     [Recap]

        From Whitney: [Re: Actions]
Top makes the most sense, and he'd need to stand to see much in
front to the sides, anyhow. How much luggage is topside? I'm
assuming packs and the like. If so, he'll slide his to the back
portion of the luggage tack where he can get to it, if needed as
          it'll have his axe.
GM: Ack. Will take a phase to unhook the ropes, stand and grab
the axe or bow. Two if the wagon is moving and will
            need some nimble slow movements.

        From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
Ben'Dar grins, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He jabs his
spear in the air in the direction of the monks on Kell's side.
          "Charge through!...
GM: Ack. The four are all in one clump not separated. Maybe I
should've done a map. Sorry if that was confused.

        From Kiet: [Re: Actions]
Kiet's thought about this before we left. If we have ANY
encounters and ANY of us use magic, we'll have to kill all the
enemies. ALL of them. After the survivors are questioned, of
          course.
GM: Ack. Maybe. Always a way out. :)

        From Kell: [Re: Actions]
Ha'Kell levels his spear and spurs his horse alongside Tef'wo,
doing his best to keep up. He'll charge and trample through with
Ben'Dar, dispatching sharp pointy death to the fools.

After the first skewering, Kell follow's Ben'Dar's lead and
charges again until we can help the wagon.

When going back to help the wagon, Kell will shout out to capture
          one or two.

[Happy Thanksgiving to all in the US. And Happy Day to those
not in the US. - Mark ]
        GM: Ack.

     [New Stuff]

         [Julis 8th, 1634TH]
         [Location: Jiuquo, Katai]
[Location: 14 miles west of Jinquo]
         [Weather: Partly Cloudy, Temperature: 66-83]

         [Time: 5:07:00pm]

A minute before the combat starts the monks in orange walk
solemnly toward the wagon. Their shaved heads beaming the sun's
rays behind them in all directions. A few maybe one third of
them are chanting in some quiet prayer.

As the forward group near the wagon they separate. Half go
to the left and half to the right off the wagon. This by itself
is not unusual as monks and just about everyone else has given
a wide berth of the wagon. As they walk on the dirty sandy path
dust begins to drift in their wake.

         [Time: 5:07:50pm]

The last of the monks in front of the wagon have yet to drift
to the side as the almost military march of the monks continue.
The three monks suddenly realize how close they are to the wagon
and begin to raise their heads and change direction. It seems
their quiet retrospection has distracted them.

But what the party doesn't realize is that some have already
move hands from prayer grasped hands to the side of the body.
As the monks look east down the road ignoring the wagon by
their status some use their right hands for battle preparation.
Some unstrap items inside their robes. Others shift weapons that
are tied taunt against the leg or body not to be seen.

These monks are nothing new to the party and have been seen in the
hundreds since this morning. If anything they seem oblivious to
life and outsiders. At least one instance this morning some monks
ignored a overturned wagon and a hurt old man. They simply moved
         on to their objective.

Seconds before the robes are stripped the three in front of the
wagon and two in the group of four in front of Ben'dar use their
Emperor card up their sleeve. What the party doesn't know is that
both arms shift something on their legs to release small objects
in hidden bags to drop to the ground. Then with one deft move they
pretend to scratch their back which releases a unseen bag of small
objects on their backs. The objects begin to drop and clump on the
         ground.

         [Time: 5:07:57pm]

The monks in unison eye their group leaders who are further
east. In some unseen signal they strip their robes off and drop
them to the ground. Those on the side of the road turn toward the
wagon itself. Others shift their hidden short swords on leg sheaths.
Others reach for ropes that are strung around their arms and go up
to the shoulders and back. Others grab other weapons.

Those in front of the wagon throw their robes on top of their now
dropped clump of small objects. Those in front of Ben'dar and Kell
strip their robes and purposely drop them backwards onto their
dropped items. The four in front of the two scouts then run
sideways to avoid those items and run a few feet backwards.
The three in the robes do back steps around their robes as if
         realizing the danger they face.

