      [New Stuff]

          [Augado 11th - Sepes 24th, 1634TH]
          [Location: Marentia (Maren)]

          [Augado 11]

Upon coming back to Marentia, Raban is happy to get out
of the thick of things. The Giant would never admit it
but he was scared for the first time in his life. Overlord
Shimara almost killed him. While on one hand it was nice
to actually have a challenge it was a bad turn of events to
almost die from it. Now with a slight limp not only from
his kidney damage but from exhaustion Raban heads into
          town to visit Cholan's tavern.

The Bard had such a simple life before joining this rag
tag party. Entertaining and carousing with women every night.
Sure had to avoid the occasional boyfriend or husband but
it was a good life. Now he has to focus on guarding the small
sidh, the dagger warrior and the shaman-healer. Of course
the last 2 seem to do quite well. But Raban could sneeze bad
and kill the small one. So she may need to be guarded the most.

At the party the Bard begins to form stories and songs in
his head for their adventure. No one would ever believe in
these Vong. So he'll have to make them strangers from a far
off land rather than world. To the common man forming stories
and songs seems easy but in fact it is a part of history. Bards
share the common stories and myths even after cultures ban
such history or restrict it. Even in cultures where the rules
revise their own history the Bards share a thin line of truth that
spreads to the people. Raban respects scholars Kaylle but they
are only there to write facts and figures. Bards are here to
write the emotion and things that are between the lines of history.

When Luvac gives the gifts he takes them in good faith. He
especially welcomes the magical saddle so he doesn't hurt those
          poor horses.

Z'leyra healed him nicely but he explains he will heal himself.
After all he will need some experience with his own magic. But
          he thanks the healer.

          [Augado 12]

After seeing to the departure of the others, the giant
decides to spend most of the morning in the markets. He
needs to repair some things like his clothing and leathers.
Some slight shopping and other errands to do.

For the next three days Raban asks a tailor if he can learn
from tips from him. So from Augado 12 to Augado 15 he spends
time with the tailor to improve his own skill. He is on the
verge of a professional himself now.

          [Augado 15]

For the next 24 days Raban will go from tavern to private home
to arena to entertain many people. With his skills and his large
size he is actually in demand as a curiosity. Raban only has to
ask first Cholan to let him play a day or two and word spread of
his return and offers come in.

He will act, use acrobatics, dance, sing and play instruments. He
will play the drum, mandolin and his pipe. By the second week he
is given offers to entertain at private places and homes. This of
course leads to some nice interactions with the rich and hopefully
single women. While he isn't in it for the money he does attract
women of all ages and classes due to his appearance which most women
          think he is quite attractive.

During these weeks Raban utilizes one of his greatest skills
as a lover. The gods actually gave him a innate talent during
sex to heal others. He just assumes it is own skill and talent
but in fact it is deeper in him. He discovered this some years
ago when he spent the night with one daughter of a baron who was
coming down with a nasty internal disease that gave her rashes
and blisters. Two days later she was healed and the local healers
had no clue why. Raban can only determine his half breed nature
might have been part of it. But it is not something one shares
in common conversation. He only just revealed his half breed
status days ago. At least that explains why he can fly but not
          his other abilities.

          [Augado 15 - 18]

While at the library learning to read Fremea notices Raban
has visited Kaylle. Both giant and small fae whisper for
some time. Fremea can hear him asking if Kaylle has any
books on secret cults in Aratad. Fremea does not know why
the giant is interested in it. Kaylle spends a few days to
track and track down this info for the bard The Bard then
spends a day or two reading whatever material Kaylle finds
          in the local library.

          [Augado 15]

Raban was impressed by Fremea's action with her bow. Some
believe she did the most damage for the entire battle. Raban
could handle a force with just his hands. But he knows he
should practice other spells. So over the next few weeks he
casts each of his Archery spell 20 times each.

          [Augado 12 - 19]

Raban spends the next week casting healing magic once a day
on himself. He could get it all healed in a day or two but
he rather practice his own spell. It takes him a week to
become fully healed from his wounds in Katai.

To add on to his practice over the next few weeks he casts
the spell 13 more times on folks who need it.

          [Augado 19]

Raban has neglected his priestly duties. While he is not
a true priest he knows some of their magic due to his past.
When a woman asks him to bless her for a good birth he
agrees and casts the simple bless spell. HE is just glad
it is not his. Over the next few weeks he casts the bless
spell almost 20 more times. He casts them mostly on women
but in one case he gives a blessing to a horse rider who
has a horse race from the west side of town to east. The
man is pledging his earnings for a month so he needs the help.

