     [Recap]

        From Raban: [Re: Actions]
<The joys of coordinated actions ;) At least no one got totally
          in each others way>

Still grinning, Raban mentions to Arawn "Maybe I should find a
heavy steel pole or something else to use as a club, though I
think we are running out of Statues to smash."
<need a Tetsubo, Japanese Iron Club used by Oni?>

Raban (to Arawn) "I have this set of Heavy Gauntlets that I use
when I must inflict more damage than with just bare fists.
Though I am always willing to learn new things."

<Yup Raban is unarmed combat expert, not martial arts.>

          [***Arawn's part deleted***]
        GM: Ack.

                        -----------------

        From arawn: [Re: Actions]
Smiling at Raban Arawn sighed upon seeing the broken shovel head.

"I figured it would come in handy, just not in this manner. Oh
well," he said in a bemused tone, "there are still some more
          in the other room."

Quickly scanning the fountain Arawn sensed for any remaining
magic in the eye before reaching for it (if it still radiates
he'll do so with a cloth and then move it to an empty waterskin)
and gather some of the metal shards as well.

Hearing Caladan's words and taking note of the keys in Z'leyra's
          hands Arawn adds,

"I think that would be wise but might I suggest closing this
secret staircase for the time being? We have too many unguarded
entrances and a strong need to rest shortly. I'd hate to draw
the attention of anything down below before we are ready."

Without going down the stairs Arawn will take a look down and
try to discover what he can before attempting to close it.
           -------------------------------------------------------------
On the way to the locked chamber Arawn will make a quick stop
to replace the broken shovel with another, fresh, shovel.
           ------------------------------------------------------------
If Fremea mentions the auras Arawn will inquire as to what,
if anything, she was able to ascertain about them.

"I wonder if the magics react to magical entities or certain
forces, such as the Sidh...," he thought aloud.

If nothing more is discovered about the auras Arawn will make
           a suggestion.

"At least one of the spells active in the room is fire spell.
Perhaps we can shield up or conjure fire resistance to give us
a chance to study the auras and discover a means to bypass them?"

           [***Raban's part deleted***]
GM: Ack. The stairs were closed last time but no biggie.

                        -----------------

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra opened the window to let Corona in, greeting and petting
Corona. After closing the window she took a towel and helped Corona
          dry off.

Hearing that Fremea had been attacked by flame Z'leyra she says
"Having some level of immunity to fire I may well be the best to
examine that room. However I will want to wait till tomorrow,
after I have slept and healed again. Right now I feel that a minor
tap could cause me to collapse."
        GM: Ack.

                        -----------------

        From Arawn: [Re: More Actions]
Arawn thought over various options after the door was closed.
The entire castle was dangerous and this room seemingly
especially so. He listened to Kiet's suggestion and then Z'leyra's
          before answering.

"I have to side with Z'leyra on this. The room is not going
anywhere and we are not at our best at the moment. Fire resistant
magics can help to a degree but there are likely other wards to
contend with and magical shielding, scrying, as well as a few
other options come to mind but I think it best to do after we are
rested. Besides, our best source of information, next to
questioning A'kril of course, might lie with our unconscious
          guard in the other room."

          [***Z'leyra's email deleted***]
        GM: Ack.

                        -----------------

        From Fremea: [Re: Actions]
"I say that the candles will react to anything that is not
authorized to access that room. And to have that kind of
protection, there is something important in there. I believe I
was missed because of my height. Maybe using the guard to enter
first would allow us to get in there with out a reaction. And if
it does react to Sidh, then we can stay out here, just in case."

Fremea seems a bit tired and frustrated. Probably even irritated.
        GM: Ack.

                        -----------------

        From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet absent-mindedly nods his head and smiles a little at the
thought of 'speaking' with the guard..."Yeah", he says as if
          looking forward to it.
        GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

        [Ma 2nd, 1633TH. 5th Day of Adventure #4.
[Location: Chaos domain, Dark Lands, 9 Miles up, Flying Island]

        [Time: 10:58am]

        [Earlier in the Courtyard]

[After the defeat of the statue Raban climbs out of the wet fountain
dripping water on the ground. He twirls the busted and dented
shovel in his large hand and looks it over then turns to Arawn
         grinning.]

Raban: "Maybe I should find a heavy steel pole or something else
to use as a club, though I think we are running out of Statues
          to smash."

"I have this set of Heavy Gauntlets that I use when I must inflict
more damage than with just bare fists. though I am always willing
          to learn new things."

[Arawn back at Raban but sighs at the sight of the broken shovel
bent head. He thought of bringing it along to this place and who
knew it would come in use.]

Arawn: "I figured it would come in handy, just not in this manner.
Oh well," [he said in a bemused tone,] "there are still some
          more in the other room."

[Arawn scans the fountain for more magic but senses nothing. Maybe
the spell was defeated or simply without its head the magic could
not be used at all. He senses nothing left of magic in the
fountain itself. He bends down to collect a few pieces of metal
shards and finds it light and cool to the touch. Based on the
amount of damage from the three hits the head of the Griffon seems
to have disintegrated. That might indicate soft metal or old
rusted metal. He collects a few shards for later.]

[Caladan looks at the headless statue and shakes his head.]

Caladan: "Headless guards and statues. I'm starting to see
a pattern to this place. You were able to push that statue
down pretty fast Ben'dar. Raban's ..size helped. Remind
me not to build statues in my place."

[What is left of the fountain is the feet of the griffon that is
bent and at the base. But it seems the pipes, which are a ceramic
or soft metal form have bent and burst as well. They spray toward
the west side of the fountain and onto the ground. Ben'dar and
Raban bends them back easily and into the fountain so not to flood
         the ground and the stairs.]

