Admin Notes: None.
[Recap]

From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra says "Thank you! I am indebted to you for...

Later she will ask those that speak Dwarven Elder as a native
tongue if they would allow her to learn that language. If so
she will ask them to have a conversation near her while she
practices her Tongues spell (EL0 at 5xcost and thru her
staff).
GM: Ack.

From Unali: [Re: Actions]
When Z'leyra expresses her intent to learn Dwarven Elder, if
Unali is nearby, she asks to be included in the conversation
and borrows the langiage amulet for that occasion.
GM: Ack. Let me check if 4/10 is free on list below. Done.
Not used since 4/5. Not many taking the opportunity.

From Bess: [Re: Posting]
[OOC: I'm very pleased with Raddok's actions in updates #39-40,
even if he got no exp points. He's just as happy that he didn't
have to actually encounter the giant! Will send action update
soon.]
GM: Ack. Thanks and no problem. :)

From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
Greatly relieved at seeing Z'leyra slowly come around,....

As for the dagger fight, Raddok is eager to watch, and he places
a bet of 3 brass bits (all he dare spend) on Kiet, altho' he is
not really sure his new friend can beat the dagger maiden. An
intriguing duet is about to play, he thinks, and prepares to
enjoy himself. (He remains armed with mace & shield.)
GM: Ack. No tools were damaged just railing.

From Panthera: [Re: new game]
Since Scott has expressed his desire to quit running his PBeM
campaign I thought I would offer a chance to continue your c
chracters in a new campaign.
GM: Ack. To clarify. I never said would stop now. I did say this
COULD be the last adventure. After 20 years (next June) they
say one should end something on a high mark. ;) In terms of
pbems that 90% of time end in 6 months that's a big deal.
I only see one other pbem (a trek game) that has been running
a bit longer (vague info but maybe 3-4 years longer). Course
I've done pbems since mid '80s a good decade earlier. But
for one campaign/system its 20 years. Now will this be the
last ? I dunno. I do want to run adventures centered around
each pc like this one is for Dorhak. Donara was for Fremea.
I also want to plan on 2 more good adventures Jordi/kicking
Climans out of Fort Affae and of course Xian's big one which
I previewed with that odd portal intro at start of this
adventure. :) I simply am listening to Fringeowrthy podcast
and so eager for that again. In fact yesterday I came up with
a full adventure in span of 10 min. A single word came to
my head and figured that's cool. Then added 3-4 more lines
to my outline. Nice. So added more and more details in my
head and was done. A supernatural, scifi and fantasy genre
game all in one. So we'll see next year. Ii do enjoy less
'detailed' systems (pnp is inventory/sheet intensive) so
would give me more free time. But this is also a stress
relief and I like the fun of imagination. :) I mean I'd
love to have Alex or David run a game. :) HINT HINT. But
sure if folks wanna run a game...power to ya!

From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
Since Pyan has more money than he knows what to do with and
wants to feel helpful, he'll offer to pay for the medical
supplies.
GM: Ack. To clarify the healing kit Raddok grabbed on lockers
wasn't his I figured just a group kit. Since sailors get
bruised A LOT on ship. But you are free to help with
his lost grappling hook and any other gear he may have. :)

From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Gathering those that Z'leyra had seen directly save her l
ife she announces:

"I would like to show my appreciation in a useful form.....
GM: Ack. Did I miss the forge and machine shop below
decks? Was that installed last port? :)

From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]
Gods! We face terrible danger yet these people deal...
GM: Ack

From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
And Raddok accepts, gratefully, Pyan's offer to pay for
replacement medical supplies for his Kit.
GM: Ack. Technically wasn't your kit but the grappling hook could
be replaced. :)

From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
As Dorhak called out to have the ship distance...

"Give it a moment if you will. The giant might have...
----
When Dorhak called for a 'fair fight' between Unali and...

OOC: I asked Scott if Arawn would be aware of the heart NMI
due to his training and I believe the answer was, yes. But,
Scott, if I'm wrong on that then just say so and assume the
last sentence wasn't said.
GM: Ack. Odd that OOC got out of order when I combined all the
posts into a file for editing. Cut/paste errors I guess. I
also seemed to have lost Fremea's post. Very odd.

