to
get them. He finally says in Marentian, "fetch her satchel."
so they can get some bandages. Ripping Pyan's ruined tunic
he wraps the wand and hand so the wand remains in place as
Z'leyra does chest compressions. Arawn knows this is very bad
with little chance to do much good.
Mournath who had turned to face Naked Pyan sees the copy
fall to Unali's daggers. He makes a mental note to not
make her upset. Too bad he can't speak or he'd whistle.
Then he feels his hands lessen up and his shield and spear
fall to the ground as muscle tension fades. That might actually
alert others of his situation or they'll think he is crazy.
Kell watches Naked Pyan fall and kicks him to ensure the
man is dead. He remarks at how little body fat is on
the hunter's rear end and guess hunting is a good way to
exercise.
Z'leyra sees on her forward side vision Pyan #2 fall.
She is unsure how a second could be here as there is no
time to even consider it. She glances to the side hearing
Unali talk about cutting down a tree. So the tree in
the distance near Fremea is the source? She considers blasting
it with her helmet but could hit Fuk, Dorhak, Mournath and
Fremea in the process. Her assessment is bad and figures
Pyan will not last seconds once she stops forcing his heart
form pumping by compressions. So there is no choice. She
tells Arawn to heal him now. She stops her work and removes
her luck ring and places it on Pyan's finger and holds the
Wand in his hand. If Arawn fails in the next 3-5 seconds to
heal him Pyan will not make it.
Fuk looks around and sees Mournath drop his shield and
spear? Is the sailor that weak of heart? Then he hears
Arawn yell to get the satchel. It must be that thing the
Shaman carries. It should be in her tent. The constable
sheathes his sword and runs toward the tent. As he does
he yells to Lucria, "get up you lazy bum!"
Lucria grunts and rolls over. Did he just hear his name?
That howl was loud and he realizes that it must not be a dream.
He jerks up and sits up in his tent. What is going on?
Kiet nods to Unali for her good work. So there is a tree
that is being mean. He steps toward the east to get a better
look. His new magical vision shows Fremea firing on a tree.
It is that bad to fire a arrow into a tree? Maybe some fire
can help warm up the cold of the night.
Mae frowns at seeing Naked Pyan killed before her beast could
do much to it. Then she hears the comments on the tree and
glances to the darkness to the right. But she can only see
darkness in that area but that is where the dagger maiden came
from? So should she have the beast attack the tree? Hounds
do mark trees but how does one get a hound to attack a tree?
Dorhak frowns at seeing a new target fall to Unali. He
continues to sing, "Even though they line our pockets with
brass, We'd sooner suck ale..." Sure he has a axe but they
are for battle not dulling on a cutting a tree. How could
a tree be THAT bad?
[Time: 4:05:24 am]
[Phase 8]
Fremea fires her bow this time with no fire magic on it
and hits the tree but it bounces off the thick hide. At
least the arrow is not destroyed.
Kiet raises his hand at the tree having a good line of
sight and casts his magical ring on his left hand. Only
Fremea is in the way but she is too far up to likely
be hit - hopefully. The magical flame shoots form his
ring and slams into the tree doing 28 points of damage.
The tree erupts into flame and begins to blaze like a
fresh torch. Kiet grins that'll teach that tree not to
mess with them again!
Arawn makes his gestures and casts a healing spell upon
Pyan. He figures the man has a 50/50 chance of death from
it. He casts his priestly healing upon the hunter. The
green healing energy enters Pyan's body and heals him slightly
giving him some life.
Fremea figures the tree is dead or soon will be based on
the amount of fire damage it just took as bark, limbs, and
nearby bushes around it are burning. She circles back to
hover over the group.
Z'leyra checks Pyan and feels a steady heartbeat. She
looks up to see if anyone got her satchel and then finally
takes in the scene. The tree is burning which gives plenty
of light for about 80 feet around. She notices Fuk half way
inside her tent? Maybe he went to get her satchel. She
figures Pyan should live but needs to get this bleeding stopped
soon. It is mostly blotted but needs cleaning and dressing.
Lucria exits his tent and notices the burning tree and gaps
in confusion. Then he sees the party over Pyan and rushes
to see what he missed.
Mae looks around but sees no other threats for now. That
must mean time to get rid of the beast before it attacks her.
Fuk exits Z'leyra's tent and runs toward Z'leyra with her
satchel but does not get there yet.
Dorhak continues to sing, "...through a nappy ol' blanket,
Than thimbles of wine from a glass!"
Kiet, Dorhak and Kell then see something strange. From
the burning tree a cloud of blackness emerges. It seems to
engulf the tree blotting out the fire so it can't be seen.
It emerges from or moves through the tree. It hovers
for a few seconds then moves toward the party.
Dorhak blinks as he sees this circle of darkness about 18 feet
in diameter moving toward the party. Is this a cloud of smoke?
The summoned beast turns toward the cloud of darkness and
growls.
[Time: 4:05:27 am]
[Phase 9]
Actions? Comments?
Next Update..Monday...
GM: Now the tough part begins. Critical actions will be needed
or this will be very bad and messy. I did not plan this so
don't blame me it was just a random encounter. :) How does
one fight a cloud? I will work on update Monday afternoon
I hope. I have a thing that afternoon so hope to get it
done by evening (8pm) Monday. There is only the cloud as
a threat now. Pyan is stable for now and will live as long
as not touched. We still have a couple others who are
wounded or frozen. This is not good. :< All will see
the cloud eventually (1-3 seconds) except Mournath who is
facing west (back to cloud).
Just as a warning the cloud will move first. Then after that
the summoned beast and others. Just a FYI.
Mark I see your post but I finished update so could not
add it. Sorry.
I got a email from John/Arawn so hes still reading and
lurking. :) But not able to return yet.
