Game Update #252 in sequence (file #1501]
Admin Notes: None.
[Augado 10th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains]
[ Mountains west of Pamau]
Outside some 800 feet or more below the party the team
led by Zhou halts. Others exit the forest and now count
around 8. Some are holding bows and a few are just holding
Zhou looks back to Strie'bog but the Bard is trying to
communicate to his summoned animals. So Zhou turns and
steps a few feet forward. "What is this about?"
The lead man in a tan vest and gray pants looks behind Zhou
to look at the party. He then looks back at Zhou. A sour
sign of dismay in his face. "Someone summoned the underground?
But you do not look like the ones in trouble."
The others behind the lead man raise their bows in case it
is time to fire on the Katai military group. But they also
see the children and the ones with no weapons at all.
Zhou can figure out what underground he means. IT isn't
so much the religious persecution that the Empire allows but
the magic is the sore spot. "I am part of a group that did
need help. but I and my friend," he waves back to Strie'bog,
"are leading these villagers to freedom."
Before the man can reply one of his comrades gasps and looks
to the sky. He points up and states, "what is that?"
Everyone looks up to the section of sky to see a Vong Flyer
zooming down and toward the group. The villagers become to
gasp in terror.
"Run to the forest!" Zhou yells and motions for the group
to move as fast as they can.
Raban sees the elemental turn to seemingly ignore part
of the remaining Vong threat. He figures Kell has lost
control with the creature and realizes he might be the only
one that could stop the creature. Raban leaps to the air and
flies up to a stalagtite hanging from the ceiling. He pry's and
rips the 200 pound chunk from the roof of the cave and
zooms back toward the elemental.
Ben'dar is unaware of the elemental's rage and attacks one
of the warriors with his spear but misses as he dodges.
The elemental turns and swats one of the warriors to the
side as he charges toward the trader. Looming over the
wizard the elemental takes both tree like arms and tries
to bash his skull in. The left arm misses as the trader
dodges. But the right hits him in the left middle ribs doing
7 points and causing the trader to go flying backwards.
The two remaining Vong see the rock beast leave them and
so uses the chance to finish the party. One rushes to attack
Z'leyra and the other turns to finish off Ben'dar. The one
on Ben'dar fails to hit missing entirely. But the warrior
hits Z'leyra in her lower left chest but her armor protects
the shaman from the blow.
Z'leyra realizes that the control is surely lost and
she might have to dispel the beast. Why she hasn't done so
already she doesn't know. But she will have to finish the
warrior first since doing a spell wide open could be fatal.
She swings her great sword hitting the warrior but his crab
armor also protects him.
Kell landing on his rear looks up at the looming beast. He
can't even get his breath much less cast a spell. But
he tries to bring up his shield as he makes it to his feet
but with weak legs. He backs away and tries to get his breath
back before he can act.
Kiet looks over to see the elemental attack Kell. He
looks back at the prisoner and figures the dead Vong
can't be helped from the prisoner's rage. But he
can't do much against the elemental unless he could
use a fire spell.
Raban carrying the 5 foot wide rock that had once hung
from the ceiling in his arms. He angles his course so that
the rock will be a hand held spear to the side of the
creature's head. With the force of a 800 pound man plus
the 200 pound rock impacting at around 25 feet per second
the rock explodes against the elemental's skull. The
explosion cause the rock to shatter and the creature's
own surface area to be riddled with shards and cracks.
The cracks form in random spider web rapid procession
down and around the creature. Then a second later the
elemental shatters from the implosion and rocks splay
in every direction. A avalanche of rock shrapnel fly
in every direction. Ben'dar takes a point of damage
as the rock hits his neck. Kell's shield saves his
life as a rock boulder the size of his head slams into
his shield and disintegrates.
When the dust settles the elemental is no more. He is
simple a ash pile of stone dust and debris. The damage
Raban did was 43 points enough to kill any normal human
4 times over.
Raban lands to a skid near Ben'dar and the Vong.
Ben'dar with his back to the destruction of the elemental
can feel the pelt of rocks on his back and legs. But he
can't turn to see what is going on. Ben'dar stabs the
warrior in front of him for 3 more points in his lower
Both Vong try to attack Z'leyra and Ben'dar. But both
attacks to make contact.
Kell finally catches his breath as she grumbles at the
death of the elemental. Well maybe not death. It
likely will just be resent home through its spirit
form to retake its natural state there. At least he
hopes so. Now he has one death of a summoned friend on
his hands and hopes the gods do not take it against him.
He dusts off his clothing and mourns the death of the
Kiet runs forward to check on Kell. He can see the man
is barely standing on his legs.
