     [Recap]

        From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
          "Damn! I just bought this."
        GM: Ack.

     -----------------------------------------------------------------
     [New Stuff]

        [Ma 3rd, 1634TH]
[Location: Eastern Ocean, Heading S/SE, 490 miles south of DL]
[Weather: Patchy Clouds, Temperatures 70-80s as highs.]
        [Wind: Low speed]

        [Time: 1:44 pm]

As the party disperse to return to their duties Kiet looks
down at his tunic and curses. "Damn! I just bought this." But
smiles to himself knowing it is better to be here safe than out
        there some dragon's snack.

As Kiet dusts off his clothing he shakes the hand of the
Captain. Sure some inner feeling of betrayal was there but
a Captain has a duty to his passengers and then his ship. Kiet
nods, "Thank you, Captain. I didn't expect you to risk the
ship. I've been on board enough vessels to know how Captains
feel about their ships. Obviously I should have better planned
        my return." Kiet sighs heavily.

Captain Sung smiles and slaps the acrobat on the back. "Well
done! If you hadn't distracted that one he surely would've
gotten to this ship. Then we all might not be here right now.
I just fear this area coming back in the future." He turns to
the others and speaks up. "Thank you everyone for your help
in this situation. We avoided a fierce battle indeed. The
clever nature of you all especially Kiet and Chion helped to
        distract them while we escaped."

The people on deck disperse and Kiet approaches Fremea. With
a grin on his face, "I would hug you but I know you probably
wouldn't like that.", then bows very deeply with all formal
courtesies. "Madame Fremea, I thank you for the rescue. You
have shown yourself once again to be selfless and caring of
others, even to the point of possible harm to yourself. I am in
        your debt."

Fremea feels warm at the thoughts in her head. A hug is
so human. Yet even caged up in Donara she saw family hug and
loved ones hug. Do Sidh even hug? Didn't Farseeker mention
Jordi the other Elf hug that Neva Elf a few times? Then Kiet
calls her Madame another formal title usually given to humans.
Could she even hold such a respected title based on her past
or has she broken through and gained it? Then he mentions debt
the strange thread of human economy. She saw it on the streets
and the thugs holding her. Favors, strings they called it and
debts money or other methods. Does this mean Kiet owes her now
like she owed her masters? Memories of her captivity flood
through her mind as she hears these words.

Caladan asks Kiet what his talk was about and Kiet shows a
sign of horror on his face. "By the gods no! I only sought to
offer them one or two donkeys...fresh land meat...that they would
then leave the ship alone. Nobody would have missed them, they
would have been easy to replace, and It would have been cheap
free passage. That stupid fool of a dragon, however, ended up
with nothing...while his companion was able to snack upon what
got dumped. I had always thought dragons to be of superior
wisdom...perhaps what I have heard is wrong."

Caladan leans on his staff as he tends to do when he is
relaxing or in thought and nods. "Well maybe he didn't understand
you or didn't like the offer. Did you cast a spell so he could
        communicate his demands back?"

As the party go below some return to their chores. Unali
returns to the storage area and puts her sling back into her
chest and locks it. Chion, Zhou and a couple sailors return
to the small eating cabin. When Chion notices his bread missing
and some of his soup drained a eyebrow is raised. Zhou shakes
his head in disgust, "this ship must have rats."

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 8th, 1634TH]
[Location: Eastern Ocean, Heading S/SE, 490 miles south of DL]

The following day the winds are low going only about a speed
of 3 boost to the ship giving the ship 27 miles that day. The
temperatures are low from 47-54 for he day. Even though the
land temperature might be warmer the wind of the ocean and the
speed of the ship seems to make temperatures lower than what
        they might actually be.

