Z'leyra answers "It would take me nine days of effort to make you a set
of leather armor, longer if I made it artistic. The evening it was
finished I would enchant it and you would have a set of leather that
equals normal chainmail in protecting against damage from weapons.
Chainmail, even magical chainmail, does wear out. Each blow that gets
through tears a rent that weakens the armor. The stronger the armor the
more it takes to weaken it. Against skilled, strong or lucky opponents
armor may be weakened so much as to be nearly useless. When I have time
I shall have to repair my own armor."

"Again, I suggest that you get as good armor as you can get. You saw how
long your normal leather armor lasted, chainmail or its equivalent would
both protect more and last longer...magical plate armor might last a
lifetime of combats only rarely needing repair."

"So no. It would be better for me to use my time elsewhere than to make
and enchant leather armor. You can get chain or better armor from the
folks here. Currently I do not have time to make the armor that I think
you should have."
