     [Recap]

       From Raban: [Re: Actions]
Raban laughs, "Such stupidity, it was only I you faced until....

<Likely he will not finish his speech. For some reason he is just
not intimidating them enough? <If hostilities start, Raban will
need to jump off his horse, maybe onto another taking someone down
         with him?
GM: Ack. More role playing you've done in weeks. :) Good stuff.

       From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
When the bandits' weapons come out, Ben'Dar swings his spear down
to point at the bandits, couching it for a charge. Tef'wo feels
his body tense, and readies for a charge into their midst.

But Ben'Dar waits to see what will happen, since he does not
         understand what is being said.
       GM: Ack.

       From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet will reach for his javelins and his shield. His primary
         targets will be the bowmen.

Kiet will also then do what he can to keep Zhou from getting
         hisself killed.
       GM: Ack.

       From Kell: [Re: Actions]
Since Ha'Kell is now close enough hear and see what is going on,
not just a long distance view, he's going to try and stop the
bloodshed. Switching to the lecherous, sleazy merchant that he
         can pretend to be.

Riding up between Raban and the Katai group, he'll gesture for
both to stand down.. Turning to Raban he says, "Toban, please...
       GM: Ack.

       From Arawn: [Re: Actions]
After the use of both Regrowth and Sonata Arawn thought over some
options. Recalling what he saw with God's Eyes he spoke up, making
sure that Z'leyra and the other human healers caught his words.

"I was wondering how closely bonded the woman is to the coral....
         ----------------------------------------------------------

Arawn remains quiet while the others speak with the bandits but
in case things turn sour he'll ready his buckler. If fighting
occurs he'll use his bow if out of melee but his primary focus
will not be battle but to pull the females to a place of safety.
       GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

         [Julis 27th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]

After the use of both Regrowth and Sonata Arawn thought over
some options. Recalling what he saw with God's Eyes he spoke up,
making sure that Z'leyra and the other human healers caught his
         words.

"I was wondering how closely bonded the woman is to the coral.
Would it be possible to affect just her body and not the coral-
growth? If so we might be able to transmute her into something
separate from the coral and then undo the magic when they are no
longer in contact with the other. Or, following the same idea,
use magic to turn her insubstantial and not the coral, which we'd
then pull out of her spirit form? A healing spell and Regrowth
might then work to restore her."

Caladan speaks up on this. "I don't know how that insubstantial
spell works. But I think it'd affect the entire body and the coral.
But its a good idea. In theory it could resist the spell and
remain solid but have we ever seen that before? I mean Z'leyra's
magical toys I can only assume have high magic resistance yet they
         seem to go with her."

"As the Sonata seemed to have some effect, perhaps a Music spell
might have some beneficial effect. That aside, if nothing else,
perhaps our bards, Raban and Strie'bog, might be open to playing
music over her while we camp? Your expertise and attention might
be able to not any changes while you play that can give us a clue
as to what vibrations might be needed to properly deal with this
         situation."

Caladan nods, "another good idea. I believe both Raban and
Strie'bog have unusual instruments. Maybe something in them
can affect her? But since it would be considered healing she
should be treated not tonight as it could endanger her after
         today's healing."

                                        -----------------

         [Julis 28th, 1634TH]
[Location: Middle Katai Plains, Shantou Province]

         [Time: 2:48pm]

The foolish bandits issue their veiled and obvious threat.
Chion sits on his horse with arms crossed. Chion has seen
this before as it is a Katai thing. The strangers here don't
understand how the culture here works. honor tends to make
men do stupid things. When personal honor or in this case
greed and a mob mentality takes over the men of Katai do things
         before thinking.

Raban laughs, "Such stupidity, it was only I you faced until now
and I am more than you can handle. Drawing those bows involves the
others and they are less likely to let you live. I would have just
had a little fun slapping you all to the ground until you
understood your place. Since you have already given me the women,
I will give you another chance. Ride away and live. Or face me
alone, armed however you want and I will just use my fists so you
have a chance to survive. But if your friends use those Bows then
you could accidentally hit someone who it was my job to protect
and that could ruin my reputation. So then it is my business and
I will have to make an example of all of you. Maybe rip an arm or
leg off, no I think picking up one of your horses and using it as
a club to beat you all to death would better boost my reputation.
Shame about the horse though, but it wont feel anything after the
         first smash..."

Arawn sits on his horse and places hands on his shield and bow
just in case things heat up. As he sits quiet he doesn't
understand this human interaction. Clearly Raban can take the
whole group if he wanted yet these people are acting too stupid.
Could it be greed or honor or just plain insanity?