Around 2pm a storm is seen in the distance far out to see
a heavy one from the looks of it. But it seems to be going
north and the ship avoids it completely. Up to this point the
        skies have been clear.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 9th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Average, Speed 7]
        [Distance this day: 31]
        [Weather: Overcast]
        [Temperatures: 52-57]

Near noon time a storm quickly comes up in the area. Heavy
waves, lightning and intense rain lasts for some time. Most of
the party not skilled as seaman are below deck. For those who
just have gotten their sea legs in the last 3 weeks seem to go
back to square one. Some become quite sick from the fast motion
of the ship. Twenty minutes into the storm loud shouts are heard
on deck and sailors rush below deck closing the hatches below
them. This makes some wonder what is going on. Up on deck the
Captain, First mate and only 5 sailors fight the storm. When
the shouts start one sailor sees a fast moving 10 foot wave
heading from the port side. By now the seas had only been
maybe 3-4 feet barely touching the deck. But this could tip
the entire ship. With great skill and coordination the ship
is turned toward the coming wave. It is not good to have the
wave hit full broadside and tip the ship. Taken on it could
still tip the ship forward but there is still less chance of
        risk that way.

Seconds later the wave hits the ship and all below are knocked
this way and that. Furniture is shifted and things fall off
the small night stands. While speed in these situations with
large waves can be a problem in this case the speed of the magical
talisman actually helps. The ship breaks through the 10 foot
wave so fast it actually lifts up and slams down. Instead of going
down front first into the water it bounces. Water tears through the
top of the deck and some get into the hatches and below but not
        enough to threaten the ship.

The ship turns starboard and speeds away through the storm
and eventually leaves it 15 or so minutes later. The ship is
checked for damage but aside from minor damage to sails and
some loose boards there isn't structural damage. Things did
fall and cleanup will take time. Z'leyra, Arawn and Ben'dar
are busy with helping to tend to cuts, bruises of humans and
horses respectively. The worst of it were bruises but the
horses did take minor rib cuts as they impacted against rails
        and sides of the wall.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 10th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Superior, Speed 58]
        [Distance this day: 82]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny, Haze at times]
        [Temperatures: 57-58]

A sailor's delight day as massive winds blow along this
area of coastline. Speeds of almost hurricane strength blow
almost all day and both riggings are put to good use. In fact
the magical talisman isn't reinvoked when it ends its cycle
a few hours after sunrise. It would be later in the afternoon
near sunset and the trip gains an impressive 82 miles that day
        almost 4 times the average.

If the skies weren't clear the sailors would be scared of
a hurricane in the area. But it remains bright and sunny
all day. All but four hours are spent sailing. For the other
four hours the ship docks at a fishing village while the talisman
is inactive. Supplies are obtained and the freeing of horses are
        done for stretching and eating.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 11th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 12]
        [Distance this day: 36]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny, Drizzle]
        [Temperatures: 62-73]

Only eventful thing today is a slight drizzle for a brief
period in the morning but clouds clear up rest of the day.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 12th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 15]
        [Distance this day: 39]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny, Hail]
        [Temperatures: 41-53]

At one point small hail stones hit the ship from a ice laden
cloud that flies quickly overhead in the afternoon.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 13th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 11]
        [Distance this day: 35]
        [Weather: Partly Cloudy, Storm]
        [Temperatures: 58-73]

Some time after 7pm a storm hits the ship of a light quality
of rain. Little thunder and lightning but there is a strong
force of sheets of rain that hamper down the sails and those
on deck. The sailors feel no need to avoid this storm.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 14th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Average, Speed 8]
        [Distance this day: 32]
        [Weather: Partly Cloudy]
        [Temperatures: 47-64]

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 15th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 15]
        [Distance this day: 39]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny]
        [Temperatures: 65-71]

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 16th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Low, Speed 1]
        [Distance this day: 25]
        [Weather: Partly Cloudy, Hail]
        [Temperatures: 55-59]

More hail stones drop in the morning for a brief time during
        a brief drizzle.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 17th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Low, Speed 1]
        [Distance this day: 25]
        [Weather: Cloudy]
        [Temperatures: 59-69]

A little after sunrise the ship passes two small fishing boats
that carry the Choshai flag. They are full of crews throwing
or collecting nets and gutting fish. Dozens of seagulls surround
the two ships showing they are quite plentiful with their catch.
There is talk of stopping to get fish but the talisman is still
active and would have to be dispelled to stop. So the ship just
continues south passing the two other boats. The other boats
briefly spot the merchant ship but seem to care less of them once
the ship doesn't seem to be a threat.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 18th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Low, Speed 1]
        [Distance this day: 25]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny]
        [Temperatures: 48-76]