Raban knows Ben'dar can handle the wounded Vong and runs
to help Z'leyra. he grabs for the warrior but the warrior
seems to have noticed his approach and steps away.
Ben'dar stabs the wounded Vong for the final few points
of damage to kill him.
The last warrior stabs kneeling at Raban but the giant
deftly avoids the amphistaff with his agile dancing skills.
Kell collapses to the ground as his knees give out under
the shock of the past few seconds.
Kiet leans down to check Kell and find his pulse strong
so it must just be shock. But he needs serious healing if
he is going to fight after this.
Fremea sees both groups enter the cave but does not
run out to call her. She is quick and decides to check
on the group led by Raban. She flies toward the entrance
and sees the scene. A dozen or so warriors dead and
it looks like Kell is on his knees. One last warrior
seems to be still alive. She can't fire at it though or
it might hit Raban and Z'leyra.
Raban tries to punch the warrior but does not make contact.
Ben'dar charges and attacks the last warrior but fails to hit.
The warrior turns to use his amphistaff in flex-snake mode
to try to poison Raban but fails to miss as the snake head
misses him by a half foot.
Z'leyra steps forward and slashes her magical great sword
at the last Vong. At the last second the warrior ducks back
and brings up the amphistff to block but Z'leyra slices under
his arm and cleanly slices off his right leg at just above the
knee. The warrior is killed instantly from the damage.
Now that the Vong are dead the group look around the cave.
The place is very bare with just a small leather like blanket
that serves as sleeping areas. Some have bowls or coufees or
other odd items like bone necklaces or bone needle set for
creating tattoos. Nothing of great value at all is seen as
the warriors seem to be as spartan in nature as their brains.
Kiet and Kell look at the crates and barrels to find just
water and in the crates food. The food is slabs of meat
that doesn't seem to be too fresh and fruits and breads of
Tracks on the ground imply this place was also a training
area for battle or exercise.
In the north west corner another shallow pit is seen. From
the look an smell it was just a body waste pit. The shapers
didn't seem to care to give them carrion bugs to rid the pit
of the smell.
Raban looks around commenting, "we are done here." He turns
to Fremea. "Can you let the others we are ready to move on.
Unless they need help."
With that Fremea takes to the air and flies out the cave
and back up to let the other group know.
Raban gives a slight slap to Kell's back to give him some
comfort for killing his beast. But the Bard who is usually
full of words is lost for words. Instead he knows the group
may only have less than 10 minutes before the Brain regains
control outside the High Elder's spell.
Outside the villagers run for their lives. The Flyer is homing
into their location and setting course to attack. The newcomers
seeing the strange flying beast darts back into the nearby forest.
But the group has some 100 feet to cross. The flyer is some 200
feet or so away and will be on them in only 3-4 seconds. That
means the group won't make it to the edge of the forest.
Strie'bog reazlies this and stands his ground. With that many
lives in jeopardy he gathers his energy for a spell. He could
summon the birds to attack the Flyer but it would be futile and
just slaughter them.
With only 50 feet to go Strie'bog releases his spell by raising
his palms skyward. Giving a symbolic shove with his palms he
shouts to the flyer. But the Sonic Blast spell creates a sub
sonic wave of intense frequency and blasts the flyer. Most
of it is collected into the gravity generator that serves as
a black hole defense area in the front. But that one spot
that Raban found in one flyer back at the carnival grounds.
The spot between the plasma firing horns is sensitive. The
spot where the silk like structure that serves as the living
rock's senses. The blasts hits the horns and shakes them but
doesn't destroy them as well as the flyer itself. But the
sense organ is bombarded by the sonic wave. Though silent the
living creature of coral screams in agony mentally. The shock
wave speeds instantly down into the pilot's head through his
flight hood. The shock causes the warrior to instantly black
out from the surprise. This causes him to dive forward onto
the flight stick. Now the flyer itself is stunned by the
assault and blind from the attack.
With only 10 feet to the forest edge the villager women scream
in fright knowing they will not make it. At the same time the
flyer was hit by the sonic blast it released three streams of
plasma volley hitting the ground. One plasma ball hits a man
in the back vaporizing him instantly. The others hit the
ground but no harm to others.
Zhou sees a child around 8 stumble from the shrapnel of the
plasma hitting the ground. He turns back just in time to grab
the child and throws her to the side a few feet away.
Strie'bog sees the flyer plowing ahead and pass him overhead.