From John: [Re: New game]
Not sure about how much time I'll have for this but just
curious, as you mentioned our being able to continue with our
characters, is this going to be you running a PnP game with a
Spelljammer theme? Or a completely different game/game
system?
GM: Ack. This game will continue till its end of adventure.
I'd suggest new characters if the new game started at
this time so folks can keep things private as needed.

From Panthera: [Re: new game]
Yes, It will use my Yiffiemon rule variant of PnP....
[Deleted since not for this game can read rest on site]
GM: Ack. So will you have a website/roll20/list? Those kind
of details will help. I will probably join if able time
wise depending on how many updates you do a week. Since this
game alone keeps me very busy. :)

From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
Seeing the faerry preparing for a plunge Arawn called out.

"If you find the body try and mark the spot if you can,...
GM: Ack. For some reason this post/file got lost I see it now
but its on archives but on my site not yet. Will try to
fix that but as above I 'see it' :) Diving into water
to find treasure wow. Do know swimming. Ok. Ack. :)

From Mournath: [Re: Actions]
[thoughts to self] I can't believe it's dead. I can't ...
GM: Ack.

From Pyan: [Re: Actions]
Pyan, "I'm fine with the language necklace and the....
GM: Ack.

From Fremea: [Re: Diving]
Fremea feels a bit winded with helping to get the soggy....
GM: Ack.

From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
Z'leyra orders "Drop the anchor! Drop and stow the...

"All right, if some of you are insane enough to go...
GM: Ack. Giant kin thanks for that suggestion!

From Raddok: [Re: Actions[
[OOC: Does this (treasure hunt) happen before or after the
dagger contest?]

As Raddok has not nearly completed his swimming training, he
elects to remain on board & help haul up any "treasure" etc....
GM: Ack. Before assuming folks survive the treasure hunt.
-------------------------------------------------------------
[New Stuff]

[Apris 10th, 1636TH]
[Time: 2:27 pm]

Dorhak looks around with hands on hips.

Gods! We face terrible danger yet these people deal with
it so quickly! Without them, certainly all would have been
lost. And almost losing the barbarian woman was bad enough.

Dorhak, knowing nothing about how to fix broken humans,
chooses to observe and not try to give orders. The big elf
is sure quick to respond. At least he was successful in
reviving the weird shaman.

Dorhak first talks to his kinsman, Barbasa, after that amazing,
but foolish rescue of the human sailor. "Hah! You foolish
youth! What you did out there in the water was crazy. And
amazing. Perhaps we call you Barbasa Alda...Barbasa of the
Waves. Surely no other dwarf has brought honor to his House
in this way! Well done, lad!" Dorhak claps him soundly on
the back.

"All-right! Navigator! Resume course. Put some distance
between us and the giant. No telling what might come looking
around. All hands on deck for work details. If you can help
with repairs, then do so. If not, you can haul things."

"Thanks to all who helped stop that...monstrosity, whatever
it was! We have been fortunate once again."

Dorhak goes over to Z?leyra, before she rises, and puts his
hand on his shoulder. He tries to give a comforting look to
the first mate but it probably just makes her nauseous. He
says "Not you. Get some rest. You?ve been through enough
today."

Zepp gives water to Finn and wonders why folks give water
to a man who just drowned? He speaks up to Dorhak's
comments. "I believe that was a Sea Giant in the river we
never see them. I'm glad we stay mostly on the river with
Damon's ships."

Z'leyra flutters her eyes open and begins to feel
her chest. Her clothing is blood soaked but she doesn't
seem to find any wounds. Arawn helps her sit up but
that is a bit of a chore as she is still bruised which
healer can't really help to cure. She glances at Arawn.

Z'leyra says, "Thank you! I am indebted to you for saving
my life."

Ardrackle at the steering wheel lightly speaks so the
first mate can hear. "Most captains..like Dorhak....do not
like lying down while others work." He grins wildly.

Raddok moves to get his shield. He then realizes
Unali had a grappling hook and rope on her back. Now that
he glances over no longer does. Wait. That was his hook from
his locker!