[Caladan offers the group to leave to investigate the other locked
room. Arawn hears Caladan and looks up at the set of keys that
         Z'leyra holds.]

Arawn: "I think that would be wise but might I suggest closing
this secret staircase for the time being? We have too many
unguarded entrances and a strong need to rest shortly. I'd hate
to draw the attention of anything down below before we are
          ready."

[Kiet stares at the floating pieces. Most of the metal is on the
floor of the fountain but some seem to be floating. He takes
one shard for a sample and find it light. But then he discovers
many of the pieces are hollow. In fact most of the statue now
that he considers it is hollow for the pipes to work. That would
make sense why it could be beaten in so fast rather than a solid
head. Some have air bubbles in them that allow them to float but
yet others do indeed float. A odd bit of metal.]

[As Caladan shifts the fountain stone sprout to close the stairs,
Arawn tries to see down. But all he sees is a dim hallway
that goes for a bit of distance and nothing else. As the party
heads back to the locked room, Arawn takes a side trip. He
obtains a shovel from the food area beside the Courtyard.]

                        -----------------------

[Time: 11:01am - Locked room beside the Main Room.]

[Fremea slams the door to the locked room as the flame splashes
against the metal door. She explains what she found in the locked
room. She explains she found two auras in the room but there could
be others. There was only a second or two at most to examine the
room. She figures the auras of magic were of moderate strength.]

Arawn: "I wonder if the magics react to magical entities or certain
          forces, such as the Sidh...,"

[As the others talk Z'leyra goes to the east window and pries the
window open. She finds it very dusty, rusty and old. It takes
some strength and force to open it. Corona crawls as best he can
through the window dripping with water. Caladan who left to get a
towel from the nearby Latrine hands it to Z'leyra. She helps Corona
dry off as best as she can. The eagle seems to shiver a bit but
seems calm and not over excited.]

[Hearing about the fire attack to Fremea she looks up as she
dries the mysterious eagle and speaks up.]

Z'leyra: "Having some level of immunity to fire I may well be the
best to examine that room. However I will want to wait till
tomorrow, after I have slept and healed again. Right now I feel
that a minor tap could cause me to collapse."

[Caladan runs his hand through his thick hair, a gesture that
some know to be a bit of frustration.]

Caladan: "I feel we can't wait till tomorrow. Once this storm
is over the people below will see this place. They'll start
asking questions. If they've not discovered this place by now
and are now moving toward it they will be soon. We should resolve
this place, either its destruction or otherwise, by the end of
the day max. Otherwise the High Elder will have a serious
problem on his hand with wizards fighting for this place."

Arawn: "At least one of the spells active in the room is fire
spell. Perhaps we can shield up or conjure fire resistance to
give us a chance to study the auras and discover a means to
         bypass them?"

Caladan: "Being a fire wizard I know fire resistance. But we
don't the other spell. It could be a death spell or something
odd we never know about till it kills us."

Fremea: "I say that the candles will react to anything that is
not authorized to access that room. And to have that kind of
protection, there is something important in there. I believe I
was missed because of my height. Maybe using the guard to enter
first would allow us to get in there with out a reaction. And if
it does react to Sidh, then we can stay out here, just in case."

[Her voice gives a bit of a frustrated soul that is tired of
this place and its tricks. She doesn't understand many things.
How these magics work. How they can block magic senses. How
giants can take out a metal creature and statue as if a person
killing a bug. How and why this place floats. Where it came
from. Many questions and little answers at this time.]

[Kiet smiles at the thought of speaking to the guard in his own
         personal style and nods absent-mindedly.]

        Kiet: "Yeah."

Arawn: "I have to side with Z'leyra on this. The room is not going
anywhere and we are not at our best at the moment. Fire resistant
magics can help to a degree but there are likely other wards to
contend with and magical shielding, scrying, as well as a few
other options come to mind but I think it best to do after we
are rested. Besides, our best source of information, next to
questioning A'kril of course, might lie with our unconscious
          guard in the other room."

Caladan: "It could be hours before he wakes up."

[As the others figure out options, Caladan acts. Looking behind
him to ensure no one is there he opens the door and ducks.
As the fire ward activates he slams the door.]

Caladan: "That proves it doesn't just like Sidh."

[The others stare at the son of the tribal chief and wonders
if he has gone insane. Caladan seems to count to himself
and after about 30 seconds he moves to the side of the door and
opens it but this time without anyone in the threshold. But
nothing seems to happen. He pops his head around and then
slowly comes around the door. The candle flickers as if
about to activate and he speaks a word.]

        Caladan: "Be'skar"

[The fire dart shoots out and Caladan slams the door as it
splashes to the side of the door. He grins and looks to
         the others.]

Caladan: "Well it seems an entry ward only. Looks like
probably a password thing or a command."

[Ben'dar wonders what he said then realizes it was Zen'da for
Tree Frog. A odd word to blurt out but it seems to have been
         a pure guess.]

[As the others consider their options Z'leyra listens to Corona
squak low and give a report of the outside.]

Caladan: "Based on what I saw the room can't be more than a storage
or a armory. I suspect armory. Because we saw the storage and
the sentry room is right beside it. It would make sense for guards
to access the room for weapons and armor. I guess A'kril or
whoever didn't want folks simply going in and stealing things.
If it is just that then maybe it can wait. It isn't like
we need armor or weapons right away. Should we finish
exploring this level before going down to that secret
          staircase?"

        Actions? Comments?

        Next Update...Friday...

GM: Small update. Since no one has taken action into getting
into the room or dealing with the magic not much to do at this
point. Since it seems most want to avoid the room for now
we'll move on. Next update the party will explore the back of
the first floor (3-4 rooms). Unless someone has actions to
enter the warded room? If not I'll move the folks back and
            report those results.
