If Z'leyra can see the tree that the vines come from she will<br>
cast a Firedart at it from her helmet. She will try to interpose<br>
her shield between the clone Pyan and Pyan.<br>

Beyond patching and protecting him Z'leyra will try to<br>
determine if Pyan will survive till morning without magical<br>
healing. If he will she will hold off doing magical healing<br>
till morning. She wraps a bandage to hold the wand in Pyan's<br>
hand. She slips an artistic ring off her finger onto one of<br>
Pyan's fingers to improve his luck.<br>
<br>
If she determines that his needs to have magical healing<br>
immediately, that he won't survive even a minute without<br>
healing she will ask Arawn to cast a healing. If he will<br>
survive at least a minute but not till morning she will get<br>
or have fetched her drum, Orient Self herself EL0 and then<br>
cast a Max EL shamanic Healing spell.<br>
GM: Ack. Actions are fine but I would assume saving Pyan is #1.<br>
Taking time to glance at tree to fire a dart would take at<br>
least 2-3 seconds. Then you might hit 5 of the others in the<br>
way so I'll assume you do not. Same with shield moving that<br>
would mean taking hands away from chest compressions and that<br>
would be very risky.<br>

She is unhappy at herself for fumbling and then missing a tree.<br>
Seriously, a TREE. Maybe she just is to used to missing them<br>
when she flys around them.<br>

you slaughtered dozens even moving targets. But a simple<br>
tree....well this is my fumble rules. Can have a 200% chance<br>
of success but if get that fumble # then its all over. :<<br>

The tree is obviously dangerous...and deadly. The Pyan<br>

REALLY DO)...but I also don't know how many of these things it<br>
may create. Stop them while we can.<br>
GM: Ack. One low price of a tree! We'll throw in vines and a naked<br>
dude but wait..there's more! For one down payment of your soul<br>
you get a Naked Pyan, vines and ...<br>

Fremea raises her bow and knows her magical fire arrow<br>
spell will fade soon. She hopes she doesn't fail again or<br>
she'll have to be like Kaylle sitting in a boring library.<br>
She fires the arrow that flares up and impacts against the<br>
tree. The thick tree bark is parted from the impact and<br>
the arrow does half of its damage doing 6 points to the<br>
tree.<br>
<br>
The summoned beast lunges for Naked Pyan but the duplicate<br>
is too agile and the creature fails to make contact.<br>
<br>
Unali looks up to see Fremea firing on a tree and figures<br>
with the vines disabled at the base the new threat is against<br>
Pyan. She never saw Naked Pyan pass but when she glances to<br>
the side and sees the group around some naked person this<br>
must be a new threat. She moves that way. She shouts, "Anyone<br>
got an axe. Cut down that tree. Now."<br>
<br>
Unali passes Dorhak who is singing some odd thing. Why<br>
is he singing drawing others this way? She glances at Fuk<br>
who is looking for targets. She passes Mournath who seems<br>
to be just standing there not moving for some reason. Maybe<br>
the sailor is not used to such fights? Then she rounds Kell<br>
and comes directly behind Naked Pyan. Both magical daggers stab<br>
Naked Pyan in his back doing 15 and 18 points of damage each<br>
killing the duplicate. Unali looks at the beast with the red<br>
eyes and wonders if she should kill it now?<br>
<br>
Arawn wishes they had bandages but there is no time to<br>
get them. He finally says in Marentian, "fetch her satchel."<br>
so they can get some bandages. Ripping Pyan's ruined tunic<br>
he wraps the wand and hand so the wand remains in place as<br>
Z'leyra does chest compressions. Arawn knows this is very bad<br>
with little chance to do much good.<br>
<br>
Mournath who had turned to face Naked Pyan sees the copy<br>
fall to Unali's daggers. He makes a mental note to not<br>
make her upset. Too bad he can't speak or he'd whistle.<br>
Then he feels his hands lessen up and his shield and spear<br>
fall to the ground as muscle tension fades. That might actually<br>
alert others of his situation or they'll think he is crazy.<br>
<br>
Kell watches Naked Pyan fall and kicks him to ensure the<br>
man is dead. He remarks at how little body fat is on<br>
the hunter's rear end and guess hunting is a good way to<br>
exercise.<br>
<br>
Z'leyra sees on her forward side vision Pyan #2 fall.<br>
She is unsure how a second could be here as there is no<br>
time to even consider it. She glances to the side hearing<br>
Unali talk about cutting down a tree. So the tree in<br>
the distance near Fremea is the source? She considers blasting<br>
it with her helmet but could hit Fuk, Dorhak, Mournath and<br>
Fremea in the process. Her assessment is bad and figures<br>
Pyan will not last seconds once she stops forcing his heart<br>
form pumping by compressions. So there is no choice. She<br>
tells Arawn to heal him now. She stops her work and removes<br>
her luck ring and places it on Pyan's finger and holds the<br>
Wand in his hand. If Arawn fails in the next 3-5 seconds to<br>
heal him Pyan will not make it.<br>
<br>
Fuk looks around and sees Mournath drop his shield and<br>
spear? Is the sailor that weak of heart? Then he hears<br>
Arawn yell to get the satchel. It must be that thing the<br>
Shaman carries. It should be in her tent. The constable<br>
sheathes his sword and runs toward the tent. As he does<br>
he yells to Lucria, "get up you lazy bum!"<br>
<br>
Lucria grunts and rolls over. Did he just hear his name?<br>
That howl was loud and he realizes that it must not be a dream.<br>
He jerks up and sits up in his tent. What is going on?<br>
<br>
Kiet nods to Unali for her good work. So there is a tree<br>
that is being mean. He steps toward the east to get a better<br>
look. His new magical vision shows Fremea firing on a tree.<br>
It is that bad to fire a arrow into a tree? Maybe some fire<br>
can help warm up the cold of the night.<br>
<br>
Mae frowns at seeing Naked Pyan killed before her beast could<br>
do much to it. Then she hears the comments on the tree and<br>
glances to the darkness to the right. But she can only see<br>
darkness in that area but that is where the dagger maiden came<br>
from? So should she have the beast attack the tree? Hounds<br>
do mark trees but how does one get a hound to attack a tree?<br>
<br>
Dorhak frowns at seeing a new target fall to Unali. He<br>
continues to sing, "Even though they line our pockets with<br>
brass, We'd sooner suck ale..." Sure he has a axe but they<br>
are for battle not dulling on a cutting a tree. How could<br>
a tree be THAT bad?<br>

