     [Recap]

        From Chion: [Re: Replies]
Chion replies, "I have met him and even had a private
audience with him and my teacher. I hope some day to be as
wise as he is, but I doubt I have the capacity."

After the jump, "Well look at that. We made it." He'll grin
          in Xian's general direction.

Regarding the loss of breath, "Once you do it enough you
          hardly notice."
        GM: Ack. Xian just nods.

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra will start by looking around for tracks. Using her
tracking skill she will see what she can find out,
particularly around the graves that look like they had
          been disturbed.

She has a number of spells she plans to cast, so at some
point she will go to a clear space, play her drum and cast
          spells.
        GM: Ack.

[Info - For reminder to me and you]
      Group 1 - Balrog, Kasha, Ben'dar, Thig, Strie'bog, Trembyl
        Unali, Z'leyra
Group 2 - Caladan, Chion, Xian, Jordi, Farseeker

    [New Stuff]

Octaqi 17, in the 163rd Year [TH]

[Meanwhile back at the Grave site - Location a few miles
south-west of Caladan's village. Roughly 45 minute ride.
         Time: Roughly 8am]

[The group finds the graves replanted with dirt as was
told before the trip. This site was victimized 6 days
ago. But the graves seem undisturbed. Ben'dar looks
around and stays on the horse. Being so early in the
morning his hangover is still there. Strie'bog dismounts
and goes over to the trees. Z'leyra checks the perimeter
for tracks. High above the eagle flies and looks over
everyone. The 2 Zen'da warriors who guided the party
here just watch the group look around. Balrog remains
          on his horse as well.]

[Trembyl stares at the grave as if hoping to gleam clues
          from it.]

[Z'leyra examines the tracks but sees only animal tracks.]

[The graves about 22 of them are mounds that seem to
only identify them. They all are aligned north to
the south. The trees are in the north of the graves.
The mounts of rocks and sand is small but if you overlook
it might never know they are graves.]

[Thig flies around and also tries to look at the tracks.]

[While is this happening Strie'bog begins to speak strangely
to the trees as if in a trance. Balrog and Ben'dar stare
and wonder what's going on. The trees seem to move as if
in a wind but there is no wind?]

[Thig stops at one point in the sand. Z'leyra comes up and
          looks as well.]
Thig: "There were horses here going eastward. At least three
of them. But then the tracks just disappear right here."
[Z'leyra notices indeed tracks seem to stop here. Thig waves
his hand over the dirt and she notices the ground is very
          even and very clean.]
Thig: "Usually if someone doesn't want to be tracked they
use the classic tree bush and drags it behind them. But
that creates streaks. This is too clean."

[Ben'dar translates for Balrog to the warriors]
         Balrog: "Who si buried here?"
Warrior: "Clan A'kala usually sets up their camp a mile
away to the east in the summer. They use this as their
family burial site. Warriors and others."
         Balrog: "Chiefs or shamans?"
[The Warrior examines the graves closer and takes a few
seconds. He points to one grave.]
Warrior: "That one there belongs to a shaman for the clan.
You can tell because the big rock there is colored red.
That shows shamans. No graves have green stones which
show chief graves. Which isn't surprising since this
clan is small and really not that big enough for chiefs."

        --------------------------------------------------------

[Meanwhile in the small valley in the mountains.]
         Time: Roughly 8am]

[Caladan's group begins their descent down into the valley.
The valley is small about the size of 4 football fields.
On each side north and south are two tall mountains. To
the west is a smaller mountain. to the east where the
group came from is the open ravine and more mountains.]

[As the group moves Farseeker stops and looks around.]
         Farseeker: "Ahh..Caladan?"
         Caladan: "Yes?"
Farseeker: "That mountain there" [He points to the one
north of the valley] "was not there when we arrived
back in the opening. The closest mountain was hazy
and blue like as if some distance away."
Xian: "Your right. That's odd. Come to think of it.
There was more clouds back at the opening."
Caladan: "Never noticed it. But I always suspected the
fog seems to take you to a different spot. Maybe we
are somewhere else than we figure."
Xian: "I've heard that the Faerry home kingdom has some
setup like that with their fog or trees or something.
You could walk right by it and never see it."
[Down below a few hundred feet is the small house that
must be their destination. Nothing of civilization is
seen elsewhere in the valley. The house is a small squat
square. Trees seem to surround the house from all but the
east side where its a bit open.]
         Xian: "That his place?"
         Caladan: "Yes."
Xian: "Should we know anything before we visit? Dos or don'ts?"
Caladan: "Not that I know of. He does seem to get ingrossed
in his work and studies. He strives for knowledge and
information. Which is why he is a good source of information
           for me."