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 19th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 10]
        [Distance this day: 34]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny]
        [Temperatures: 56-79]

After 10am as the party finishes up after breakfast and
starts to perform daily duties a storm comes in. This one
is a heavy drizzle storm that the crew decide needs not to be
avoided. It comes fast though and the hold is open getting
some of the horses wet until it can be closed. So today Will
who has the hold cleanup and horse maintenance duties finds
himself in a mess of wet and humid water. Ben'dar and Caladan
come down to help him with it when it seems he is overcome with
        the chore.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 20th, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Poor, Speed 3]
        [Distance this day: 27]
        [Weather: Clear/Sunny]
        [Temperatures: 45-56]

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 21st, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Good, Speed 14]
        [Distance this day: 38]
        [Weather: Overcast, Spouts]
        [Temperatures: 47-52]

Today the party is witness to another force of nature in
the ocean, water spouts. The clouds and winds form perfect
spouts that rise up tall and swirl around the ship. It is as
if someone is trying to target the ship. At one point in the
storm a half dozen spouts are seen. But the closest one to the
ship is a half mile. While water and the occasional small fish
is seen flying out the spouts they do nothing to the ship itself.
The crew does admit the spouts are more dangerous to river boats
        than ocean ships.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 22nd, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Low, Speed 2]
        [Distance this day: 26]
        [Weather: Partly Cloudy, Rain]
        [Temperatures: 54-77]

The day starts out rough for the sailors on deck. A couple
hours before sunrise and lasting several more hours is nothing
but a rain storm. While the ocean is calm and the skies show
no lightning or thunder the rain is constant. Around 8am while
it is still raining the ship docks at another Choshai fishing
village. With the ship limping due to the low winds the Captain
decides to spend four hours here. Though it is raining for two
of those rains it gives the party time to explore, eat decent
food for a change and stretch. Today Fremea and Arawn are sharing
the hold duties. They lead the horses out to stretch and feed.
Ben'dar is happy to ride Tef'wo for a brief time in town back
and forth. Those visiting the tavern or a shop to gain a item
or two need a sailor to be with them to speak the language.

                                -----------------------

        [Ma 23rd, 1634TH]
        [Winds: Average, Speed 7]
        [Distance this day: 31]
        [Weather: Overcast, Wind storm]
        [Temperatures: 61-71]

Near noon and last a hour or so is a strong wind storm that
stresses the sails on the rigging. Sailors have to tighten down
the rigging. No one is allowed in the crows nest. Corona and
Fremea are prevented from being up on top deck due to the gusts
of winds that wrap from all directions.

Around 1pm the talisman magic ends its cycle this day. Since
Shu is in charge of it she always gives it a brief time before
she reactivates it. This allows the captain and first mate to
get their bearings and judge nearby villages to possibly visit.
As the two officers are talking and looking over maps around
the bend ahead comes a merchant ship moving fast with the winds
coming in front of the ship to the south. It carries the
Choshai flag and uses sails. It looks about the same size as
the party's ship but it is hard to tell.

Captain fearing little danger keeps a straight course.
Soon with the Blue Moon going slower with no magic to help
it, it nears the other merchant ship. Flags are seen and
the other ship requests a side-along. This is a request to
board for possible supply exchanges. This has been done
once before in the past so Captain Sung flies flags that
is agreed to do so. Last time they only needed some
food and nails. At this distance its hard to hear what they
want but once they near the ship their request should be clear.

Captain Sung turns to the sailors to prepare for a slow
and steady course then glances at the party for any objections.

        Actions? Comments?

        Next Update...Monday...

GM: Ship is about half a mile away. Upon sight of it Fremea
is ushered down below or in disguise. It should take
2-4 minutes for both ships to get close and along side
each other. If the traders like Kell wish to trade it
can be done. But otherwise let me know any particular
actions. This is sort of a stall post as I still work
on Z'leyra's IBT and may take another week. Ma 25 I
believe is when the IBT time period begins. So I need
to get that done before the time moves to that date. Right
now only about 25% done with Z'leyra's IBT.

GM: Happy Independence Day to all in the USA!