Greatly relieved at seeing Z'leyra slowly come around, and
not having been bashed himself by the giant, Raddok pauses &
relaxes enough to finally notice that the kidnapped sailor,
maybe more? (he wasn't really watching after Z'leyra fell)
has been rescued - & by the dwarf among others, no less -
very brave! The crew & the others had apparently worked
very efficiently together - admirable, indeed!

He is rather surprised at first, but ends up grinning at
Dorhak's complaint of people lying around on the job. He feels
the dwarf is releasing his worry by making everyone re-focus
on what now "is" as opposed to "was" just a minute or so ago,
and wants that subject /worry changed & gone. Raddok retrieves
his shield & Healing Kit when Arawn & anyone else who needs it
are finished with it. He carefully checks to see that the tools
from the kit are retrieved, so he can clean them & boil them
in water, before restoring them, wrapped in a clean, small
cloth, to the kit. He also compares the remaining supplies with
the list posted on the inside of the Kit's lid flap to note what
will need to be replaced at the next port. When the tools are
leaned, he will restore the kit to his locker on deck, with
relief that having it there was so useful, and add his needed
replacement supplies to the posted supplies list, adding his
name, & a request to be notified of any billing cost to him.

Z'leyra stands as Arawn gathers the supplies from the
kit back into the container. She waves Raddok over
to talk to both of them.

"I would like to show my appreciation in a useful form. As
one of the premiere human enchanters and metalworkers that I
know of, I can craft a useful item and imbue it with magic.
While I do not know the Dwarven and Elven secrets of metal I
DO know Kameri weapon making secrets and can make and enchant
excellent weapons. I also can make and enchant leather or iron
based armors. The armor I made for myself has helped keep me
alive a number of times

"So if you have an item that you would like for me to make,
let me know. While there are more spells that I do not know t
han I do know, I have a fairly broad selection of spells I can
ensorcel into objects. Most are at minimal levels of effecti
veness, but some are moderate and a few are exemplary. For i
nstance for weapon and armor enhancements I know of few equals
and even fewer that exceed my skill. I can make wands and
staves of considerable power. with a staff I can have it
double, as mine does, as a warstaff. Cap the ends with bronze,
copper, silver or even gold and one doesn't have to worry about
coming into casual contact with iron. I would make it artistic,
perhaps weaving symbols of power into the design. I could even
dedicate the item to your or your family lines' exclusive use..
.but advise against it since your necessary saliva or blood
impregnated into the object could possibly be used to direct
an evil spell against you if the item was stolen by an
evildoer"

"To create these items does take considerable time. Days,
weeks or for upper end armor, months. Add perhaps a day to a
week to imbue the object with the magical powers one desires.
Add in that even I cannot guarantee that the fickle winds of
fate won't interfere with the enchantments. Sometimes
enchantments don't work and one has to start over from
scratch. So think about it. Talk with me to see if I have the
necessary knowledge for the item you want."

Barbasa stands from his wobbly legs after venturing overboard.
he cocks his head hearing Z'leyra and comments after she
is done. "I may not understand this language you use as
well as others. That necklace thing helped. But did I
hear you say correctly 'dwarf secrets'?" He frowns and a fist
is forming on his right hand. "No humans are allowed to
learn such knowledge!"

As Dorhak called out to have the ship distance itself from
the dead giant's current location Arawn looked up to address
the captain.

"Give it a moment if you will. The giant might have some
worthwhile treasure on him or a lair nearby with the same. I'd
like to summon some elementals and take a look around for a bit."

Dorhak frowns and Ardrackle looks for orders from the captain.

Mournath looks around at the results of the quick combat.
[thoughts to self] I can't believe it's dead. I can't believe
we killed it!

Mournath stows his weaponry and moves to help any that are in
need of aid, helping to pull sailors trapped beneath fallen
objects or to gently move those injured but unable to move to
where aid can be rendered. Mournath helps where he can,
bandaging and sewing wounds as directed.

When he hears that others on board wish to go beneath the
waters and look for the giant's den his interest is peaked.
To see beneath the waves! A whole new world of exploration
to be penned about. Alas, it seems that summoned creatures will
be the vanguard of any such search.

