     [Recap]

        From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<Scott you can add as many folders and files as you want to my
server, I do not think it will notice the games traffic. My other
sites are only using about 5 gigs a day traffic, so I have plenty
          of bandwidth left.

And I am pretty sure you can only reach your Home area there so
it is safe to play. Your login must route you to your home, I
thought you had to point there with the URL for FTP. It worked
that way fine for me when I tested it, but I can reach anywhere
on it. I have a problem with Emails, it wont let me add more when
I should have as many as I need.

Some glitch so I can't give you an Email account until I fix it.
I think the management software changes must have miss set
something. <And I can set up a forum for the game if you want,
though I am not sure if it would make much difference.

<Raban has not replied simply because there was not much for him
to say or react too. Thus his basic guidelines work well enough.
I will be more specific and post when things strike me as
conflicting with his Bard training or other things. He dislikes
all this killing but the Vong, other than this one, seem to leave
little choice. <Oh Raban thinks he knows how to break them for
          questioning...

Pleasure!!! They are trained to resist, even enjoy Pain, Pleasure
may be very effective once a method is determined.
<Now how to bring up that topic ;)

<Oh.. and the dice were embarrassing, total miss in that scene! poor Raban
GM: Ack. Thanks for the note. I may do some more pages on the
site. As to actions that's fine. Like today I get 0 emails
all day and so when I see none I get worried that folks have
died or something. Rather see something than nothing :) Good
thing I'm not on any spam lists yet. As to dice yes only
Fremea got really one good hit the rest were mostly 90s. :<

     [New Stuff]

         [Julis 26th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ 20 Miles south of Shantou City ]
[ Old Shantou Carnival Grounds ]

         [Time: 2:44-2:48 pm]

In the few minutes it takes the party to rescue the kids the
two healers in the wagon examine the female noble. Z'leyra is
stumped by this coral implant thing. What is known is the Vong
clearly use animal technology or biological materials for their
tech or objects. Coral is living more or less but how would it
affect a person unless it simply builds inside the body?

The two inside hear the party ride off and Arawn knows he wanted
to talk to the Vong prisoner to learn stuff about this situation but
to rescue those kids might be more important now.

Arawn begins to cast a God's Eye spell upon the nude female.
As he casts it he selects the body's tissue and meat to avoid.
As he does this the body dissolves away and he begins to see the
organs and skeleton. It actually makes Arawn shiver slightly at
the sight as not used to it. But he continues to concentrate and
see where the breast implanted coral seems to end. In this case
it seems to dangle like a floating coral mass above her beating
heart and lungs. Arawn finds it doesn't extend beyond that.

The coral piece in her neck does seem to extend deeper and seems to
extend like a web down her neck and into her upper body. It seems
to snake toward her heart, lungs and some piece all which is very
tiny in size that Arawn can barely see it seems to inch further
up into her brain area. It is clear the breast implant might have
been some form of torture or fun for the Vong. But the neck implant
of coral like structure may be something more. The piece that
extends from the neck is slim as a pencil but thins even further
as it goes closer to the neck to the point of needle size on
hitting the skin and thinner inside the body. Could this be a way
to control the person or to spread pain? It becomes clear that
simply yanking this piece out will be a very bad idea. the breast
part though could be cut out and regenerated maybe.

Arawn uses this chance to check her internal body and finds the
organs seem to be pink, red or brown as they should be. Though he
has never cut up a human body for such a task he has seen them
worked on for healing purposes and it seems to be in order. Soon
the visual tour of her body ends as the spell ends and her body
tissue and skin all form around her insides.

Z'leyra finds the missing finger to show no sign of coral
infection but just that of a deliberate sharp amputation. Soon
Arawn explains what he saw and both consider their options.
She could be healed and treated but the neck piece without
further study could kill her. Z'leyra fears that maybe the
coral could be growing even now and what substance destroys
coral? Acid? Something maybe like bad water pollution like
         trash and lack of sun?

         [Time: 2:49 pm]

At the visitor house the party clears the rooms and helps
the boy. The distraught father finishes his rage on the dead
Vong and calms down. He realizes his son needs him and goes
         to help him.

In the hallway Chion approaches Caladan and both men go off
to one side to whisper. Soon Caladan begins to shake his head
and Chion seems to place his right hand on a bag at his side.
Both men continue to whisper for some time.

Farseeker looks to the father. "We need to get the boy to
our healer. She can help him but he seems to be in good shape
         overall."

