     [Recap]

        From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<Yup Raban has a problem, Bards do not get Dispel (Maybe with
huge stats/Rank you could). He can only learn it in Game

Raban listens and tries to keep track of what is happening, but
his mind churns with horror at what he may need to do. Worse what
he may have to ask another to do for him, as he does not know how
to dispel anything, just that it can be done. His mind drifts to
some darker thoughts...It does not need to be dispelled if there
          are no witnesses.

Is killing someone who is aiding the enemy that bad? But Raban
knows right from wrong, killing them just for convenience is
definitely wrong. He is trapped between two wrongs and hopes he
          does not need to choose.

<Lots of thoughts so likely the battle is all over now LOL... He
may be a bit slow but not that much ;)

<So Raban hopes they will do something to let him have a
legitimate reason to fight, or they did not have magic scanners
          and go away

          ------------
<oops sorry Scott for the direct email, was supposed to go to
group. Replies never go to this email list without hand edits for
          some reason
GM: Ack. Yeah not sure why Bards don't have it but I don't know
Bard rules 100% in/out. Something to look into after the
adventure and see if you need a rank advancement as well. I
think you may have to do a ritual or bribe other bards or
something for the advancement. Been awhile since I read it.
I got both emails. I don't mind direct email as some only do
actions that way. If I have time I'll post them to the website
but mostly for the updates like a post from Unali tonight
for example wont' have time for archives but will be in the
update. But the obvious good thing about the list is folks
can react to them. Of course we've seen how that goes with
one post causing 40-50 others in a span of 3 days. :)

        From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
Fremea lays on the roof watching, not sure of what to do from
here. She could take a shot at the group, however that would just
get them all to look her way then and that could just make things
worse for all. She just continues to watch for now, hoping the
others will ride fast to stop the group from blowing the mission.
She will be ready though to shot if need be.
        GM: Ack.

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra, still stuck in insubstantial form yells to Raban "Just
stay out of line of sight and you should be fine." She follows
her own advice and avoids letting the riders have a line of sight
          to her.
        GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

         [Julis 26th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]
[ 20 Miles south of Shantou City ]
[ Old Shantou Carnival Grounds ]

         [Time: 2:39:00pm]

About 30 seconds before the group form ranks outside ready
for action, Raban speaks to Z'leyra. Z'leyra can hear the
giant's voice but is not near. She floats through the ceiling
and down to him. Her ghostly voice is faint like a whisper but
a spooky one that most believe shouldn't even work. But
the voice through magic still echoes out the body in its own
form and becomes solid waves when it leaves the magical barrier
around her flesh. While the voice is ghostly and ethereal it
is not normal at all. But most can tell it is still that of the
Shaman's. "Just stay out of line of sight and you should be
fine." Then like the ghost from those Marentian city plays
she floats away to check on the events outside.

AS Unali moves outside and to the horses she answers Caladan on
how best to handle combat procedures. "I will try to knock them
out, but if they fight us, you might as well kill them. I want to
get to Zhou as quickly as possible."

The others hear Unali's comments. In the past she has been
on to subdue rather than kill. But at this point some are
starting to realize that this mission is critical to not only
         Katai but many other nations.

         [Time: 2:39:34pm]

Ben'dar grips Tef'wo's ropes and watches as the two riders
dismount and tie up Zhou. He soon realizes that even Tef'wo
couldn't get to him before they could do severe damage to the
noble. He glances over at Arawn wondering why he left him or
why Kiet hasn't apporoached to guard him.

Unali sitting on her horse is in all black. All that can be seen
is the eyes and top of her nose as her dark black hair is down
her shoulders she is dressed in all black ninja style clothing.
To the party this is nothing new she has an affinity to black
and it does help in stealth action. But in broad daylight it
doesn't help much. Only her eyes are seen as her face is covered
by the black clothing and every other inch is covered up with
some form of black garment. To Katai this style of dress is
actually not uncommon. Since the party has been in Katai there
have been rumors and stories of those stealthy warriors dressed in
black that are expert warriors. Some say one of these people
could equal a small force of normal fighters. These fighters
are more commonly known rather than the mysterious night
demons that use obvious magic for their purposes. These
warriors are like the Knights in Marentia but prefer their
work in stealth and without notice. OF course sitting around
a table the stories tell mostly these people are mythical
and only the occasional noble might have one but if they
are real or not is up to debate. Maybe Unali is showing
the Katai this to scare them or just to hide her face if
these people know her. Whatever the reason she sits on the
horse like a black crow ready to strike at that shiny
         thing on the ground.