Mournath speaks out loud, "where best can I aid?"

Dorhak assigns him to oversee the railing repairs.

Pyan reacts to Arawn's offer.

Pyan says, "I'm fine with the language necklace and the
battlemind, but I think I'll have to draw the line there....
although being an otter does sound fun."

Fremea starts to remove her quiver and bow.

Fremea feels a bit winded with helping to get the soggy
human back aboard the ship, then sees the Z has been hurt very
badly. Though she would have been glad to help with any of her
magics, it looks like Arawn had it handled. Then she turns to
the sinking giant and tries to remember what she has learned
about any of the supernatural properties about them and what
could be harvested. It is possible that some of the good stuff
god destroyed with that explosion of fire, but there still
could be good stuff.

Seeing the faerry preparing for a plunge Arawn called out.

"If you find the body try and mark the spot if you can," he
cried to her. "And if you can claim the heart, all the better.
Their power and immortality are held within."

Fremea is curious about this heart thing she was more
interested in what she saw behind the giant's back in that
large bag.

Z'leyra order. "Drop the anchor! Drop and stow the
sails! "

"All right, if some of you are insane enough to go seek the
giant's treasure we don't want to sail off and leave you
behind. I will stay on board...anyway I don't swim well and
certainly cannot hold my breath long enough to get to the
bottom and back. I suggest that you be wary of any kin that
giant may have."

As Raddok has not nearly completed his swimming training, he
elects to remain on board & help haul up any "treasure" etc.
that the others find. Hopefully, he says, "They should set up a
good pulley system to haul up whatever is deemed worthy, but
with equipment that can be left behind or dropped overboard
in an emergency. Then again, if our people are using those
ropes to haul themselves back up, we should be ready to help
them." He searches out around the ship at the empty ocean
horizon - hopefully it will stay empty.

Fremea quickly dives to see about getting anything good
before it is all gone.

Zepp watches the strange winged girl dive into the water
and shakes his head. "Not a wise thing. According to the
maps this area can be as deep as 150-250 feet depending.
That thing...will sink fast. Doesn't give much time to
look around a body before one drowns and needs to surface."

Fremea uses her wings to navigate but soon due to the
pressure and weight and simply not using them much under
the water, she begins to get slower. The giant's body is
now well past the ship as by time Arawn spoke and ship
moved away they were a good distance away. She tries to
figure out if the bubbles rising up from one spot is the
body or not. A inkish black blob is seen in the distance
and Fremea realizes that must be the blood from the
giant. She swims that way then surfaces for a new set
of breathes.

Fremea kicks and dives deep to the estimated spot and
sees a form but it is a couple hundred feet below. While
some humans have been known to dive 900 feet without aid
a Faerry with wet weighted down wings may not be as lucky.
She seems to reach at least 200 feet but she can't
really tell distance at all in this strange environment.

She glimpses the body is on his back face up and the bubbles
of gas that exit his body, clothing and such seem to
block a lot of the view. She reaches the chest of the
giant but then realizes her lungs are killing her. She
kicks to the belt area to see if she can find that item
she saw but if its on his back then chances are low. Her
vision begins to darken as her lungs burn.

Just as she reaches the belt area her mind rebels and
she kicks up and tries to surface. This time is far more
grueling with her wet wings. She surfaces and gasps for
air at the lapping waves.

Fremea can see the ship about 50 feet away seems to be
circling the area in a long arc.

On board Dorhak hears the word treasure and seems to go
numb as he ignores the rest of the conservation. Can the
small one get the treasure or will this become seems odd
quest?

As Fremea treads water, Baraosa on ship points and
yells "Shark!"

Fremea looks to where he is pointing and finds a fin
about 30 feet away moving her way. She knows seals
like the size of herself attract sharks. She shrugs she'll
just fly up to get to the ship. She flaps and flaps. But
the wings seems to refuse to work or are too water
logged. She commands her body to lift up to the sky as
the shark closes.

But nothing happens. The shark gets within a few feet
and she pulls her dagger. The shark lunges and bites
Fremea right on the lower left abdomen doing 8 points of
damage as the shark rips through her body and takes
a chunk away.