[As the group nears the house has 2 windows which are closed.
The front seems to have some square garden areas along the
wall where plants and possibly food is growing. The color
of the house is brown with a tannish wooden/thatch roof.
As they near the firesnake seems to get excited a bit.
Caladan goes up to the door and knocks but no one answers.
He knocks again. Three minutes pass and no response.
Finally Caladan checks and finds the door unlocked. He
opens it and looks. He nods and enters. The group merges
into a large room that must be 30 feet by 30 feet. to
the left is what must be the kitchen area with cupboards
and a cooking wooden stove with a built in inside water
pump. Something no one has seen but in a few places.
To the right is a bookcase with many books (maybe 30-40).
To the rear right is a bed with cabinet for clothes or
other goods. In the middle right is a fireplace with
a lit fire roaring. To the rear center is a large table
for eating that might seat 3-4. The table is set more in
the center. On the wall left and middle is a desk facing
the wall. It has several open scrolls and books lying on
it among other materials found on a desk. To the rear left
is a area about 10x10 which houses what seems to be shelves
and several tables with various instruments and various objects
hard to see at this particular angle. To the rear middle
is a door on the other side of the group. Standing with
back turned to the group is a man bent over a table in the
rear work area. After everyone enters the man speaks in
          Marentian.]
Man: "Hello. Sorry...be with you in just a minute."
[Caladan nods and Xian closes the door.]
Man: "Sit Caladan. Rest while I finish this."
[Caladan smiles and points to the kitchen table where the
group heads over and sits down. A bowl of apples and
other fruit is in the table center. Some salt and pepper
shakers as well but otherwise table is empty. A few minutes
later the man turns around and walks toward the group. The
man smiles and Caladan stands to hug him.]

        Caladan: "Hello master."
Woundenal: "Caladan, I've been expecting you."
        [Caladan introduces everyone.]
Caladan: "This is Chion, Jordi, Farseeker and --"
Woundenal: "--Xian. I've heard about you and always wanted
          to meet you."
        [Confused Xian nods.]
Xian: "And same for meeting you sir."
[The man is about 5 foot 4. He seems in his late 70s and
his face shows it. He wears a dark tan robe and hard
to tell what's undernear. He wears a large ring on his
right hand. His graying hair is slightly balding at the
very top of the head. He sits at the head of the table.]
        Caladan: "Expecting me?"
[Woudenal raises his arm. At this the firesnake flies toward
him and snugs up against his neck.]
Woudenal: "Yes. I sensed you would come to me."
Caladan: "Father said I should visit to see if you could help
          me."
Woudenal: "Have you and him reached an understanding?"
Caladan: "Yes. We talked late into teh night last night.
          Things seem to be settled."
Woudenal: "Good..oh my manners..welcome to some fruit gentlemen.
so what brings you here?" [he grins and scratches the
          firesnake under its head.]
[Caladan explains what has happend the last month or so and
what made them come here. The Tests. The problems on
         the plains for the Zen'da.]
Woudenal: "Yes. I've heard of some of this. The first
reports were of the Ba'rual graves. I'm surprised Cetric
would force you to do those tests though."
        Caladan: "Can you help us?"
Woudenal: "I was especially surprised of your test. Would
you have truly killed him?" [He looks down at the firesnake
and back at Caladan. Caladan lowers his head.]
        Caladan: "I...don't think so. No..."
Woudenal: "I doubt you would. But if it came down to your
village or him ..." [he leaves it unanswered.]
Xian: "Excuse me sir. But how did you know of his test?"
        [Woudenal stares at Xian]
Woudenal: "I have my ways. Just like I knew it was you who
          were coming."
        Xian: "Magic?"
Woudenal: "You are curious aren't you? Magic of sorts. But
my friend here" [He nods at the firesnake] "He shows me
things. I can see through its eyes at times. I have this
          ability with many animals."
Caladan: "So that's how? After all these years. I always
wondered. The snake has no memory but it seems to understand
things and do things one with no memory should not be able
to do. Now it makes sense. How come you never told me?"
Woudenal: "You never asked." [He smiles] "It has been a long
time. Six years since you've been here. It is good to
see you Sundancer. But yes. I suspect I can help. I
do not know what is going on the plains. But here in
the mountains. I have learned a few things.]
[Suddenly the rear door opens and a large black man comes
walking in. Farseeker grabs his sword and almost stands]
Woudenal: "Agreth make sure the candle is out in the shop
I forgot to put it out."
[The black man nods and speaks a few words in a language
no one seems to understand. He grabs something off a rear
table and heads back out. As he does Jordi notices the
room seems to be dark where he came from. The door shuts
         as he leaves.]
        Caladan: "Who is that?"
Woudenal: "He helps me here. I helped him from some slavers
in the mountains a couple years ago. Since then he helps
          me with things around here."
Caladan: "i see. So this help?"
Woudenal: "Of course. One animal I use as my eyes is a nice
hawk that lives in the valley to the east. He travels
outwards of up to 30 miles sometimes. Through him I
spotted several caravans of L'p'nth moving about the
mountains. While not so unusual these were carrying
supplies that looked more for large cities. I did more
investigation. I have a contact among the L'p'nth
who i help their family at times. He tells me there is
a new person in Castle Kaar."
        Xian: "Kaar?"
Woudenal: "Its a castle ...well about 35 miles east of
where Chion here landed. It was built some 150 years
ago by a rich L'p'nth who refused to live in their
main eastern lands. He was later killed by disease.
His castle fell to looters and few knew of its true
existance. its set into the mountains itself. Righ
in the niche of hills and mountains. From what I
understand around 2-3 years ago someone went and took
          over the place."
Farseeker: "I'm sorry. But what does this have to do
          with the Zen'da?"
Woudenal: "Because I've learned the Zen'da are visiting
          this castle."