Unali spurs her borrowed horse forward toward the wagon.
As she moves she tries to recognize the team of Katai but
there is nothing to identify these as normal Katai men. She
does not recognize any of them but in a Empire full of 7
million one can easily be missed in the crowd. When she sees
they are in melee range of Zhou she yells out to them. "Release
         the Baron or die. NOW."

A thunderclap is heard far away but yet the clouds are white
and there is no dark rain clouds anywhere. The party ignores
the clap of thunder and figures it to be miles away. Yet Arawn
seems to have some hairs on his neck raised. He looks around and
senses something has changed. Maybe being half god allows him
to perceive things mere mortals can or wish not to know.

Kiet shifts in the wagon seat and readies the reigns. Kiet
speaks up almost the same time as Unali does with her threat.
"Why do you truss up his employer like fowl. He did, after all,
not only endanger himself but his retainers as well to fight the
         creatures torturing this poor soul."

For the past few seconds Chion and Farseeker have been quietly
whispering back and forth. Chion nods as Farseeker speaks to the
         large Katai native.

The riders look to Kiet and then some to each other. The
sudden outburst takes them a bit off guard but those on the
ground continue to tie up Zhou ignoring the acrobat. Kiet
gets the wagon moving toward the riders but at a very low
pace walking pace only. Kiet then raises one hand and points
to the distant Vong, "Those 'things' are not human!"

Unali watches Kiet and then glances back to the others. She
is not sure what Kiet is planning but she decides to start
toward the Riders. She spurs her borrowed horse forward but
also at a slow walking pace.

One of the riders speaks up toward Kiet, "You and them," he
points first to Kiet and then the group by the house about 150
feet away, "are heretics! We detected magic when your group
passed over the river bridge. You will surrender or all be killed
and we have the full force of the Empire behind us!"

That stops Unali in her tracks. The riders are clearly
bounty hunters or a full secret society. But he does not
recognize any of them. The bridge miles north of here over
the river is a good place to sense for magic. Need only place
a sentry there and wait. She figures though with the massive
bridge and water traffic the sensing device or person would have
to be hidden in plain sight. Then she realizes there are always
men and boys on the bridge and banks fishing from the city and
         local villages.

Kiet doesn't blink a bit to this news. "Yes, foul magicks were
indeed used, but they were magic by those 'things'. Even their
         weapons seem to be alive."

Some of the party begin to move forward behind Unali slowly
moving toward the party. Most know this will not end well
likely. Either the bounty hunters will foolishly battle to the
death or have to be taken prisoner. Then what? How long
could they keep the party's mission secret? Would they have
         to be all killed?

As Unali and others consider their options to kill or just
knock out the riders, Kiet continues to move the wagon closer to
the riders. "Heaven forbid that I be anything but his hireling.
But he does compensate me well for my service, which is the only
reason to stay with him. It's certainly not his winning way with
         lower classes!"

Zhou glances over at Kiet and glares just before he is knocked
out by a dagger hilt to the back of his head. He collapses to
the ground. "Stop and stand down this is your final warning."
The rider leader speaks out toward Kiet.

By Zhou being knocked out the party soon realize they wish to
capture and not kill the party. This means a higher bounty if
they are alive it seems. Plus they must need to investigate the
whole matter. Seeing the situation escalate Unali waves the
group forward with a hand and gallops faster toward the riders.

Around the west side of the caretaker house Raban stands
back to the wall facing west. He is torn by this notion of offense
to the gods for removing a blessing but also helping out his
fellow friends. He soon gets a mild headache as he considers
the options and they are not good. Suddenly Raban hears a
buzzing noise to the right and glances over. The sun is there
high in the north west and he squints. As his eyes adjust
he notices a blue green hummingbird buzz around nearby. The
fast bird zips around some flowers against the wall and then
seems to investigate the tall tree that is Raban. Raban finds
it fascinating a bird would find him such a curious thing. He
wonders if this is a coincidence or something more from a
divine implication? The bird zips around the giant's torso and
then around his head a few times. It stops and hovers in front
of the large head and then zips away into the low grass
         toward the west.

Suddenly those watching the Katai group notice a man
appear behind the riders about 20 feet. As the blue haze
fades the party soon realize it is Chion. Smiling he spreads
his arms wide. "I confess! I am a Heretic and user of magic
         and all its greatness!"

Startled Kiet suddenly drops one of his reigsn and is
not sure why the Katai Sailor-Wizard is going insane. Those
approaching on horse suddenly also realize the jig is up.
Only Farseeker knows what is really going on.

