                 Phase 9:
                 OOC:   As Arawn had fired at #1 
I figure he'd have noticed the witch and Unali 
disappear in the same area even if he isn't able to see the stairs yet.

                 IC:
                 As Arawn's arrow plunged into the leader he saw Unali close 

                 "Check on Unali!," he called out 
in the direction of Opus, Kimis, 


                 At the same moment he did this 
he maneuvered himself slightly via levitation so 
that the witches wouldn't know exactly where he 
was. He put his bow away and prepared his buckler 
and dagger, guiding himself so that he could 
melee the witches while still maintaining height 
advantage.  (OOC:   I figure all this will take 
up his attack action but if he is able to pull 
off a Martial Arts kick while doing so please feel free to roll for Arawn)

                 [Phase 10:
                 With his buckler and elven 
dagger in hand he positioned himself to aid Pyan 
or Z'leyra with their opponents (witch b or d), 
moving to help Dorhak if the witches were already 
done or the dwarf was in trouble.
                 He'll take advantage of 
Invisibility and Height Advantage bonuses while in melee.
            GM: Ack.  Yes.  You see Unali/#1 dip below the ground only.

                 [OOC: my error - I guess 
Mournath entirely disappeared. I had assumed some 
dust or glittery remnants remained, like ash, to 
blow away in the wind. Please correct my error if there's nothing to see.]
            GM: Ack. You did fine.  Yes there is 
ash.  Maybe clothing bits and maybe a boot or so.

         [Time:  2:30:24 pm]
         [Phase 9]

            Unali runs down the hall and enters a 
small threshold to a room where she sees Fremea fighting 3 females.

         [Time: Minutes before party finds this site]


            Fremea flies off to face what lies ahead.....

            As Fremea flies about 30-35 feet 
above the dense canopy of trees, she spots a 
group of vultures.  She dives slightly to the 
east and heads that way. Another 100 feet and she 
scares the birds away.  She looks down and sees 
little. But Fremea gets lower near the ground and 
finds a body of a Bes.  Pulling her dagger she 
scans for enemies but sees nothing.  She lands 
carefully and inspects the body.  A single sword 
piercing blow is seen mid chest and enough blood 
shows it was a quick death.  Its too clean to be 
a animal or creature.  She figures it to be a 
blade of some kind. Probably a sword?

            She sees the spear of the Bes with 
blood so maybe the Bes got a good hit back. In 
one hand is a piece of cloth, looks to be blue maybe from a tunic?

            She is no tracker like Pyan.  But she 
tries to find a blood trail.  It looks like a 
faint one heading North east.  She hovers in that 
direction slowly to follow the trail that goes 
for 30 or so feet.  Then suddenly it stops.  She 
finds a bandage and a torn cloth from a blue 
shirt or pants?  Whoever it was they must've stopped the bleeding.

            The trail ends.  She flies toward the 
NE to see if she can spot anything.

            As she dodges and weaves among the 
tall trees, she flies for 5 or so minutes.  A 
bird squawk makes her look to the right.

            BAM!

            Fremea suddenly finds herself 
stopping by ...by..air?  She slides down from the 
impact dazed and a bruise forms on her forehead.

            Wait.  There is nothing there?

            She flies a bit forward and waves her 
dagger back and forth.  It suddenly impacts 
against air.  No some invisible structure?

            She reaches out and touches it to 
find something solid there.  She finds it's a 
column or round chimney style thing.  As she 
circles it its about 5 feet wide.  She moves down 
and it's on the ground and seems to go underground?

            But she can't locate a hatch or door?

            She hovers upward to see how far high 
this goes.  It breaks the canopy which is about 
60 feet high in this area.  It goes up more and more.  Another 40...60...

            Finally she finds the top about 150 
feet above the ground.  All invisible.

            She moves her hands above the top and 
finds grooves where it may open.  But she can't 
find a knob or latch or anything.

            It would take time to explore the 
full surface to find a window or hole or such.

            She wonders if she should alert Dorhak?

            The sapphire doesn't seem to work.  It may be not an actual lock.

            Fremea considers her options. She has 
some innate ability to cast some magic for her 
Sidh based abilities.  She decides to cast 
Insubstantial and then Levitate so she can enter the structure.

            Using the wand she lowers 
herself.  As she passes the top it does seem 
maybe a hatch but no locks.  But it is pitch 
dark...so hard to tell.  Since she can no longer 
touch things she can't tell detail.  But it looks 
like it may be a hatch that uses a twist wheel to open?