        --------------------------------------------------------

[Meanwhile back at the Grave site - Location a few miles
south-west of Caladan's village. Roughly 45 minute ride.
         Time: Roughly 8:25am]

[Strie'bog continues to seemingly talk to the trees.
Thig gives up trying to track the tracks further as
they just lead no where. He returns to the graves.
As the group examines the graves for anything out of
          the ordinary they find nothing.]

[Suddenly one of the warriors looks southward.]
         Warrior: "Look!"
[The group looks and sees 2 riders heading north-west.
They seem to be at full speed. Everyone but Strie'bog
watches them. At the angle they are heading they seem
to be heading for Caladan's village but will miss the
gravyes by maybe a good mile or so. Suddenly one of
the riders breaks off and slows his horse. He seems to
stare at the group and then rides full speed toward them.
The warriors make sure weapons are at the ready. As
the rider approches though they don't grab the weapons.]
         Warrior: "Its a warrior ..."
[The rider stops about 10 feet from the graves and yells
          out in Zen'da.]
Warrior 2: "Another grave site...just attacked. One...
[he gasps for air] killed...one guard killed.."
[Ben'dar asks where the site is.]
Warrior 2: "Clan Buog. Six graves...opened...happened
last night we guess...about 12 miles that way."
         [He points toward the east-south-east.]
Warrior: "You return to camp. Tell Cetric."
[The 2nd warrior that came with the group rides off to
join behind the new rider which has a good head start.]
         Trembyl: "Should we go?"
Balrog: [Translated] "Any one at the sites but the dead
           guard?"
         [Warrior 2 shakes his head.]
Trembyl: "So whoever it was is long gone. But sounds
like the graves are open unlike here."

        --------------------------------------------------------

        [Meanwhile in Woudenal's House]
         Time: Roughly 8:45am]

Caladan: "Zen'da don't visit these mountains unless on
hunting or war. Why would they visit a castle?"
Woudenal: "That i don't know. There is something else.
The L'p'nth seem to be building up around the mountains.
More patrols. More small forts being built. As if
           they are preparing for war."
Caladan: "The Zen'da can handle them in thsi area. Its
the eastern part they are numerous."
         Woudenal: "Maybe..."