Caladan standing behind the man speaks softly and touches the
man and he falls asleep instantly. "He'll be asleep for awhile.
We need to figure things out first and deal with other things.
It will be unwise to have him moving about for now. Let's go."

Raban carries the boy who is awake but confused outside. Raban
considers flying to the wagon but finds the boy might be a bit
shocked. So Raban walks toward the wagon with large quick strides.

Farseeker finds the Vong prisoner and points to the other
buildings. "Any more of your people there?"

"How many have you dealt with?" He asks.

Farseeker does a quick count in his head. There were 7 at the
stable plus the flyer and pilot. One that chased the other Vong.
Ten in the caretaker house plus the female Shaper. Plus 4
here in the Visitor house. "Around 25?"

The Vong prisoner recalls the dog like beast and then does
his own mental math. "That should be it. We came on two
Flyers but the other left. The other Voxyen should be in that
building. The shaper wanted one to sense for ....those like
you who can use the weird mag-eek stuff. the other was getting
mean so the warriors put it in there."

Farseeker nods. "Ok. Ben'dar, me, Fremea, Unali, Will
and Strie'bog will go to search the other places. Everyone
else return to help the others. I suspect we'll not have
much time here." He looks to Unali for some leadership but
she remains a bit quiet after dealing with her own Katai
         people.

Caladan nods, "we will return to fetch the father and collect
         everyone in one group."

The Vong prisoner is escorted back to the wagon as the others
ride south. Some ride south while the others ride north. Before
leaving the group uses the small well outside the visitor house to
pour water into a small trough to let the horses drink. Then
they move on toward the last building in this western line of
         buildings.

The next building is about 200 feet south of the visitor
building and is a squat small building of light stone 45 by
35 feet. With the signs of a fireplace and large windows on the
east side it looks to be a cookhouse. In fact it turns out
to be just that a small kitchen. It has a large fireplace
area that could fit a very large pig for a spit or three large
cauldrons of food to warm up. A very large table and other
areas show it could fit 10-15 in here working on a large food
preparation. The small dusty place shows it hasn't been used in
some time thought. Only the light from the windows shows the
building to be empty. It appears to be used for the old
festivals or fairs for feeding larger crowds or the high social
status visitors that come to stay.

The Vong prisoner who the group soon learns to be named Rua
Nup'wang is escorted back into the wagon camp. He is checked
again for anything he might have on him and finds he is empty
of equipment except for his leather clothing. Caladan asks
Raban to head back to retrieve the father and daughter.

Raban and Caladan walk toward the visitor house and soon
something comes to Raban's mind. But it takes him a good
long while to realize. Something is missing. No. In
fact someone is missing. He glances back and then way forward
south to the others riding toward the other building. Where
is Chion? He never existed the Visitor buildling. Seeing
distress on Raban's face, Caladan turns to face the man and is
almost slammed down by the walking behemoth. "Chion is good.
He wanted to do something. Don't worry." He then jogs ahead
         and toward the Visitor building.

The group south ride toward the other building that isn't
explored. It is well over 2,000 feet away to the east between
the other buildings and the animal pen likely where pigs and cows
were taken. It takes about two minutes to get to the building.
As the wind shifts a faint smell can be detected upon getting
closer. The building made is long about 50 feet by 50 feet.
It has one single door in the north

As the party gets within about 30 feet of the building a howl
is heard from inside. It must be one of those dog like creatures
that Fremea killed before. It seems to howl or as Rua seems to
indicate that it senses magic. Likely bred to find such people
and their items. Could they be working with the Katai then?
Likely not the way they look so much like even the worst defected
human around. Only one door and no windows are found. In the
back the obvious scent and slant of soil indicates a latrine
hole deep down. This must be the public outhouse for folks who
are at the grounds. It is a pity for guests to go from the
other buildings almost half a mile from the houses. But
for smell and disease with the water well it must be in a good
         place.

Farseeker directs Ben'dar to face the door with his bow.
Fremea can sit on the roof and fire from there. Farseeker
will fight from the ground with Unali. Facing each side of
the door Farseeker jerks the door open. The six paired leg
dog-beast thing jumps out of the outhouse. It begins to
howl as it tries to home in on the magic around it. It
sound becomes confused when Fremea is above it and remains
in place. This is when the two archers fire.

Ben'dar's arrow flies toward the squat beast and hits it
in the left shoulder for a minor wound. Fremea lying down
fires down and easily hits the beast in the back for a
         moderate wound.