            About 70 feet down of the 150 you can see light at the bottom.
Another 10 feet the spells end.  She becomes 
solid again.  As she descend on wings now she 
hears a click, then from above, you look up to see a blue energy of ball.
It zooms toward Fremea and she tries to dodge but 
it homes in and impacts her mind.

            The psychic hammer bypasses her 
resistance and she is shocked mentally.
She suddenly feels paralyzed and falls.  She falls the 70 feet.

            She gets lucky and lands on her back 
on the ground hard knocking air out of her 
lungs.  But she is stunned by the hammer's spell.

            A shadow falls above Fremea and she 
glances up to see a form in the dim candle 
light.  "Hello Fremea...at least its not Thig."

            Then a heavy object blams into 
Fremea's head and she is knocked out.

            Unsure how long time has passes..she 
wakes up to find hands bound by steel? Cuffs or shackles.

            There is a gag in her mouth probably 
so you can't cast verbal magic.
A blindfold is over her eyes.  A hood was placed 
on the head so Fremea can't see anything but darkness.

            Fremea can hear flickers of candles 
and a person working footsteps...

            "...he said they might find me.  I must 
"

            The voice is a heavy accented 
Marentian but with undertones of Ba'ru?

            Then she hears a door close and feet moving away...

            With aching headache she can't place 
who the voice is.  But clearly the man seems to 
know her and Thig?  To consider Thig a worse 
threat shows he may have good info?  But he is 
underestimating her that's good for her.  She 
tries to move her hands which are behind her 
back.  Her necklace is around her neck and she 
considers her next move.  The footsteps seem to 
be one person probably wearing boots on a floor of light – not hard – wood?

            Etain taught her to use her other 
senses and now it seems to come in hand.

            Fremea listens carefully to make sure 
the footsteps really did move away and then she 
will use her training to get the cuffs in front 
of her, so that she can  use her sapphire on the cuffs.

            Fremea listen to the footsteps and 
they are clearly heavy so male. She tries to move 
her bounds under her butt but the chain links 
interfere as they interlock too tightly.

            Then Fremea hears a voice. Muffled 
but male from outside and sounds like slightly 
up?  She doesn't understand  the voice.  But it 
seems agitated.  Shocked. Angry.

            Then she hears a muffled female 
voice.  Still unsure what is said.  She seems to speak a quick series of words.

            Then suddenly the male voice screams and ends.

            Fremea retries and  this time get 
hands under her legs and with grace of a martial 
artist pulls the cuffs around her feet.  Watching 
Kiet do some acrobatics and Unali as well gave her tips on how to do this.

            Then it is easy to pull up the cuffs 
to her neck and to the sapphire at her neck.  She 
hears a click.  She pulls the gag out before anything.

            Then more footsteps.  It sounds like 1 or 2 ? maybe more?

            These are lighter steps.  Then a 
female comes near and she speaks a few 
words.  Another female is heard and seems to ask 
a question, it sounds like? Fremea gets the idea 
they are talking about Fremea now.

            By now cuffs are unlocked and it is 
only a matter of effort to throw cuffs off and pull hood off if needed.

            The first female voice which is the 
one you heard outside answers and then seems to 
move away slightly.  The other female does 
something which Fremea recognizes the sound of a 
blade being pulled out of its sheath or holding place.

            As Fremea hears the blade starting to 
come out of its sheath, she will make a quick 
strike attack (either to make the attacker prone 
or at least stop the blade being pulled out) at 
where the sound is and remove her hood at the 
same time. Then a follow up attack with her dagger.

            She counts not just to orient herself 
in the space she is in and the time, but her soul 
as Etain taught her to calm down.  She slows her 
breathing and time seems to slow down.  She hears 
the blade user seem to walk forward ever so 
slightly as clothes rustle and she estimates time and distance.

            Then the first female seems to speak 
more strange words and Fremea is startled to hear 
crumbling noises.  As if a wall collapsed?

            Sitting in a chair she should be 
level to any blade coming her way.  She braces 
her feet to the front arm legs.  Closer the rustling is heard.

            She uses her legs and lunges off the 
chair forward.  She hopes the attacker is coming 
to her  directly in front.     Ducking head 
slightly she lunges and hits some person?  Using 
a martial arts sweeping leg roll she trips the 
person together with her tackle and both fall to the ground.

