         [Recap]

            From Dorhak: [Re: Actions]

security arrangements before we

            GM: Ack.

            From Opus: [Re: Actions]
                 Opus says,
“I was raised to fear Magic but
a lot of what I was raised to know

that unspeakable thing we’re Done to

maybe some one in the crew can help him with his past Demons ?]
GM: Ack. First great post. One of
the best introspection posts I’ve seen and I've
done many. Nicely done. As to Shaman you could
its what 200 points? I forget. So probably take
a few months. Its possible yes.

            From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
                 Kiet thinks it’s appropriate
that these funny looking dwarves

            GM: Ack.

            From Raddok: [Re: Actions]
[notes for GM: I keep forgetting
Raddok was given a metal helmet from the treasure
hoard he got the bracelet from. I now figure his
armor weight with only the leather armor (quilted
left behind), but allowed for the heavier helmet.
I’m not sure if I had specified he had adopted
wearing the metal helmet or not (I meant to, but
doesn’t matter weight-wise; please let me know
which you have listed.) I also assumed the full
backpack weight as originally given with all the
food items he started out with. I figure he’ll
be carrying his share of any food/water supplies
gathered by the others, so used that weight. I
figured his clothes, armor, mace & shield,
fighting & throwing daggers (which he really
doesn’t use in fights), & his backpack & all
gear from the original list adds up to 70.85#,
give or take 2#. Stat-wise, I figure he can
carry, with his StB added, (104+35#) 139#. This
is where my thinking is for this update as written.]

                 Raddok sees Kiet’s head-shake
when Z’leyra offers again to do

GM: Ack. No need to worry about
weights or such no need to over think it its not
that a big issue now. You'll see. :)

            From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
"Well, it looks like we might
have a problem," Arawn said rather

            GM: Ack.

         [New Stuff]

         [Ma 9th, 1636TH]
         [Time: 12:36 pm]

"Yes, I would like to see the
security arrangements before we leave" Dorhak
says to Crix. Thinking to himself, it might give
the others a chance to dig thru the
supplies. And maybe give Fremea a chance to look
around. Just in case. He looks over to her and
says in Marentian "please be back in time."

            Assuming vault arrangements are
adequate, the Dwarf says "we'll leave the Book here."

Dorhak decides to get back pack,
food, water, a few bags, and will carry a short
handled shovel tied to the pack. Raddok or Barbosa can carry the pick.

Crix nods, “very good.” Crix excuses
himself and heads to the door and whispers to a
guard some orders to direct the party to the
supplies. As he does the party stand and prepare to leave.

Opus tells the party to be
translated, “I was raised to fear Magic but a lot
of what I was raised to know may have not been so
bad. I was raised to embrace things, ideas and
people in my Tribe and I realized that they may
not be so good. So I willing to try this
necklace. to learn new things. I am not so smart
but can learn and willing to try to become
smarter more spiritual. Just like my aunt was.
Curious to what the all the world has to offer me.”

Opus winks at Kimis for all the
Praises of his manhood, “‘I try to please
my Girl in love and and in combat. “

He turns to Kimis and says in there
Native tongue. “Lets Do this you only live once
and I ain’t going back to my past magic is magic
and what we learned from out kin may have been
wrong hun and these seem like good people. But if
we feel like there bad to us at any point we can depart and run again.”

            Kimis shrugs, “sure...but if that
one.” Glancing at Fremea. “Tries to do stuff to
me one whack of my axe will end that. And..” she
glances at the one eyed girl still speaking in
their native tongue no one can understand. “That one gives me the shivers.”

Opus in a very charismatic and
prideful way says to Arawn, “I also can move
quietly and track animals movements. I can smell
them.. I can ride a horse well, I grew up hauling
goods for dad. Sadly we left fast with no horses.
I left my horse back home. I am sure me Chief has
had my horse killed. But I never tracked no
demon. Nor do I want too. Back home the only
demon was me chief he was mean to me. He was bad,
did bad things to me . bad things.”

Opus starts to growl. Kimis stops
what she is doing and snaps her long red
fingers more like the sound of a sizzle. “‘SNAP!”