Kell watches the strange monks and glares at them. He grabs his
spear. Not taking his eye off the monks he says to Ben'dar,
"That's not very smart charging us on foot. You want the two
         on the-"

Kiet stares ahead at the three fools in the front of the wagon
He yells out, "Kill the ones in front! Then we'll-" Since
the wagon has never stopped but just slowed down it continues
forward by the strength of the horse team.

Ben'dar's adrenaline pumps as he becomes excited for some combat
action. He quickly grabs his spear and waves it high into the
air. As he prepares his horse he yells out to Kell, "Charge
         through! Charge through!"

         [Time: 5:08:00pm]

Monk #7 unlatches a thin block of wood with nails on it down
onto the ground in front of the coming horses.

Monk #18 and #24 reach to their shoulders to prepares lassos
and twirl them with skilled hands. Both lassos then go flying
right for the giant Raban. The first misses but from behind the
second one drops right over his large head. The monk then pulls
to tighten the lasso around Raban's neck but at this point the
monk is too weak to pull Raban down.

Monk #1 15 feet in front of Kell pulls his own prepared lasso
and twirls it. The lasso goes flying toward Kell. The lasso
falls down over his head and the Monk pulls. Kell suddenly feels
himself jerked forward. Kell tries to grip his horse with his
legs and hold on for dear life but the sudden jolt wasn't expected.
He fails to maintain his balance and falls forward off the horse and
to the side. With a loud thud he impacts onto the hard road and
is amzaed to still be holding his spear. With his other hand he
grabs at the rope around his neck.

Monk #5 in front of the horses helps his buddy and does the
same with a well placed hidden nail wood shaft and tosses it
to the ground in front of the horses.

Monk #2 pulls out a dagger and throws it quickly at Ben'dar.
The dagger whizzes past Ben'dar and misses entirely.

Distracted by the dagger Ben'dar howls and urges Tef'wo forward.
But as if in telepathic contact the horse actually moves a half
second before the command is given. Tef'wo charges forward
without Kell's horse toward the monks. Ben'dar grins at the
fools who can defend against a Zen'da warrior. But suddenly
as the war horse gallops over the clumped discarded robes of the
monks the small objects do their work. Tef'wo suddenly jerks
taunt and grunts like no horse can. As the hooves hit the hidden
small caltrops the horse takes damage. Tef'wo suddenly stops and
rears upwards in reflex not to harm Ben'dar but to get his now
bleeding hooves off the ground. Ben'dar a skilled rider Ben'dar
holds on with his other hand and doesn't fall off.

Raban squirms on his horse grasping at his neck and by reflex
         urges his horse slightly forward.

Arawn senses the danger about and knows this isn't going to
be a easy fight. He could dismount and fight hand to hand or
be an effective ranged fighter. He decides to move his horse
further west and then turns around. He grabs his bow and an
         arrow and prepares it.

The draft horses in the lead of the horse team do not realize
the situation only continuing their forward motion. The team
leaders drive the three feet forward and suddenly jerk just like
Tef'wo does. Being harnessed down they can't rear up and this
causes more problems as they begin to move violently side to side
in their harness. As the two forward hooves of the draft horses
meet the nailed spike wooden shafts and the small caltrops they
also take damage. The one on the left seems to be in more pain
than the one on the right. By instinct both halt causing the
middle horses to collide with them. This causes a chain reaction
and pileup causing the wagon to jerk to a sudden halt though it
continues forward two feet by the momentum.

Raban can't help but smile at the lasso around his neck. It
is almost like a dwarf lassoing a full dragon. With one fluid
move he leans to the right raising his left leg to dismount
his horse. Landing on the ground deftly from his agile skills
and his innate talent to fly he stands and stares at the small
monk who has him. Instead of grasping his neck he reaches out
with both large arms and grabs the rope. He then yanks and pulls
         the monk toward him.