Farseeker swings his greatsword but the beast is just agile
enough to miss the large blade and he missed.

Unali stabs down with both daggers. The magical dagger fails
to hit the quick beast but the normal dagger hits the beast in
the back and finishes it off. The beast falls dead.

For a second or two all wait for anything to exit the outhouse.
But nothing do. All four enter and quickly check all the stalls.
There are 13 stalls and cabinets and water basins. But aside from
the old, semi-smelly and dusty stalls the outhouse is empty and
         dark.

         [Time: 2:56 pm]

Caladan and Raban arrive at the visitor house. As they
enter the house they can hear slight murmuring and upon getting
closer hear chants. Caladan turns to Raban and shakes his head.

Chion has been alone with the girl for about 5 minutes now.
Soon the chanting stops and the door opens. Caladan and Raban
move toward the room she died in and watches as Chion carries
the limp girl into the hallway. Chion then gives the small
girl to Caladan to hold. Clearly tired or severely drained
Chion nods. As Caladan shifts the body to a better position,
Raban scoops the sleeping man up into his own hands.

As the trio leave silently from the house suddenly the girl
begins to stir. Caladan seems the least bit surprised by this
but Raban becomes clearly surprised. Finally Chion explains
that he couldn't let her die like this. Her death was too
recent and unlike her mother's could be fixed. Chion then
pulls the string of his shamanic bones which he treats as a
shamanic focus, like Z'leyra's own drum, into a side pouch.
He explains she won't be the same girl but at least the dad
will not have lost another person. Clearly exhausted Raban
is happy to see the resurrected girl back. He had heard stories
that Cetric knew resurrection and ironically saved Caladan from
death. Now Caladan has a once dead girl in his arms now
living from the teachings of Cetric. Chion did spend a few
months with Cetric learning how to use the spell. Raban is
amazed to see the spell work though as it is a dangerous one
to use. Clearly the best forms take rituals and ceremonies with
a lot of materials and preparation. But Chion had none of that
and felt emotion for the situation was more in need than the
         risk of the danger.

As Chion walks toward the wagon he closes the pouch with his
shamanic bones. He smiles faintly to himself as he palms the
secret magical stone. Who knows it would come in hand in such
a short time not for himself but for another. He then places
the small pebble object into a pocket of his pants.

Minutes later the trio and other riders from the south all
come together. The party, caretaker family, prisoners and
dead Vong all around in one group.

Zhou states the obvious. "The Vong seem to have a foothold
in the land for sure. By my count If my count is right we
have 18 dead Vong, 1 female Vong leader called a Shaper, 1 dead
Flyer gone to oblivion, 2 dog beast things, 1 living Vong
prisoner, 1 Katai prisoner and 11 other Katai bounty hunters
stowed away someplace. We have the baroness alive but in some
odd state. Dead mother, dead servant, good but sleeping father,
healthy boy...and now it seems by luck a living girl. If we
had come in a different way or faster or slower who knows what
         might have happened."

Farseeker looks to Unali and Zhou. "Now what? What do we
do with the prisoner and the Katai. Should we just leave here
or clean up? I fear there could be more bounty hunters on
         their way."

"We have maybe four hours of daylight or travel light left.
With the wagon that won't get us far. I think we should leave
as soon as we can. Take him with us and question him. Leave
the rider he won't be able to tell anyone of much unless we
affect his mind." Farseeker stands back and eyes the carnage.

The Vong prisoner looks to Farseeker and back at various others
with a curious look as Caladan and Farseeker speak Marentian.

Arawn and Z'leyra figure some time and investigation might be
needed before they can help the baroness. Arawn exits the
wagon as Z'leyra continues to monitor the noble. Arawn approaches
the Vong prisoner. Arawn introduces himself and eyes the strange
being. He wonders if his empathic powers can be used on a person
who can enjoy pain as much as one might enjoy cake.

         Next Update...Monday...

GM: Well for now combat is over. The fairgrounds have all been
explored. This weekend I will work on the experience charts
and post them hopefully Monday. If you want to see the final
version of the fairgrounds map see the links section on the
game website. It has floorplans of the two new places I
mentioned above here in greater detail for visual purposes.

GM: Small update for now. With storms, not enough posts to
work with, time and a small emergency this is about all
I can do for now. This weekend will work on the experience
charts and have them for next update I hope. Let me know
what needs to be done with the prisoners and other things
needed to be done. I went with the quick beast combat
             to speed things up.

         GM: Spells still active -

Active spells - No other spells active.
               Raban - Bless