All of sudden Opus goes into a
trance. He then focusing all of his anger
feigns an attack and swings like he’s holding a two handed weapon.

First he swings a low sweeping arc,
back to diagonal left to right swing
then recovers for a diagonal right to left swing.
Then a strait forward lunge. Followed by moving
back to a defensive stance. “SNAP!”.

Opus then stops and stands still. For 4 seconds.

“SNAP” Opus speaks goes back to
talking he is not breathing heavy at all
and seems less angry.

“I must never ever never did I say never go back or me chief or I
are dead! I left to be nice to save tribe from a
lost king. “We escaped with our lives intact. I
was going to kill me Chief but Kimis stopped me
she made sure the tribe is one with the chief
alive. Kimis saved me from ruining the tribe and
from a long tortures retribution death from the
people. She controls me and I listen to her. I owe her everything..“

The crew may have seen or noticed his
movements where very fast. He moves
in a very swift and graceful manner and with a
fierce and disciplined strength of a giant feline creature.

Opus then speaks to crew gaining some
confidence “We got nothing to loose
and more to gain from this and if we find the
king and his crew we will be heroes? Right or
will we victims of more bad people?”

“We must not mistake what had
happened to me in my past bad things

”

All of sudden Kimis snaps her fingers
Twice. “SNAP, SNAP” and Opus stops talking. And
just laughs loudly with a fiery laugh representative of his people!
“Ha Ha Ha..”

Opus will grab all his belongings.
He needs most for this travel unless
Kimis thinks otherwise? In case they need to
depart in a hurry from this land he has his stuff.

Pyan listens to the translation as
Crix explains his words and a bit surprised at
them. This new guy sounds like a hunter and that makes Pyan feel a bit better.

Arawn stares and can see the
emotional turmoil of the Dimagi as he talks He
doesn't even need to use his empathic ability as
a simple person can tell the change in mental states.

            ?Kiet thinks it’s appropriate that
these funny looking dwarves should provide some
provisional help. He didn’t load himself down
with any of his pack items from the ship. It
wouldn’t have matched his role as
bodyguard. Basically, all he has are his basic
weapons, not even his javelins, and what he
normally keeps in his pouches. He's especially
annoyed at not having his silver ladle.

"You are too kind!" speaking to
Crix. "Your provisions would be most welcome. I
will need very little. Travel rations, a
backpack, some bags, a water skin and (a bit odd,
I know) a trowel and small pail. And a thin but
strong 10' line, please. A flint and steel, plus
oil and lantern. Oh, and might I impose for a
bedroll? No telling how long this may take."

Kiet will tie the length of rope in a loop on his right hip.

Crix nods, “all that is in order and
ready for you. The pail? We'll have to find one.”

After the spell casting debacle, Kiet
says quietly (in The Elder), "Windwall! Are you OK?"

The armor speaks back in the language
Kiet knows, “yes. But I sensed a massive ...what
did the humans call it...fuba? No. Fubar.”

Pyan keeps staring at the red skinned girl unable to stop himself.

He goes with Dorhak decision as he is
the leader, especially about the newcomers as he
seems to speak the same language as the
two. Sometimes it's good just to be a humble
warrior and not have such burdens of leadership set upon one.

            Raddok sees Kiet's head-shake when
Z'leyra offers again to do Soul Sight for Raddok.
When Kiet sits on the floor, Raddok thinks the
magician is aware of something wrong. But since
he's sitting, it's not dangerous. Puzzled, Raddok
tells Z'leyra “Thank you. I really want to know.
But I had better go get those supplies we need. I
thought I had my rope with me, but I left it
behind us in Vahear & we may need more than my
climbing rope & Opus's. So, I had better see what
Crix has in his storeroom first. Maybe we can
find a quiet time tomorrow, before we break our
night camp, since we seem to want to get started
today. I think we're in a bit of a rush right now. Thank you! Tomorrow, then.”

Raddok gathers Barbosa & asks Crix
where the supplies he offered for the crew are
located, mentioning rope, mining tools, lamps &
oil. He will go with Crix & gather as much as the
group can comfortably carry. He thinks that maybe
they should have an extra pick & shovel along –
not just one of each. He already has a backpack,
but Dorhak also wants another one for someone else to wear, maybe Barbosa?