Ben'dar lowers his spear and braces his hips and feet ready
         for a possible charge.

Farseeker shakes his head and laughs slightly. He speaks
but in a lower voice. "Please..don't do this..you'll be killed."
He raises a hand and ungloves it to inspect his dirty fingernails
         as if bored.

Kiet reaches behind him and grabs the javelins closer to him.
He glances south to ensure no one is coming up the road but it
is a good lull in traffic.

Strie'bog shifts his quiver and bow ready to grab and load
         for the slaughter.

Since Ha'Kell is now close enough to hear and see what is going
on, not just a long distance view, he's going to try and stop the
bloodshed. Switching to the lecherous, sleazy merchant that he
         can pretend to be.

While Raban speaks his taunt the riders shift uneasily in their
saddles. Several pull reigns to force the horses to shift from
one side to the other as if gearing for a race. Holding weapons
all watch the party shifting eyes from person to person. The
leader who threw the girl off his horse just smiles at Raban.

Riding up between Raban and the Katai group, Ha'kell gesture for
both to stand down.. But as he nears several of the riders block
the path to the female and the leader. Kell is forced to remain
in his current position or be too close to enemy sword blades.
Turning to Raban he says, "Toban, please wait before crushing
their heads." Ha'Kell will act it up for them, adding "I know
you enjoy killing people like this before breakfast, but perhaps
they will think and not die. Just give me a moment."

Turning to the leader of the slavers, he pastes on a slick grin,
like a sleaze dealer seeing something he wants, and wants badly.
"Now take a deep breath, my friends. Really. Put those bows
down. If we cannot reach an agreement, then by all means shoot
Toban and make him mad. But until then let's bargain. I see how
fine these women are, too bad you spoiled one, she would fetch
higher price had she remained untouched.... Whilst that is true,
I know you just want your money, so lets talk money. My master
is always looking for pleasure, and these may be what he needs."

Kell gives them a moment to talk and respond. He looks as
sleazy as he can, and non-threatening, wanting to make a quick
         bit of money.

Inside the wagon Unali turns to Zhou hearing of the master's
activities. She perks a eyebrow and grabs a couple arrows to
place on the seat next to her. Zhou just grins and shrugs
as if a kid caught in the cookie jar.

"Oompa Chu Neng Atu." One of the riders says to the leader.

The leader turns and replies in this strange dialect that no
one in the party knows. These bandits aren't as stupid as they
look. They used hand signals a bit beyond normal sign language
and now some private verbal language? The leader barks back
and forth with a few. No one knows what they are saying but
         the tension rises a bit.

Several of the riders grumble and wave fists at the leader
and others just shrug. Whatever they are saying they argue
for a few long moments. The leader turns to stare at Raban
and then glances to Kell and the wagon. He shifts in his
saddle as if deciding what to do. It doesn't take a genius
to know his option are limited. he could take the females
and try to escape but likely not get far with laden down
horses. He could sell the slaves and come back to get them
later but he senses this party wouldn't allow that. He
knows he could attack and there is a slim chance but a chance
to win. He does like to gamble after all. The spoils would
be great. The party clearly have coin much more than the
females could earn in half a year at the brothel.

The leader nods to Raban. "I would normally deal with your
master in these things. Not his middleman." He briefly
glances to Kell. "But you do not own these females yet."
With that he spits down to the ground next to the one below
his horse. He wipes his sweaty brow with a back left hand.
"I accept your challenge brute. But my terms are if I
win you pay twice what these women are worth and we still
         take them?"

Before Kell can speak, Raban quickly nods. He isn't sure
why he just did that? Was it reflex or hatred of these men.
Was it the vast unused spaces of his mind firing some muscle?
Kell opens his mouth in surprise and closes.

The leader mounts and stands firm waving for Raban to join
him. Raban smiles knowing that this will be like pushing
a drunk beggar over with a feather. AS he climbs down the horse
below him verbally sighs in relief from the weight. Raban
turns and raises his arms to the side to show he isn't armed.

Kell urges his horse forward but the bows turn to face him
and three swords are raised in his direction. Kell gets the
hint and stops where he is.

Zhou asks, "what deal did he just make?"

As Raban stands a good 3.5 feet taller than the man and a good
200 pounds on the poor Katai man the leader takes a good look
at Raban. To Raban's surprise he doesn't gulp like most do when
they meet him. This man clearly is confident in his skills. He
figures a barbarian with no weapons is half the man with a weapon.
No two weapons. The leader draws his sword up and then a dagger
that is medium size in the left hand. The man is a two weapon
fighter. That could be different. But the pig poker sword
could be dangerous to Raban. But Raban can't back down now.

