Watchful Sleep

In the Watchful Sleep spell the 'Damage listed is the number of hits that
he will heal AND the number of Mana Points that he will regenerate'.

Is this in Addition to, or Instead of the normal healing roll (1.3251) and
mana regeneration (1.3272)?

If it is Instead of, sometimes it would be disadvantageous to cast the
spell. Indeed, high MEL wizards would get more mana back by simply resting
unless it is in Addition to.