He does some quick figuring, & is
glad he left the quilted armor and greatsword
behind. He figures he's carrying almost 70# of
armor, weapons & gear with his backpack now. He
could manage another 30#, but that would be
getting close to his maximum & the weight could
hinder his ability to fight - or to run, he
smiled wryly - unless he had time to drop the
backpack, which seemed (considering recent events
over the last few weeks, he chuckled) unlikely.
He didn't mind carrying his weight, certainly
(again he chuckled, winking at Barbosa when he
saw him looking at him puzzled), but there was a
point that became impractical. He decided that if
he wanted an extra pick and shovel & maybe even
an extra climbing hammer, not just the one of
each Dorhak asked for, Raddok would have to carry
them himself. He had always worried about
dropping tools during a climb, & had the habit of
tying small cords to each tool that could be tied
to his belt, but things still can break at the
most awkward times. He began to think that extras
were needed as a backup. They would tie onto his
pack easily. Whoever carried the other backpack
could also carry a set of the tools Dorhak
wanted. Unless Dorhak specified otherwise. Raddok
would prefer his own choice of the shovels &
picks available for his own use. Every miner had
his favorites, with the best weight and balance
for the user. Raddok leans over to Barbosa as
they look over Crix's supplies & says, smiling,
"Even the best miners can drop a tool now & then. Good to have extras.

Raddok will gather 100' rope, more if
requested, plus extra lamps & lamp oil, & any
other gear Dorhak requested, or that Raddok sees
in the storeroom that he feels useful, including
the two shovels & 2 picks. He will collect his
own gear, weapons & loaded backpack together &
place them where Dorhak wants everything gathered
together. Raddok plans to use his mining skills,
so he'll have a pick & shovel tied to the outside
of his backpack where he can easily get to them.
If he's told he must carry the extra tools he
insisted on bringing, those may or may not be as
easily accessible, but would also be tied to the
outside of the pack, but he hopes that someone
else with any mining skill will want to carry the
extra set of tools, including a climbing hammer,
if Raddok finds one in the storeroom. When he has
a moment, he will check out, clean & do any
repair on his gear & weapons as needed.

"Well, it looks like we might have a
problem," Arawn said rather matter of factly.
"Z'leyra's spell interacted rather poorly with
the kril's defenses. It backfired and it seems to
have drained all castable magical energy from
everyone present. Magical items and innate
abilities seem intact but for the time being we'll be limited on magic-use.

I had hoped to divine information
regarding the king as well as Raddok's concern
but I fear any delay. I get the uneasy sense that time is of the essence."

Arawn gave Opus an encouraging look
when the red-skinned mortal discussed his aunt
and hope of growing in a spiritual manner.

"You're likely smarter than you give
yourself credit for," the druid said
encouragingly. "And whenever you're ready to
tread the spiritual path I'm sure that several
among will be happy to help you, myself
included. And your skills will prove very handy
indeed. And I'm sorry to hear about your horse.
But hopefully it lives. When this mission is done
perhaps I can help you check in on it."

            Familiar with magical entrancement
Arawn watched with a discerning eye as Opus
reacted to Kimis's finger-snaps. He sensed that
it was a means to keep some sort of rage or
trauma in check but knew now was not the time to
address it. For now he could only hope that Kimis
would be able to keep him under control in case
some danger on the mission triggered his issues.
But when all was done he hoped to delve further
into the situation and hopefully help the man
heal his mental and spiritual wounds.

Z'leyra mentally sighs and once again
thinks to herself that she should
someday make herself an enchantment to allow herself to see mana like the
Fae do. Perhaps she would have fewer abysmal failures if she did.

Once she has her bags packed and in
order, Unali goes around and checks if others
also pack for a month. "I sure don't know how
long it will take to find the King, but if he has
been gone for a month almost, we could well be
prepared to be gone for that long as well. Do we
all have enough to survive on?"

         [Time: 12:48 pm]

Crix claps his hands, “Ok. Let’s get
this started. Dorhak and your friends can go
with me the rest out that door and the guards
will show you to the already stockpiled supplies.”

Dorhak waves to Pyan and Arawn to join him.