Inside the wagon Unali leans to the side to open the window
to glance out and notices the strange people with weapons
drawn. When the wagon jerks she reaches for her daggers in
         the hidden compartment.

Farseeker dismounts and draws his great sword. He charges
Monk #10 which is closest and swings his sword but the quick
action and wild swing fails to make contact.

Ben'dar now really upset that some person has damaged his
steed quickly processes what happens. He glances briefly to the
floor and notices blood. Clearly Tef'wo is in pain and doesn't
want to place his hooves on the ground. Sensing that if he
rides the horse it could further damage the hooves he quickly
dismounts to lessen the weight and thus pain on Tef'wo. Growling
he charges on foot toward the nearest monk. With spear leveled
he impales the monk who threw his dagger at him and kills the monk
         instantly by the chest wound.

Chion sees the wagon team suddenly stop and quickly dismounts.
He draws his sword with one fluid move and charges Monk #25
which is closest. Even unskilled in the sword he impales the
monk in the lower left abdomen and kills the monk.

Kell as if his mouth continues without his body finishes what
he started, "..left and I get the two on the right?" Then his
mind and body catch up to the situation. With his right hand he
continues to hold his spear as he realizes he is now on the ground.
Quickly figuring out things he grabs with his free hand his dagger
in his belt and begins to saw at the rope. Within a few seconds
the rope breaks. With a cough he rolls over onto his knees ready
         to stand.

Z'leyra recovers from the slow wagon halt by grabbing onto the
night lantern that gives night driving some benefit. She grabs
with her right hand onto the solid shelf where the lantern is
but recovers from the sudden stop. Glancing around she looks
down at the horses and notices them in pain. From her vantage
she can see bits of red on the road. One of the draft horses
bellows "oww!" while another howls "it hurts". Few can actually
understand horses and she can. She realizes something awful
has happened to the horses and they seem to refuse to move
forward. In fact the horses seem to try to be backing up.
With her left hand she draws her dagger to her lap and eyes the
         monks to her right.

Monk #20 next to Raban draws and thrusts his short sword at
Raban but it fails to strike the giant.

Caladan dismounts off his horse to the left and quickly draws
his war staff off his horse. He quickly twists and spins and
swings at Monk #19 but fails to hit.

Inside the wagon Shu glances through the curtain windows to
see the enemy. She goes for her hidden dagger.

Monk #6 in front of the wagon smiles at the goal met to
stop the wagon. He draws his short sword and leaps over the
caltrops on the ground. Running past the horse team he comes
tot he driver's station and thrusts upwards at Z'leyra but
         fails to strike.

Monk #21 charges toward Caladan and swings his sword at the
barbarian doing light damage against the man's chest.

Monk #12 moves toward the wagon drawing his sword. He rushes
up to Kiet's position and up thrusts his sword but fails to hit.

In the span of a blink of an eye Kiet realizes the wagon is
in trouble. As he finishes his words, "...out-run the rest!"
But as he does he sees one monk running toward him and missing
to strike him. Confused Kiet glances at the horses to discover
they seem to be in pain. Through the huddled horse frames he
can see splotches of blood and wooden stakes on the ground
         next to the monk robes.

Monk #26 charges to the rear of Will's horse and thrusts
with his sword toward Will but amazingly fails to hit.

Monk #9 charges forward and mounts Z'leyra's horse which is
tied to the rear of the wagon. The monk slices the rope with
his sword and in one swift motion kicks the horse forward.
The horse goes along the right side of the wagon and ends up
near Z'leyra. The man wildly swings at Z'leyra but fails to hit.

Will decides it is best to fight on the ground. he quickly
dismounts. Drawing his bastard sword from the horse sheath and
with other hand his shield he steps back. He swings wildly
at monk #26 but fails to hit.

Monk #15 moves forward toward Caladan. He swings his sword
at the man and hits against the shoulder doing minor damage.

Strie'bog remains on his horse and kicks it in motion moving
east past several Monks. he turns the horse around and grabs
         his bow ready to fire.