Fremea stabs her dagger at the passing shark and hits
in his side doing 6 points of damage. As she does this
she gasps through the pain and speaks a few words.

The shark wounded doesn't look like look like of seals who
fight back so moves away. Fremea then disappears appearing
back onto the deck of the ship teleported. She stands
and looks around and says "Medic" then collapses.

Z'leyra rushes to Fremea and sees a large section of
her side tore out but thank the gods it is below the
ribs and no vital organs. If it was on her back she
probably lose a kidney or such. While Arawn helps
to stop the bleeding Z'leyra casts a healing spell on
her. She plans for a high level spell so as she speaks
the words - knowing this isn't critical - she treats the
wound as best she can with the kit she had at hand.

Holding her staff she casts the healing spell and the
green magical healing energy sweeps through her wound
and quickly closes the wound. She heals 9 points of
damage and Fremea is back to normal.

Zepp comments, "more sharks coming. The blood from
the shark and giant are attracting them. " He glances
at Arawn. "You expect to dive with those sharks after
you saw what just happened?"

Arawn considers what Zepp moves as he moves to the
stairs. He asks Dorhak to keep the ship circling
for a few more minutes. Then he descends to get his
gear from a cabin and finds a talisman. He returns
to the top deck and notices for the first time some
blood from the giant it seems on the deck.

Looking over the side he raises the talisman and speaks
the words to activate it. He lowers his hands and waits.

Ardrackle glares a bit at Arawn as circling a ship
in place is a hard thing on the upper body.

It seems to take forever and Arawn just about gives
up when two figures surface out of the water. The
2 female undines glare up at Arawn. The sailors and
others look on and are a bit surprised.

Finn comments under his breath, "I'd never figured I'd
live long enough to see one of those...."

Brutto whispers back, "look at the .." Then realizes
Unali is glaring at the sailor. "The hair..I mean her
hair." As he looks down at the half naked mermaid.

"What do you want!" One yells.

Arawn asks for a favor to locate the giant's body and
his lair.

The other undine speaks, "You dare summon us here in
the middle of this feeding feast?" She glances at
the sharks nearby. "First you harm our brothers now
you ask a favor!"

Arawn cringes as he realizes these Undines may know
the mermen in this area. Arawn tries the best way he
knows to convince the undine.

"For material things? You surely jest!"

The other speaks up, "we can help...to a degree. We ask
help in return. A local village has been over fishing and
dumping their garbage in a local bay. This makes our
own food supply less."

The other undine repels two sharks that near by with her
own magic.

"If you make them agree to stop this ill treatment.
We will show you the lair and body."

Before Dorhak can protest, Arawn agrees and the dwarf
grumbles.

The undine grin a very toothy grin. "Not you..that one."
She points to Fremea leaning over the railing. "A good
scare from the likes of her....would convenience them to stop
over fishing for a good while. We do not demand they stop
as humans must eat. But there is a fine balance to the
sea that must be maintained. Deal or not?"

[Time: 6:21 pm]

The ship is about to be anchored and the passengers prepare
for dinner. The final day's chores are made and the folks
begin to settle down and wait for dinner. The sun is low
on the horizon making the sky ablaze with orange and reds.

Kiet is more than happy to help train the people that want
to learn dagger. He's unlikely the best user...ahem...Unali..
.but he can certainly train the uninitiated.

Kiet has an idea about training. And maybe just to break up
the monotony. Kiet approaches Unali about helping him put
on a demonstration. "I think it might be instructive for the
others, and maybe fun for us, if you and I have a knife fight.
Real blades, but no magic blades. To first blood. Obviously,
the skill involved would be drawing blood without causing
serious damage. What do you say?"

"We both know you could carve me like a holiday fowl, but
we all have ways to keep any damage from being permanent." He
looks at her and smiles. "Or are you afraid..."

Unali to Kiet: "It would be good to show that a simple blade
or two can be just as effective and scary as a blundering idiot
with a trident." She flinches a bit and glances at Z'leyra
and hopes the words don't sting. "Tomorrow morning when the
air is still fresh would seem a nice time. Up for it?"