Barbosa turns around, “what if we had
aid no? Gathering those supplies would've been wasted?”

Crix shrugs, “I suspected based on
what I knew of Dorhak he would. Dwarfs have honor
like yourself. If not though...we'd have tried a new group ourselves.”

            Barbosa looks down and then
exits. Honor he doesn't feel it but feels an
outcast in his tribe. Maybe after this trip
he'll be seen as a true dwarf not a thing of abuse.

Once main throne room door is closed
Crix turns to the other door and heads that way
to the King's private area. He uses a key from
his neck and opens the door. He leads the trio
down 30 feet and then turns right down a dark
hall lit only by a few candles. The group passes
a closed door then another and they figure it may
be the King's private quarters and office or such?

The group then climbs a series of 8
small steps and it levels to a hall about 20 feet
long. At the end a large metal door. Arawn can
sense in this small hallway are already
magics. Probably some detection and defense
magic. Dorhak can notice small niches in the
wall where stuff can poke or shoot out. Maybe
arrows or spears? Pyan notices the ground tiles
are quite unique compared to the other area of
the krill. They are about 10x5 set of square
tiles. His light feet unlike the other two can
sense the tiles must be pressure plates as well.

“What you will see is not seen by
many. King the Archivist and myself. Only the
King and Archivist can actually enter the vault.”

Crix pulls out a talisman of some
sort from his tunic and places it on a circle
area on the door. A click is heard and he puts the talisman back in his tunic.

“The Elves helped with this place long ago.”

Crix lights a lantern once passing
through the door. He leads the group up a
incline rising about 10 feet at 40 or so
degrees. IT levels to a half circle about 30
feet around. As the party look they see a large
cavern carved up and smooth walls showing intense
craftsmanship. The cave itself is about 100 feet
wide and from the current level about 50 feet
high. But as the group peers over the edge there is no sign of any bottom.

Dorhak frowns there is no vault! Its empty air.

“We carved this place over 8
years. Added protection spells on the walls so
no one can just come in using magic. The bottom
is actually as far as we know endless. Based on
our faerry friends it is like a funnel slowly
getting smaller and smaller. But the Fae who
flew down got hot so there could be lava down
there. There was a floor at one point. But we
caved it all in to make no floor.”

“You may be asking where is the
vault. Right there.” He points to empty
air. “It is a free floating – not attached to
ceiling – square metal box about 20 by 30 feet
inside. There are actually 3 boxes. Two are
decoys inside some lucky person got lucky and got
here – but very unlikely. We are safe on this
ramp now but once you go to the vault the magics
kick in. You have limited time to open the
vault. Else the defense magics will kick
in. For obvious reasons can't discuss all the
secrets and frankly I don't know them all. The
two who can enter the vault know how to get
inside the correct one. Yes. They are invisible.”

            Dorhak sighs maybe Fremea should've
been here. She could've flew to look around.

Arawn can sense magic on the wall and
ceiling. There are many black holes. Large
gaps in the air that seem to move. Could the
vaults be floating freely? He doesn't sense 3
large gaps though but a half dozen. Almost like
its deluding his senses on purpose. Maybe some mana shield or blocks?

Crix pulls a few pebbles form a bag
on his hip and tosses them into the large open
air. Several ping on something then fall to oblivion.

“That one eyed thief would have a
hard time in here. Fremea if got lucky could do
things but would be limited on time. So satisfied?”

Dorhak considers this all – invisible
floating vaults? What about cave ins? Maybe they
considered that as well. It could be a hoax but
if he asked to go inside a vault that could cause
a rift as they would be pressed to reveal a
secret to some dwarf not even a Besamer.

         GM: Actions? Comments

             Next update...Wednesday?

GM: Sorry for delays – its hard to get
staff to actually work on time. Tuesday may be
busy for a month or so while mom gets rehab. So
best days for updates are Wed or Sat. So we'll
see how it goes. Next update the party will move
into the tunnel to star the rescue. I'll assume
all gear except book is taken. Let me know
otherwise. Not a big deal on what you carry its
not a big factor. If you need to do anything
last minute in Krill let me know. I'll do the
necklace stuff for Opus/Kimis next update.