As Chion quickly using large steps walks toward the riders
he continues to speak of corrupting the party with his evil
ways and that he has had enough and wishes to be judged by the
         people.

Most of the riders turn their horses around and stare at Chion.
They are confused by this stealth approach and why he wasn't
seen. The leader orders his men to take the man captive and
gag him. As the riders turn and surround Chion three dismount
with swords drawn. Chion with no weapons in hands holds
his arms out wide in a show of surrender. This all takes
about 10 seconds and the party get within about 50 feet of
         the riders now.

As one Katai approaches Chion, he grabs rope from his horse.
Chion continues to speak of how magic is really a good thing
and the leaders should change their ways. The party are not
sure if this is just a distraction or some other trick.

The leader turns and sees the party approaching fast and orders
half his force on horses to attack. This is when Chion turns
to stare at Unali and winks. With that he and 11 of the Riders
         disappear.

The party suddenly stops in their tracks and wonders where Chion
has teleported the group. Some begin to look around the field
and others look to the sky in case Katai bounty hunters suddenly
fall like rocks. But no sign of Chion and the others are seen.

The last rider who could not be taken even with Chion's great
skill shifts in his saddle. he glances right, left, behind
him and forward then repeats this all fast. "Atlan! Ny! Mun!
         Where..."

The last Rider suddenly turns pale as a Caldo princess on her
wedding day in the Cleansing Ritual. He visibly gulps and he
clenches his sword in hand with bright white knuckles. He
stares at the empty horses devoid of his friends. The horses
themselves react to the loss of riders with a slight startled
neigh and jolt of position. But they quickly become calm. The
lone Rider raises his sword and looks at Kiet clearly in a
threatening move. Either the young bounty hunter who couldn't
be more than 19 or 20 is stupid or desperate.

Kiet stops the wagon and grabs a javelin from behind him. He
raises it toward the Rider and raises an eyebrow. "Ah, ah! I
have been known to drop a dragonfly in mid-flight. We have not
harmed you and there is no reason for you to be hostile toward
us. We were merely trying to save this wretched creature and the
caretakers here. Those fiendish demon creatures in these parts
are what you should be worried about!""

As the blood returns to the lone rider's brain he suddenly
does the math. One man against at least a half dozen or
so well armed people. Doing the sensible thing he turns his
horse toward north and spurs it forward as fast as he has
         ever done before.

Fremea aims and fires her bow at the lone rider but the
arrow misses. Kiet's javelin also misses as it hits the
         dirt nearby.

Unali, Ben'dar, Farseeker and others gallop after the
lone rider. If he gets away he could have friends. Tef'wo is
fast but he left late in the chain. It takes him a few seconds
to catch up to Unali's horse.

As Unali and Tef'wo intercept the rider Unali gets alonsgide
the Katai rider. using one hand she reaches out with her
magical dagger and swipes at the rider. The dagger hilt hits
the back of the skull and the rider jerks backward then
rolls to the side tumbling off the horse.

Ben'dar and Kell dismount and with spears in hand charge
the rider and point them at the man. The man simply stirs
around for a second or two and then gets up on one elbow and
looks around. The rider reaches for his sword but its a few
feet away. he then grabs for a dagger on his belt but Kell
does a overhanded bash to the man's head and the rider falls
         unconscious.

Kiet hops off the wagon and quickly ties up the lone rider
securely until his disposition can be figured out.

Caladan asks Unali, "What do we do with him? He could alert
others. I know Thig could make some forget things. Maybe
he could be suggested to a new direction or compelled?"

As Caladan speaks Farseeker checks out Zhou. he checks the
noble's head for the blow that knocked him out. When Farseeker
can't find any he raises an eyebrow. "There is no bump." He
turns Zhou's face around and taps him on the face once soft then
         a forceful slap.

Zhou begins to stir and Farseeker looks up and stands up
disgusted. "He wasn't knocked out, he fainted!"

Zhou begins to stir a bit and then gets to his feet.
He checks his head. "Owww. They hit me hard."

"Nasty bruise there." Farseeker says rolling his eyes. "You
should get Z'leyra to treat you."

"No. No. That's all right." Zhou pauses then continues. He
glances around to see the scene. "I faked going down so
you guys could here faster. Where..where is everyone?"

Farseeker crosses his arms. "Chion took the riders for a ride.
Someplace away from here. All but the one there." He nods
his head to the lone rider.

         [Time: 2:40:00pm]

The group soon forms around the wagon which faces north.
They watch the two Vong run in this general direction.

Raban comes around the corner of the horse when he hears
no fighting. Fremea flies down to the join the group and
Z'leyra levitates like a ghost near the wagon. All watch
the odd scene in the north east.