[Apris 11th, 1636TH]
[Time: 6:13 am]

The ship is waking up from the previous day's events of
the giant's attack. Night watches end and night duties
and chores are finished. The sun is rising and creating
a illusionary appearance of the sun boiling the sea. As
it bathes the sky in orange and crimson.

Upon hearing about the funny acrobats ridiculous challenge
to the dark human woman, Unali, he considers disallowing it.
That woman is pretty scary and anyone would be wise not to mess
with her. If Kiet wants her to carve her initials in his hide
there are better ways to go about it. Still, Dorhak knows that
nothing they do to each other would be permanent. He goes to
the first mate to discuss it. Z?leyra informs him of the intent
of the two, about weapons and magic use.

Dorhak frowns upon hearing that Unali intends to use two
daggers. The challenge is an interesting one and, gods know,
except for giants walking on water there really is little to
break up the monotony. He tells Z?leyra "all right then. They
can have their fun. You will be the referee. No armor for
either of them. No magic, especially weapons. Have Fremea or
Arawn verify it! No cheating! Which reminds me. You said
Unali intends to use two daggers to Kiet?s one? No. Please
inform her this is to be a fair, um, fight. Even except for
skills. One dagger each." he thinks for a second and makes a
slight smile. "Besides, soon after they start she'll probably
have both daggers anyway. Heh-heh."

Arawn nods and knows he and Fremea can ensure no magic is
used during the fight.

When Dorhak called for a 'fair fight' between Unali and Kiet
the alfar grinned and quietly commented, "Don't underestimate
one -handed play. It's the empty and available hand that's the
true danger in battle. It's often ignored while offering more
options."

Unali listens to all of this and wonders how this fun
training got into a full blown show. But she knows that
sailors get bored on such trips and they need excitement.
She watches as several make bets. Maybe next time they
can duel in the hold alone in private without much of
an audience. But she will do as requested and show
the others a nice fight. Silently she moves down stairs
to grab two of her spare daggers.

Coming on deck now dressed in her regular black clothing
she carries two daggers. Z'leyra and Dorhak remind her
only 1 dagger. She stares for some time as that would actually
be a bad thing to do for her. But she can adapt and still win.
She belts one dagger for her left hand and walks forward. She
presents and bows to Z'leyra and Dorhak. Arawn and Fremea
examine the daggers of both and are satisfied.

Kiet stands with feet apart and left fist balled. As he
watches the eyes on him he frowns a bit. This isn't a realistic
fight per se as folks will fight dirty in real situations. But
Dorhak commanded no cheating. Fine. He reaches behind him and
opens his fist. A faint slew of dust and sawdust falls from
his fist. He frowns as this will be skill on skill.

Both bow to each other and raise daggers and use other hands
to balance themselves. Feet apart ready for combat stance
they move forward and dance around each other testing and
studying each other.

Unali swings the dagger right at Kiet's chest but he raises
his left arm at that time and she hits the arm doing 6
points of subdual and 2 points of actual cutting damage. Unali
stands back and smiles.

"Seriously? That was it?" Zepp complains.

Sailors grumble or grin at the bet results

Kiet knows that she will also be faster in her
actions to his. But he also knows he is far better
acrobat than her. While she may have 3 to 1 odds
on any hit against him, he can use guile and cunning.
He ignores the minor cut on his arm.

Kiet raises the dagger for another duel before coin
is tossed. Sailors and others quickly make new bets.
But this time he says to use both daggers. He knows that
concentrating on one arm is far easier than doing 2. This
distraction allows him a slight edge..

Unali pulls out her second dagger and nods.

This time both circle dancing and feigning an attack.
But no one strikes out not wanting to risk exposure to
the other. Kiet breathes in and knows if he can tire the
woman it will also help. Unali gives a running commentary
in Marentian.

"One dagger circles to distract and seeks an opening between
the arm and opponents dagger where neck or belly are exposed.
The other dagger is held steady and ready to block."

"See how his eyes are distracted by the glimmer. A strike
from the other hand would kill instantly."