          [Sepes 1]

Today Raban finds himself at the Pink Frog tavern. It is
a decent place but the name seems to imply so many odd things.
Most of the customers are dock workers from the wharf which is
only a couple blocks away. But the tavern owner hired him for
a few hours. During his 4th song which was a ballad to a
Bhamotin princess a brawl breaks out. Suddenly the two men
who argue over who wrestles better becomes a fight of 4 then
6 and 12. In moments two thirds of the bar gets involved. It
is endweek so it is more a release of a week's work than anything.
The barkeep tries to break up some of the fight and the bouncer
who is a retired gambler gets little done to stop it. Then
Raban stops and goes to help. He enters the mob of 22 men and
dodge thrown bottles and mugs. He knocks heads into each other
knocking out two then four of the men. He throws one, two and
then a third man against the mantle of the fire place. In just
a few moments half are scattered by his large hands. At one point
a knife is drawn but against another warehouse worker not Raban.
Raban grabs it and breaks the dull knife in half. In just 25
more seconds all but 3 are on the ground, stunned or knocked out.
The last of the brawlers realize Raban means business and settle
down. By then city guards stream in to see who started what and
to get payment of damages. The barkeep pays him an extra bonus
for the night and offers him a bouncer job but he declines.

          [Sepes 2]

Raban is walking on the main road down one sparse section
of town. He notices two men arguing. One is a pawn clerk it
seems and the other a citizen. The citizen is arguing that
the gems he is selling is worth far more. It looks like the
merchant is about to go to blows so Raban steps in. He examines
the four gems and uses his magical ring. One is indeed fake
but the other 3 are of good value. He then tells the citizen
where he can sell his gems for a better price at a nearby
store rather than here. The merchant gets upset at this but
the merchant keeps quiet when Raban glares back.

          [Sepes 7]

It is near dusk when Raban is leaving a tavern after a gig.
He notices a young man being harassed by a street gang of 8.
The poor lad is trying to get away but they refuse. Three
gang girls are on the side watching and laughing. Raban
          approaches and clears his throat.

"Big oaf clear off! Go dig a ditch or something!" Then
the leader turns away to inspect the lad's bag.

Raban decides to act the part of a idiot. He walks closer
and bumps against the leader. "I said move on."

Raban asks the thug, "have you seen my dog?" He asks and
          looks around.

The leader laughs at the idiot. Decides the guy might be
worth some fun. He directs his gang to surround the giant.
They are clearly brave in numbers are confident.

"Why not give me those shiny arm bands." The leader points
          to Raban's jeweled gauntlets.

Raban shrugs and raises both arms and lunges forward. he
places his arms to the side of the leader's head and slams
the gauntlets against his skull. The man spins backwards
          groaning.

The other gang members pounce. Twelve seconds later 2
of the gang members are dead and the others are on the ground
knocked out. Raban did not mean to kill the idiots but sometimes
his own strength gets the better of him. The girls stop laughing
and run away. Raban takes no damage since his own armor protects
          against any damage.

Raban helps the lad get to his home safely.

          [Sepes 9]

Raban is visiting a market for some oysters and some rose
petals for a date tonight. He notices a crowd of a dozen or
so are outside a mineral shop. Seems they are protesting
claims to a nearby ore mine due to property disputes. It
is not often one finds protesters in Marentia. So it is
a bit fascinating to watch. He suspects the mineral shop
owner may have faked a rich mine which is actually dead.

          [Sepes 11]

Raban is disgusted tonight as he is returning from a home
where a woman said her husband was dead. Yet a man shows
up and claims he was not dead. At times he hates being so
handsome as he attracts women who lie to do anything. Maybe
next reward from the High Elder he'll get a magical ring to
detect if a person is married or in a relationship.

Having to flee from the home half naked was not fun when
the family dog chases you trying to put a boot on.

It is a bit after 1am when he notices walking by a warehouse
a man is trying to break in. Raban tells the man to stop but
the criminal returns with a few choice words. Raban decides
to relive his stress and frustration. After he punches the
guy out in one blow he flies the man to the roof of the
warehouse. The nice thing is this roof has no way down.
Especially after Raban removes a nearby water pipe. So
the man will have to remain on the roof till the owners find
          him and his locksmith tools.

          [Sepes 12]

Raban is helping a military officer friend clean his stable
tonight. He meet the friend a few weeks ago during a party.
He actually served with Farseeker in the fight against the
L'p'nth raiders in the north east county under Duke Valnon's
domain. He helps lift a large box from the loft when all
of a sudden 15 rats fall out and onto him. The giant
goes a bit berserk and throws the crate breaking it and
slapping the rats off. Raban finally gets free of the
vermin and realizes he hates rats. It is odd that
a giant can tackle a hill giant but a small creature like
a rat can irk him so much.

          [Sepes 14]

Raban is walking in a military area near some barracks when
he notices a large wagon with a man on the road. The man
is kicking the wagon due to a broken wheel. The merchant is
carrying a load of swords for the barracks. Raban offers
to help and lifts the wagon while the merchant repairs the
wheel. To repay him the merchant offers him a nice new
sword but Raban declines as he rarely uses weapons.

That night Raban finishes eating and walks back to Cholan's
tavern for the night. A guard stops him to ask where he has
been lately. Seems he fits a person who may have killed two
gang members. Raban figures the truth is best and admits he
did it. The guard simply states that it was a good thing and
no justice will be dealt. But the guard warns him that the
gang has placed a bounty on him. But Raban is not seriously
          worried.