Monk #11 charges toward the wagon and gets to the right
side door. He starts to open it but finds it locked.

Monk #29 charges Chion and strikes at his right side. His
sword hits Chion's right shoulder and does a minor wound.

Monk #30 charges the few feet toward Farseeker and swings
his sword but fails to hit the warrior.

Monk #8 next to Chion swings his sword at the man but fails
         to strike.

Monk #17 joins his friends and attacks Caladan hitting the
man in the neck with the side of his blade doing a minor wound.

Monk #13 charges toward the right side wagon door and also
         fails to open it.

Monk #10 swings back at Farseeker and pierces his chest doing
         only a minor wound.

Monk #3 charges Ben'dar and swings but fails to hit the warrior.

Monk #14 charges forward to Kiet's position and thrusts up
but fails to hit the driver.

Monk #16 charges Raban and swings but fails to hit the giant.

Monk #4 breaks from the others and charges past Ben'dar
toward the stunned Kell. He swings at Kell but the trader
moves just in time to miss the blade.

Monk #19 joins his friends and attacks Caladan doing another
minor to the barbarian this time to his right arm.

Whitney is jerked almost off the wagon when it stops. He
suddenly sees Chion, Strie'bog and Farseeker attacked
in the back of the wagon area. He undoes his rope ties and
stands up on the small plank to go for his axe.

Zhou looks out the left side of the wagon and just says, "oh
         dear."

Fremea shakes her head at Zhou and realizes something bad is
going on. She quickly goes to the hidden compartment below the
seats to get her bow and quiver.

         Actions? Comments?

         Next Update...Friday...

GM: Only 1 phase sorry. This one alone took 3 hours to do.
It is 2am and bed in an hour so no time to finish the second
phase. I'll try for 2 more in next update.

GM: If dismounted horses are off map for less clutter but noted
on map for coordinates. Dead will be removed as well.

GM: Arawn - I got your email late and update was mostly over.
If I had gotten it hours earlier or even the night before
could've read it and done actions there. Sorry. I had
already typed up most of the update by time got it.
For next update I'll work on it a bit Wednesday and
rest Thursday (subtle hint :)) If you fire the bow
let me know targets. I will assume you don't fire on
monks next to players. If the email has other actions
I'll do that when read it in detail.

Ben'dar - I assumed you would have gotten off Tef'wo. Once
he was wounded any further use of the horse would
likely endanger the wounds as is. If I'm wrong let me
know but this is a horse safety issue. It is a
minor wound for the horse but the hooves being sensitive
could make the wounds bigger by further combat/charges.

Fremea - What side do you fire the bow from? Do you
leave the wagon? Right side door is blocked mostly while
the left isn't at this point.

Kiet - Same with the horses. The draft horses are scared
and hurt. You can drive them further but the other horses
could be hurt as well. You could try to back up the wagon
but then there is Farseeker and backing up a wagon is
               slightly hard.

Kell - Sorry I know you wanted to charge. But the lasso
moves were planned. To give them a slight edge they
needed folks off the horses. In fact one was to be
used on the driver but decided Raban seemed the biggest
threat. Your horse is fine though if you wish to remount.

Raban - I know you wanted to intimidate but the rope thing
shifted that slightly. Maybe next phase. It took all
action time to get off and do the rope pull so didn't
have time to bash the poor lad.

Whitney - Will assume Axe use and not sling attacks. Let me
know if you have a particular target else will be random.

Z'leyra - You have one on ground and one on your horse right
up against the side of the wagon in arm's reach.

GM: Wow. Caltrops. I've not used them in over 20 years! The
other day thought of them and found a cool website on how
they were used against horses like this instance. So it
fit the scene and their agenda. :) One way to level the
playing field by taking out the horse team. :)

GM: Sigh. Those darn Dwarves. Gave me Dwarf flu. It is worse
than pig flu. Recovering from the cold but did this update
with a blurred eye from the head cold so hope all is in order.