Unali explains the group will take the one in front as
prisoner. If he is being chases there must be a reason.
She doesn't make comment about the second one.

Farseeker nods, "fine. We'll take the one being chased and
take out the other one. Everyone can prepare for a quick
bow attack hiding behind the wagon. Some can be on horse ready
         to chase if need be."

Will watches from the house second floor. He is told through
the open window of the end to the battle.

Raban gently lifts the baroness and places her inside the
wagon on the soft cushion couch. Arawn climbs aboard to study
her more and to see about treating her as Z'leyra has no
form yet. Zhou enters the wagon with Arawn to help for a minute
or two and to see if she wakes up if he can talk to her noble to
noble so not to scare her.

         [Time: 2:41:00pm]

Z'leyra hovers near the wagon suddenly loses her ability
to move as her levitate spell ends. Arawn has asked for Z'leyra
to help him inside the wagon with some advice on her situation
and how the best way to do things.

         [Time: 2:43:00pm]

Zhou exits the wagon with a sad look. "I don't think she will
wake up for some time. The shock to her system seems severe."

Zhou crosses his arms and glances at the Katai native. "They
asked who I was and where are the owners of this land. They
are locals it seems and know them. They asked about the family."

Caladan turns to Zhou, "family? We only found the noble and
the two adults inside the house."

Startled Zhou looks to the house. "I assumed...they asked about
         their kids."

At this point the two Vong are about 350 odd feet away. AS
they run the one in the back seems to notice for the first time
the carnage at the barn. His pace slows down just a bit as he
realizes he missed a battle. The one in front waves his hands
in the air and runs as fast he can. Those watching can see
he has no amphistaff or even coufee dagger on his belt. It
seems he has no weapons at all. The one chasing him has
         a amphistaff and coufee though.

Those hidden by the wagon prepare their bows.

         [Time: 2:43:30pm]

Now about 60-70 feet away the lead Vong yells out. "?Safe me!
         Helm me!"

The signal is given and the archers aim at the chasing Vong
and fire at the same time.

Folks round the wagon and fire. Ben'dar from his horse, Caladan
with his composite bow, Fremea from on the wagon roof with
her Elven bow, Kell with his spear thrown, Kiet from the wagon
with his javelin, Raban with his large bow, Strie'bog with
his bow, Whitney with his bow and Will with his bow from the
         house at a higher angle.

The missiles fly fast toward the Vong who suddenly realizes
the ambush is not good for him. Either he was too stupid to
realize the situation or in need of revenge and desperate.
Whitney, Ben'dar and Will's arrows all miss the Vong impacting
         in the sand nearby.

The arrows of Caladan, Fremea, Raban and Strie'bog hit the
Vong. Caladan does a 10 point strike in the Vong's right arm.
Fremea does a 20 point strike in his upper left chest where his
heart might be if human. These two blows are massive alone
but Kell and Kiet hit with their own spear and javelin.
Kell's spear hits him in the middle right chest doing a few
points. Kiet's javelin hits him in the lower left chest
doing no damage as it fails to penetrate his armor. Raban's
arrow hits the Vong in the doing minor damage. Finally
Strie'bog's arrow hits the Vong in the skull it actually
penetrates just enough to do minor damage. All this damage
easily kills the Vong in mid-stride.

         [Time: 2:43:33pm]

The other Vong who dived to the ground when he saw weapons
pointed at him gets to his knees and finally to his legs.
Shaking slightly he raises his hands. "Not kill me! Not
         kill me!"

As the group surround the Vong they suddenly realize he
is speaking Katai and not that odd barking Vong language.

"I surrounder. I give in." The Vong says.

As he notices odd looks of confusion he reaches to his
right ear. Fearing some trick weapons are raised. "No
         trick! Help to talk."

The Vong reaches to his ear and inside the larger than
human sized ear hole that is really flat onto the skull
of his bare head. A couple seconds later he pulls out this
slimy brown worm like thing. With his other hand he wipes
off the slime and shakes it a bit. He then reinserts the worm
into the ear. "This butter? ...better?"

Farseeker asks, "why were you chased?"

"I am Outcast. Lower Class in my people. Slaves to the
other castes. I was in metal room over there." He points to
the small building far to the east where the road ends and
the wagon first arrived. Could it be a small guard post?
"I escaped after I refused to ...do things. I can help
         you here."

"Why should we trust you as you betray your people?" Caladan
asks the Vong while standing with his war staff.

"They would kill me eventually. I want to live." The
         Outcast Vong says.