            Fremea moves her hands and throws off 
the cuffs as she reaches to her head and pulls 
the hood off.  She sees 3 human females wearing 
green and brown.  Two are about 4 feet away 
staring at her.  The other is on the ground 
startled.  Fremea glances around to memorize the room.

            Fremea spots her bag and weapons in a corner but too far!

            Fremea can also see to her left and 
above seems to be a destroyed section of the 
room?  Part of a wall and is that a desk or chair?

            The tackled female gets to her hands 
and knees.  She draws her hand with a dagger up 
and then toward Fremea.  But Fremea rolls away as 
the blade hits the wooden floor.  Fremea smiles.

            She knees the female in the chest and 
at the same time does an arm grab for the 
dagger.  Any first level martial artist learns 
this lesson.  Shift hands and wrist up then 
down.  Pull arm and wrist away from each 
other.  The female in pain drops the dagger.

            Fremea grabs the dagger and with 
great force kicks the female away from her.  On 
her back, Fremea can see she is 3 to 1.  The 
other two are both pulling daggers out.  This 
room is about 20 by 20 so a tight spot with maybe 
15 x 15 in free space.  A chest – probably 
clothing is to Fremea's right.  The pile of wood 
and stone is to her left and was something once.

            Fremea knows that it is more 
difficult to fight 3 to one and she only has this 
one dagger, and no magic right now. She could use 
her special item, but then it might affect other 
things in the forest and she is not wanting to 
upset anything down here that she does not need 
to. It seems best to make sure these women don't keep an advantage on her.

            She remembers her lessons well, even 
if she did not want to have them, and she has a 
little help that these women don't know about. 
She quickly taps twice on her Armor Pin, 
activating the spell held inside, sweeping her 
legs around (and using her wings to boost the 
move) she pops up onto her feet and charges the 
women. The first she will use a technique to 
unbalance and throw to the side, the second she 
will use her momentum from the throw to sling 
herself into and use the acquired dagger to take out as quickly as she can.

            Fremea activates her pin then uses 
her wings on her back to propel herself up then 
her legs and feet to jump – a acrobatic martial 
act that can damage most normal human backs 
unless trained – to her feet.  She charges the 
two females unsure which is the spell 
caster.  But based on height the one on right 
must be it. If height determines status in such cultures.

            She reaches for the taller ones left 
hand which is dagger free and feigns a stab at 
her chest.  But at same time she sweeps the 
females left leg not to trip but to cause her to 
lose balance.  The female stumbles slightly off 
with her center of gravity off but is starting to 
recover.  But Fremea turns right, knowing the 
other female will stab at her back so plans for 
this by ducking – it helps to be smaller.  As she 
does she flings the taller female to the right 
and pushes with her hands to give her 
momentum.  The female goes flying toward the area Fremea fell from.

            The female next to Fremea stabs at 
Fremea's right upper chest but her newly reinforced armor blocks any damage.

            As the tall female goes flying away 
the kicked one that Fremea wrestled with recovers 
and charges.  But at the last instant both her 
and Tall One collide. The Tall one grunts and 
roars in anger and grabs the bumbling female and 
tosses her behind her and toward the area Fremea 
fell from.  The Tall one recovers standing and growls at Fremea.

            As the Tall one (F2) flings the other 
away (F3) the female hits the wall.    A subtle 
click is heard.  The female (F3) must've heard 
and it looks down to the shaft/tube entrance? 
Suddenly a blue sphere hits the female.  She collapses on the ground.

            Since she is ducked down Fremea stabs 
the female next to her (F1) doing 11 points to 
her lower right just above her hip.

            The stabbed female (F1) thrusts at Fremea but misses.

            The other female (F2) stands but does not charge Fremea.

            Fremea grins her little wicked smile at the tall one.

            Then the Tall Female (F2) speaks some 
words and points at Fremea.  A dark corona forms 
around Fremea and Dark Lightning encircles 
her.  She is immediately scorched by the heat of the dark lightning.

            Fremea realizes she only has 15-20 
sec maybe to live.  She has to kill the witch 
NOW.  She changes her plans and charges the 
witch.  As she does she buffets her wings to 
create a parachute like effect to slow her down 
but also to give her guidance to uplift her 
body.  As she does She leaps up and stabs at the 
tall one's head – a difficult attempt by the most skilled.

            Female F1 who was stabbed moves and 
swipes at Fremea but misses. The Witch (F2) also thrusts at Fremea but misses.