[Time: 4:05:24 am]<br>
[Phase 8]<br>
<br>
Fremea fires her bow this time with no fire magic on it<br>
and hits the tree but it bounces off the thick hide. At<br>
least the arrow is not destroyed.<br>
<br>
Kiet raises his hand at the tree having a good line of<br>
sight and casts his magical ring on his left hand. Only<br>
Fremea is in the way but she is too far up to likely<br>
be hit - hopefully. The magical flame shoots form his<br>
ring and slams into the tree doing 28 points of damage.<br>
The tree erupts into flame and begins to blaze like a<br>
fresh torch. Kiet grins that'll teach that tree not to<br>
mess with them again!<br>
<br>
Arawn makes his gestures and casts a healing spell upon<br>
Pyan. He figures the man has a 50/50 chance of death from<br>
it. He casts his priestly healing upon the hunter. The<br>
green healing energy enters Pyan's body and heals him slightly<br>
giving him some life.<br>
<br>
Fremea figures the tree is dead or soon will be based on<br>
the amount of fire damage it just took as bark, limbs, and<br>
nearby bushes around it are burning. She circles back to<br>
hover over the group.<br>
<br>
Z'leyra checks Pyan and feels a steady heartbeat. She<br>
looks up to see if anyone got her satchel and then finally<br>
takes in the scene. The tree is burning which gives plenty<br>
of light for about 80 feet around. She notices Fuk half way<br>
inside her tent? Maybe he went to get her satchel. She<br>
figures Pyan should live but needs to get this bleeding stopped<br>
soon. It is mostly blotted but needs cleaning and dressing.<br>
<br>
Lucria exits his tent and notices the burning tree and gaps<br>
in confusion. Then he sees the party over Pyan and rushes<br>
to see what he missed.<br>
<br>
Mae looks around but sees no other threats for now. That<br>
must mean time to get rid of the beast before it attacks her.<br>
<br>
Fuk exits Z'leyra's tent and runs toward Z'leyra with her<br>
satchel but does not get there yet.<br>
<br>
Dorhak continues to sing, "...through a nappy ol' blanket,<br>
Than thimbles of wine from a glass!"<br>
<br>
Kiet, Dorhak and Kell then see something strange. From<br>
the burning tree a cloud of blackness emerges. It seems to<br>
engulf the tree blotting out the fire so it can't be seen.<br>
It emerges from or moves through the tree. It hovers<br>
for a few seconds then moves toward the party.<br>
<br>
Dorhak blinks as he sees this circle of darkness about 18 feet<br>
in diameter moving toward the party. Is this a cloud of smoke?<br>
<br>
The summoned beast turns toward the cloud of darkness and<br>
growls.<br>
<br>

Next Update..Monday...<br>

GM: Now the tough part begins. Critical actions will be needed<br>
or this will be very bad and messy. I did not plan this so<br>
don't blame me it was just a random encounter. :) How does<br>
one fight a cloud? I will work on update Monday afternoon<br>
I hope. I have a thing that afternoon so hope to get it<br>
done by evening (8pm) Monday. There is only the cloud as<br>
a threat now. Pyan is stable for now and will live as long<br>
as not touched. We still have a couple others who are<br>
wounded or frozen. This is not good. :< All will see<br>
the cloud eventually (1-3 seconds) except Mournath who is<br>
facing west (back to cloud).<br>

Just as a warning the cloud will move first. Then after that<br>
the summoned beast and others. Just a FYI.<br>
<br>