Zhou approaches and moves past Unali with some concern on
his face. "Do you know of young ones about this tall shorter
         than ourselves? Kids."

The Vong nods quickly. "Small hoo-mans. They were taken to
that place. He points to the small house south of the
caretaker house. this structure looks to be about 80 by
50 feet at most and a one story house structure. It is about
300 feet south of the caretaker house where everyone is now.

"The small ones were taken there....they were being shown
the ways of Yum-harla and how joyful the Embrace of Pain
is or should be." He shows no emotion as he says this but
Vong emotions are hard to determine with such lack of experience
         with them.

Fremea clenches her fist and turns to face the building.
If they are hurting kids. She almost grabs her dagger and
executes this Vong on the spot but Unali will decide his fate.

"We must rescue them!" Zhou speaks quickly. "Where is
         Z'leyra?"

         [Time: 2:43:53pm]

Z'leyra becomes visible from inside the wagon and can
hear those outside as she whispers advice to Arawn.

Farseeker turns to Unali. "Do we keep him?" He asks in
Marentian but oddly the Vong turns to him and shows some
bit or hint that he understood it. Does that worm thing
         allow him to understand languages?

"Tell us the layout and how many of your kind are there."
         Farseeker urges the Vong.

"I do not know. I never went there. As to how many
maybe one or two at least."

Chion teleports nearby and jogs toward the group talking
among themselves. New blood is seen on his tunic but he
seems unhurt. He explains he sent the men to a place he
visited when he was younger. It was once an arena for a noble
who used it to have sick games in like having slaves fight
monsters or such. It was once a large quarry pit but
was converted to an arena. Now the noble is long dead and
it has gone to ruin. It is now a thin shallow lake from
rain water and a sheer pit of 20 feet deep and about 150
feet around. The men will have some trouble escaping as it
was meant to be that way. In the center of the pit is a large
pedestal about 5 feet around rising up about 30 feet. At
one time it was connected to the edge by a old wooden
rickety bridge. But it is gone now. He explains he teleported
to that stand and the others fell around him. One grabbed
onto him and fought but was taken care of. He explains they
should survive and be rescued eventually. the nearby locals
use the pit for some of their stone work. Even if they
escaped today they are well over 800 miles or so away.
By time they get word back here it will be too late. But
he turns to Unali and asks if they should just be killed? From
his voice it is clear he has no opinon and wouldn't mind
killing them all if need is there.

As Will leaves the room in the house to go outside to listen
to what is being said he notices the elderly adult male stumble
out of his room. He stumbles into Will and pushes past him.
He mumbles something but Will can't understand him. He gets
to the other bedroom and enters where Will was just using his
bow from. Will reenters the room to find the man leaning
down to what must be his wife. When he realizes she is dead
he begins to sob. Then he jerks up and stares at Will. He
suddenly realizes there are no Vong around. The dead Vong
in his room must've been a fluke. "Where are the kids?" He
         demands of Will.

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update...Friday...

GM: I thought this plan was far more efficient. Farseeker aka
Ryan approached me with the idea to speed things up. It
worked out well. This will prevent up to 4-5 more updates
of combat. We can speed up the situation and speed up
the adventure. If you are curious to see how the Fates of
Time scribed the events as they could've happened check
out the website link section at the bottom. That update
shows what could have happened and wasn't completed so
it ends when the Big Blue Button of Time was pushed and
reset time. Its a bit of a contrast to what might have
gone on here. Enjoy the what if. The thunderclap was
the gods changing time above. Shows where the timelines
             divided up.

GM: Just a reminder - storm season and hopefully not hurricane
season. so far so good but storms can delay things due
to power and computer shutdown for safety time.

GM: Unali what to do with the Vong prisoner? The Katai prisoner?

GM: Warning. I just learned the Web Mail for my old isp the
@cybermax.net email account the web mail software expired.
This means I can't check the spam filter. :< So if there
are lost posts I may not see them. I pray I don't get
lost emails keep emailing me if you do not see them on the
website or post to the list. If they aren't on the website
itself or list archives I never got it. Sorry.

GM: I have not bought a computer game since Diablo 2 whenever that
came out years ago. I finally got 3 computer games as a free
gift from a website. I hope they don't distract me but
it will be Alex's job to keep me properly motivated and
in line - of course he has his own games. So it will be
John S to keep Alex in line. Oh wait. John has his own
games and does them with Alex. Well then. We'll hope
for the best. :) I suspect I'll do them mostly during
vacation time at end of the year (Sept+).

         GM: Spells still active -

Active spells - No other spells active.
               Raban - Bless
Z'leyra - Insubstantial [few minutes left]