            Fremea gets behind the Tall One and 
leaps onto her back.  She grabs the neck of the 
Witch and reaches around shoving the dagger 
toward her eye but the last second the female 
tilts her face up and the dagger pierces into her 
lower jaw/neck.  The damage is 17 points.  But 
the blade pierces the carotid artery and and she 
should die quickly hopefully.  Both Fremea and witch fall to the ground.

            The first female stabbed (F1) swipes 
and hits Fremea's left leg but with her armor and 
armor spell she takes no damage.

            Fremea is pissed off, and instead of 
hoping that the witch dies, she will jerk the 
dagger hard in the witch she is still with, 
ignoring the other one attacking, making sure she is dead.

            She will then turn her attention to 
the other one, waiting for the attack to come and 
then using her training again, to grab at the 
dagger coming at her and using the momentum to 
drag the woman in, using her dagger and the one 
Fremea is using to stab her, hopefully finishing her off.

            Once the standing one is dead, she 
will cuff the unconscious one (knowing that 
someone will want to question) and making sure 
her mouth is gagged, just in case. And then tied 
up extra if need be, then see if she can find her 
stuff and get outside to find the party.

            Fremea uses both hands to push the 
dagger up and into the sinus cavity and then the 
brain.  She twists the dagger to ensure bone and 
tissue mingle in a blood bath.  The dark lightning ends around her.

            The other female swings on Fremea 
hitting her in right middle ribs but her armor and armor spell protect her.

            The other female on the ground wakes 
up.  Fremea jerks a eyebrow these gals must be trained to wake up faster.

            Fremea charges (F1) the one standing 
and grabs her hand.  She tries to pull the dagger 
to the female's body but the woman deflects and she misses her strike.

            Female (F1) pulls the dagger back 
toward Fremea and impales Fremea in middle ribs 
again but again she takes no damage from her armor.

            The other female (F3) stands and 
grabs her dagger. She charges Fremea and hits her 
from behind on her right shoulder but her armor protects her.

            From to the right in a dark hallway 
Fremea can hear shuffling feet, then some kind of 
struggle then a wet sloppy something that sounds 
like a blade hitting a body.  She hopes its not more females to help these 2.

            Fremea charges the female charging 
(F3) but at the last second the female reaches up 
and deflects Fremea pushing her off and away.



         [Time:  2:30:24 pm]
         [Phase 9]

            Unali enters the room where Fremea is 
and sees her struggling with a female and another 
moving to attack her.  A third one seems to be 
gutted by a dagger in her head jaw up.  She 
rushes to help Fremea and stabs her (F1) doing 11 
points to her right lower back just above her 
hip.  But the other dagger fails to hit.

            As Arawn's arrow plunged into the 
leader he saw Unali close in and execute a deadly 
blow. A moment later he saw the pair disappear 
behind a bush. He knew that Unali was a very, 
very capable woman but he didn't want to leave her to face danger alone.

            "Check on Unali!," he called out in 
the direction of Opus, Kimis, Tsia, and Barbosa. 
He knew they wouldn't be able to see him even if 
could point but hoped they'd figure to investigate the last spot she rushed to.

            Arawn puts his bow away and draws his 
sword/buckler.  He looks around for a target and 
finds one only feet away #11 (b) fighting 
Pyan.  He lowers him a bit so his boot is level 
to the witch and draws back and kicks the witches head.

            Arawn hits the females right side of 
the skull and Pyan who is staring at her hears a 
crunch and snap.  She takes a massive 11 points 
to the head from the martial artist kick. Her jaw 
and temple crack.  Her skull jerks left then back 
and she drops her dagger.  She falls to the 
ground dead before she hits the ground. Arawn 
looks jaw-slack in shock.  That was a bit intense 
and brutal.  But realize it was a lucky hit.

            Z'leyra sees #11 fall to her left and 
guess Pyan got a good hit.  She thrusts at #13 (#c) but misses.

            Tsia hears Arawn's voice.  Unali she 
was that way? Tsia doesn't see her but heads that 
way and wonders where the nude female is?

            Kiet smiles at Dorhak wrestling a 
female.  He shakes his head always fooling 
around.  He comes alongside the right side of 
them and whistles.  The female looks up and 
snarls.  Kiet uses his shield to bat the female 
off of Dorhak then pieces right in her right 
middle back where her heart is, doing the final 
points to kill her.  Kiet smirks at Dorhak and 
almost offers a hand.  But Dorhak might get upset 
and pull him off his feet then losing contact with ground.