Raban decides to give the poor guy a chance. The two en
circle for a few long moments both testing their boundaries
and skills. The leader swipes a few times with his sword but
         it is an obvious feint.

Finally the leader seems to see his chance and charges. He
swings his sword fast at Raban. The sword nicks Raban's
right shoulder and draws blood for a 1 point strike. Raban
doesn't even flinch. He glances down to see his brown leather
jerkin torn slightly. The blood is minor but he is now upset
that his nice vest is cut. He growls and smiles.

Raban steps forward and swings his right fist but it goes
way over the man's head as he ducks. Their height isn't such
a bad thing for them after all.

The leader ducks and then sidesteps. he thrusts his sword
down and below Raban's left arm and impales him in the abdomen
for a minor 5 point wound just above his belt line.

Raban twists and swings his right hand again wildly. This
time the fist hits the leader in the right shoulder forcing
him back but he remains standing. It is clear though he took
         some damage.

The leader swings his sword but the blade just misses
Raban's head by a half inch.

Raban thrusts his fist toward the man and hits in the left
middle chest. The blow is so massive it crushes and destroys
several ribs. The ribs stab inward and puncture the lung and
deflate some of it. The man falls dead coughing up blood before
he hits the ground. The total fight only lasting around 10
seconds. The poor man did try to use the dagger to shield strikes
         but failed.

At this the two females behind the riders take this chance
and run as fast as they can east. The one in between all
the riders and on the ground. The same girl thrown off the
horse gets up and runs toward the wagon.

The confusion causes the riders to stare at the dead leader.
The bowmen raise their weapons but suddenly notice several others
in the party raising their own bows including Will, Strie'bog,
Caladan, Unali from the wagon as well as those who have spears
         and javelins.

Raban growls at the Katai riders.

From his horse Farseeker redons his glove and shouts to the
riders. "Leave now. Leave the women. Leave your weapons and
         we won't give chase."

The Katai riders glance to each other and realize that this
situation has turned. The bowmen unload their weapons and
throw them down. Those with sword throw them to the ground
and belt their daggers. The party notice they keep their
daggers but no one says anything right away. With thier
primary swords and bows gone the riders force their horses
into a fast gallop to the north.

Caladan turns to the wagon. "Should we take them out?
We could always get some reward or sell their horses and
get any coins they may have." He says this with a monotone
voice out of sheer matter of fact than real desire to
         actually obtain treasure.

Zhou turns to Unali to see what she says but glances out the
window. "Collect their weapons those we can sell. But I
think they learned their lesson. Whitney can keep a watch
out for them." He glances to Unali to check if she agrees or
         disagrees.

The girl rushes to Raban and jumps into his shoulder. She
begins to cry a bit and thank him over and over. Raban just
stares at the dead leader who wasted his life to show how
brave he was to his men for some thing called honor. He
shakes his head, how stupid. As he holds the girl like
a tiny ragdoll to his chest he glances down to his jerkin
vest and sighs. Maybe Will and Z'leyra who seems to be
learning the skill of tailoring can fix it.

The party watch the riders speed off to the north and
soon join the road to gain its faster benefit.

Kell grumbles at the though of not being able to simply
bargain. But Bandits and highway thieves like to steal why
pay for something? He wonders how much cons and booty
they have on their saddles from their last raid.

"The gods must be in a good mood! They didn't decide to get
our clothes all bloody!" Farseeker sheaths his sword.

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update...Monday...

GM: Assuming no one like Ben'dar gives chase to slaughter
the bandits and Unali says to ignore them as leader of
this group then we'll move on. I'll move to the next
encounter for Monday's update. It will be a encounter
needing some input and will be the last one before the
group hits the Crossroads town (town going south to
Pamamu and going north). I will do some more stuff
with the females explaining what happened to them and
where they live. I will assume the party will give them
the leader's horse so they can travel to their home or
such if they can. They might even still just ride
with the party to the nearest village to join a future
caravan. Not sure yet. Ran out of time tonight to
finish that off. So Monday will move a few days ahead.
I may also include some more barnoness things. Stay tuned.

GM: Raban only took a 6 point blow very minor for him.

GM: Only keeping the below map from the LAST positions before
this update in case folks decide to slaughter the bandits.
If not then it will be gone next update.

GM: Keep in mind the dates above one event is days ago and
the other is present and so on.