          [Sepes 12 - 15]

These three days Raban spends days in herbalist shops to
collect various herbs to stock back up on his materials that
he may need for his erotic arts. His actual skill is not the
common herbalist that most have but solely dedicated to the
erotic nature of his skills. He has also found some herbs that
actually help the women obtain better pleasure. He shares this
to some herb shop owners who have no clue of what they are selling.

          [Sepes 16 - 18]

Raban admires Ben'dar for his talent in horses. Because of
years of torturing horses as he rode he actually learned horse
healing skills. His healing art is not for humans but for
horses only. These 3 days he helps Cholan's own personal horse
          get over some issues.

          [Augado 18]

Today Raban finds himself at a funeral in the north side
of town in a decent cemetery. Before he left for Katai he
befriended a Singer who specialized in ancient songs. But
he died a few days ago from an accident in the street. He
gives his respects and watches the priest give the usual
speech. He is glad he wasn't the one who died in Katai and
wonders if he would have folks at his funeral. But now he
has friends and hope they would come. He asks the singer's
parents if he could give a generic blessing. It will do little
but give solace to at least his family.

          [Sepes 19 - 21]

Raban has enjoyed talking hours with Kell in Katai during
off times and travel times. The trader knows his stuff and
he learns some tricks from the talks. Raban learned a skill
in Gems years ago. After all when one finds jewelry or gems
for a woman he enjoys need to know if he is being ripped off.
With the High Elder's gift of the Gem detection ring it will
improve his skill. He wonders how the High Elder even knew
he had such a skill? He spends these three days using his
ring to determine the best gems. At the end of the three days
he even buys a few nice gems for future engagements and late
          night visits.

          [Sepes 22 - 24]

While traveling in Katai the two that did most of the cooking
was Raban and Z'leyra. Raban learned to cook out of pure need
when waking up from a night of fun. Needing to replenish his
energy and stamina. These three days Raban decides to see if
he can learn more cooking tricks from cooks in some of the
taverns he works at in exchange for his entertainment. He
is almost a professional cook as well now.

          [Sepes 23]

Tonight Raban is giving a mandolin performance at a
noble's estate outside of town. Outside a large wind storm
causes a tree to fall on the side of the parlor. It causes
the window to crash in and a fire start from a oil lamp. Raban
helps evacuate the people but then someone announces that the
man's aunt is still in the house. He flies up to the second
floor and breaks a window to enter to find the aunt. By now
smoke has gotten out of hand. But with Raban's large lungs he
can last a bit longer. Soon Raban finds the aunt in a room and
gets her out of the house as the wind buffets the flames to
the second floor. He flies her back to the garden below. He
explains he just leapt not wanting to show his true ability.

          Actions? Comments?

          Next Update....Friday...

GM: A quick update with Raban's IBT. Since he was turned to
full NPC after John died it almost seems weird doing his
IBT. You notice some dates are mix-matched. I did not
want to list day by day so did it in chunks based on
what was going on. I first covered skills what days
they were done. Then magic and then filled in the rest
with the random encounters. This is why it looks like
that and as for all others in most cases.

GM: A note on random encounters. One can have hundreds with
45 days x 2 for Day and Night. I use my own program
I wrote years ago to do the basic info first detailing
the chances based on the terrain and the number of days
(45). Once that is done the basic "human" encounter
was done using my file version of the P&P GM screens that
include the charts on Human Encounters in generic terms.
I also used the book 4 random encounter charts which I
have in a file. To determine a generic situation. So
the GM chart might say 2D6 people and the 2d6 chart
might say pilgrims. If that does not help I'll use the
book 4 charts. Based on a city there are 12 areas like
a Main Road or Cemetery (D12) and then under each location
a % chance for that area based on day/night. Based
on those results I may need to do a quick roll on Burton's
motivation charts to determine the motivation of the person.
I can quickly flash out encounters this way. So this stuff
is rarely planned out but done in seconds. So just figured
something to understand if you read some wacky encounters.
Like above I rolled animal and then rats and a private room
so figured a storage place like a barn so the above situation
              was done in seconds.

GM: A note on magic items. Many of you guys are getting weighed
down with loads of items. At times I may be too lenient in
doing things. This is based on my reasoning that playing
P&P is a rare thing. So if it can be done then have fun.
But some are just a warehouse of items. As a result it is
getting more difficult to determine out various things. For
example basic stats. If you wear item A and not B but C and
D then you have X mana Level but then it goes up +Y by wearing
item E. So for some characters I try to create notes in the
sheets based on these situations. BUT things change not all
items are worn for every event. So when we get to the actual
adventure I'll ask what items are taken where. Then I can
refigure things. The second thing is based on those items
what affects situations. It is very hard to determine every
item a player has. So if your magical toe ring helps to prevent
nose bleeds and suddenly I forget and you get a nose bleed well
I just forgot. Major items I do recall and try to counteract.
But there are going to be times when I forget a item in a
situation. If it is something targets to you say a Silent
sell then I may do a quick scan on the sheet for "silent/
silence" and see if you have items of immunity or protection.
This is how I do most things. But in the long run chances
are i may forget item #112 because it is rarely used. :) So
if you see a situation you can give a friendly warning about
that item. Hope this makes sense.