Unali thrusts at his upper chest but at the last second
he twists and steps back using an acrobatic back flip. He
feels the locker to his back and kicks off with one foot
using the locker as momentum to move behind Unali.

Kiet strikes at the back of her skull but she ducks and
springs using the spin to thrust the dagger at his belly.
But the blade goes wild and misses by a good inch.

"You can see the move instants before your opponent is
aware he is going to make it. His eyes drift, his muscles
tense, and you can already move your body to block."

They swing and dodge at each blow. This is what Kiet
wanted to be studied. A good actor can be also a good
fighter if he can show no emotions.

Unali swings and Kiet leaps sideways. Kiet
tries to thrust at her chest but she parries with her
other dagger.

Unali steps back and allows Kiet to feel comfortable.
Kiet uses the chance to duck and thrust but Unali uses
her dagger deflect the blow.

Unali pushes forward with her shoulder and daggers
and Kiet rolls to the ground and tumbles away.

"The head makes a wide open target here, left undefended by
the low dagger guarding the groin. Tempting, but all that bone
can deflect and blunt a good dagger. A feint to the eyes
followed by an cut to the soft underbelly is much more
effective. And the fear of losing parts is so instilled that
most men will go down from fear alone."

As she speaks Unali swings and stabs. Kiet rolls left
then right. Then kicks outward with his boots and kicks
Unali away giving him to rise to his feet.

Kiet looks like he has had enough and leaps on one of the
lockers. Unali rushes forward and thrusts but Kiet blocks
the strike with his own dagger. That one was real close to his
pride and joy region.

"Use the second dagger to block his. Move closer and look
into his eyes. two daggers at equal strength and skill cancel
each other put. Here the second dagger is your price. Bring
it around to his back and pull in."

Kiet runs away from Unali and sailors groan. Why is he
running? Unali stands back and watches recovering her breath
from the kick to her chest.

"Well fought, but it is the dagger you should focus on, not
my body behind it. You were distracted."

Kiet nods and raises his dagger. Then stops and now about
15 feet away on the lockers which is about 4.5 feet above
the deck he squares his shoulders. Then charges.

Unali stands ready as she has seen such a tactic to charge
and do one forceful attack of desperation. Like when
Cholan's tavern was attacked during her birthday party the
enemy attacked from the stairs. But then she sees Kiet
smile and realizes this is a feignt.

Kiet does a very hard acrobatic leap and tumble in mid
air. As he folds his legs and arms together he leaps
over Unali's head. Unali swings and tries to parry with
one dagger and the other fails to hit the wild acrobat.

At the last second Kiet reaches out and taps with dagger
hilt onto the back of Unali's head and hits doing 7 subdual
and 3 points of actual damage.

Dagger staggers back just as Kiet lands behind her and
reaches out to catch the knocked out Unali. She slides
into his arms and he smiles.

All around some begin to applaud and cheer. This time
it wasn't pure strength and combat it was skill of how
to use the body. Coins are exchanged with Kiet the victor
this time.

Z'leyra rushes to inspect Unali's head and finds it a light
bruise with a small cut but there is indeed blood. But
it isn't bleeding badly. She treats the wound.

Soon Unali wakes and Kiet stand over her with a apple
in a hand. He grins and mumbles that sometimes like a apple
worm there can be surprises all around you. He then helps
her up.

Unali reaches into her pouch and pulls a gold coin. She hands
it to Kiet. "Here, You win. Well Fought."
Next Update...Monday...

GM: That was fun! No. I did not fudge any numbers on the
dice. First combat was a very quick one. Before Kiet
could even react. Second one Kiet used the distraction
of the 'teaching' talk and her own body against her.
Kiet is the better acrobatic while Unali is better for
sure combat wise. So Kiet had to use his skill in
that area. I think it was a fun combat. I had hoped
to detail it more word-image but run out of time today
with an hour left.

As to the mermaids. Fremea do you accept? This was
a simple random encounter so trying to make this as
quick as possible to not delay things. I had hoped
to move us to next encounter/port but alas. :<

Sorry for delays I had hoped to finish this Monday
but staff felt they wanted sleep more and so was
delayed by 13-14 hours starting late :<