It suddenly pitches forward and slams into the ground. The
Bard watches as it does a fatal dive in slow motion. One instant
the flyer is directly over his head the next it is diving so
fast it is a blur. The Bard can see Zhou racing toward a child
and yank him away. But Zhou is too slow and tries to leap away
just as the flyer impacts into the ground. Zhou is slammed forward
by the front of the flyer. At the last instant the block hole
gobbles up the ground in a tidal wave of energy which forces
the flyer deeper into the ground. But as the flyer tilts the
left plasma horn slams into Zhou's back.
Zhou gives a silent gasp as he is thrust to the ground and
blackness overcomes him.
Farseeker looks to Unali but she is a bit distracted.
He knows the Brigaders like their pretty uniforms. He also
knows they would not be so easy to flee if they were traitors.
So Farseeker risks it and nods to Gan. "No time to talk."
Farseeker turns to Will, Caladan and Chion. "Go free the prisoners
in the hut there." He points. As the three dash he grabs Chion
by the arm. He whispers to him. Something unspoken is given between
them. They know the one in the coma could be free but what life
would they have? Without saying it Farseeker gives a nod to
let the person be put down with mercy.
Arawn looks to the group outside and eyes the two new strangers.
Both he has never met. The one from the cave named Gan which
Chion found. The other one a wizard he admits free from one
of the Shaper huts in the south. This is the help the man
said he would send? But he knows the distance is great and
could be hundreds of miles. These may be the local underground
in the area. Warned through some communication network not
known yet. But if two are here then two will help.
Arawn realizes then that the group went to help the humans
who were tied up by the Shapers. He counts two being walked out
by Will and Caladan. Then his heart sinks when he sees Chion
only walk out without a third. But then Chion turns and with
the door open bends down to haul the limp body of the one that
seems to be still in a coma over his shoulders. Arawn smiles
and wonders if Chion could be getting some piece of good heart
for a change.
Chion then gathers the three. "I'll be back." After Caladan
and Will leave them standing, Chion quickly casts a small teleport
spell and sends himself and the three prisoners away.
Farseeker looks to Gan a bit with a sly smile. "He does that
sometimes. He'll be ba-."
Chion returns and nods. "The three are back with the two we
freed on the east stairs. They should help them."
Arawn leans down and checks the wound on his leg. He can see
where the Voxyen bite was deep. There is a bit of a green slim
that ebbs out but is very minimal. Arawn blots the wound and
it stops. But he can't tell at this point if it is poison or not.
He is unsure if he should risk a poison cure or not.
Then Fremea arrives and reports the others are ready.
"Let's move. You two can join us if need be. We are going
to end this Vong threat once and for all." With that he
starts moving toward the entrance.
Gan turns to the other wizard. "Vong?"
The unnamed wizard looks to the dead Vong and to the outcast
and smirks. "Ahh." Gan nods. "Sounds like fun!" He raises
his hand at the Outcast.

[Time: 3:20:00pm - Raban's Team]
GM: Would've seen this hours ago. But last night I sent
the update onto the site before bed for Alex to check.
But then my interent (comcast 'net) went out I guess
heir network failed. Which hasn't happened before.
So it WAS out but on the site. But hadn't sent the
updae via email yet. So here goes. This is the final
GM: A delayed update but I wanted to see if folks were ever
going to post. Sadly wasn't the case. Since no dispel
was done I had no choice but to do Raban's action I was
hoping a bit more in the other group. But oh well.
You will see from the time marks Raban's group is 30
seconds ahead of the other group. So it will not be
current until the other group climbs down. If no actual
posts come in next update will move the entire group down
to the last cave for the final battle. At this point
not so dramatic but was hoping for more activity to fill
in those blanks. But I work with what I have. :)
For those in Unali's group this allows you guys 30 seconds
or so more stuff to do. It will take about 3 seconds to
run down the stairs or walk about 10 seconds. So can even
chat if needed while going down. If the group needs time
to plan or chat further to question the prisoners it can be
If the 2 new Wizard free prisoners are not allowed to
join the group you better say so. (Gan and the other

Mana report updated which took the bulk of the time for
this update so looks small but lots of math to update.
Congrats to the new CEL/EL increases (about 6!). Check
out the new Asteriks (*) at the bottom of the chart.
GM: Arawn - I know you did the email on the poison. But let
me know if still want to do it. You aren't sure if its
poison or just a bite, yet. Keep in mind in some way
a poison cure may be counted as a healing for the risk.
I will have to check on that.
Kell - Sorry but I figure it had to be done. Else a few
party members might be a bit squishy and hard to pick
up if it continued. I figure you were busy with the
email change and new work to reply.