            Pyan is shocked to see the female 
just collapse and sees her skull cave in do these 
witches have some suicide technique?  He steps 
over her body and charges #13 (d) he hits hard in 
her left leg doing 15 points.  Amazingly she stands still.

            Kimis grunts at Opus to follow then 
turns east and moves to help the others.

            Raddok will continue to focus on 
killing #19, protecting the king & assisting the 
Bes guard. Once witch is dead. He will look about 
to see where he's needed most – anyone needing 
help, down or missing [Unali is out of sight down 
stairs, but not sure Raddok can see stairs from 
where he is]. He will now be able to see where 
everyone is & that some of the party is missing 
(he briefly notes with puzzlement & a chill up 
his back, a strange powdery pile), & that Dorhak 
is fighting with a witch, although assistance 
seems to be coming toward him. Raddok will call 
“Healer here,” & dig for his first-aid pack, and 
stay near the king & the wounded Bes, unless 
Dorhak or someone calls to him to go/help elsewhere.

            Raddok swings on #19 with mace but misses.

            The King hits #19 in left middle ribs 
doing 6 points with his spear.

            Opus runs after Kimis toward the east to help the others.

            The Bes guard hits #19 In center 
chest doing the final damage to kill her.

            The last female topside hits Z'leyra 
in the center chest but her armor protects her.

            Dorhak stands and grabs his gear then 
moves toward #13.  He hits her on her left 
shoulder doing the final damage ot kill her.

            Down below Female 1 (F1) turns to 
Unali and swipes her dagger she slices right 
across her chest but Unail's armor protects her.

            Female (F3) charges Fremea and misses her attack.

            Fremea tries a leg sweep but fails to 
make contact with the witch (F3). But at same 
time she grabs for the dagger since she has yet 
to get a dagger of her own.  Her strength is not 
great but as she tries to pry the dagger free she 
is able to deflect the dagger to do a slight stab 
into her right center chest doing 3 points of damage.

         [Time:  2:30:27 pm]
         [Phase 10]

            Fremea leaps to the air using her 
wings to tackle the female (F3) and does this 
skilfully knocking her fully back into the 
wall.  The female drops her dagger and Fremea 
grabs it and stabs high but it goes low hitting 
the female in her left upper leg doing 11 
points.  Finally she has a dagger fully in control.

            Unali tries to subdue Female nearby 
(F1) hitting her in the right shoulder doing 9 
points – sadly the magical dagger's damage boost 
is enough to do the final damage to kill 
her.  Even a light subdual attack is just too big 
with a magical dagger.  Unali didn't realize how 
badly she was already hurt by Fremea.

            The female last alive slumps down the 
wall (F3) and starts to stand but a click is 
heard.  She begins to reach the wall when a blue 
Psychic Hammer ball hits the female.  She is knocked out.

            Fremea smiles and glances at 
Unali.  Then seeing her bag and her own personal 
gear she rushes to redons her gear.

            Tsia rushes into the room and looks around confused.

            From outside Arawn looks down and is 
saddened to see a dead Bes Guard, Pyan hurt and 
what remains of Mournath.  Signs of a 
Disintegrate spell is obvious. Ash has blown away 
but there is still faint traces of ash. His boots 
are still intact but coated in ash.  Torn threads 
of what used to be clothing is on the ground blowing about.

            Near where the nude female stood a 
form lands.  The Vily holds her bow in 
hand.  Anger spills from her face and don't need 
to be a empath to see that.  She glances at the 
battlefield.  Then below as Unali nears the shaft 
it reappears.  She stares at this tall structure 
and if looks could kill all would be dead.

            “What have you bought to my forest?!”  The Vily says.

            She glances around for Arawn but 
doesn't see him.  She stares at Kiet.  “Was this 
your doing?”  She storms closer toward Kiet 
reaching only a few feet from him.  “This blight 
will be destroyed.  I will order the forest to 
take this place...back to the forest.          If 
you don't want to be a part of this you have ten minutes to move out!”

         GM: Actions? Comments?

         GM: So 10 phases.  30 Seconds of 
combat.  One of our longest ones in years.  Next 
update I'll update mana report for 
experience.  I'm busy Tuesday so if I did update 
next week it'd be Monday or Wed.  So we'll 
see.  Now to inform Bert of his death.  Guess he 
is too busy to read. The Fremea stuff was done over weeks in email.
