     Game Update #16 in sequence (file #67]

    Admin notes: Sorry for delay.  Been busy again.  New stuff at
    the house.  Work.  Blah Blah.  Plus sometimes the brain does not
    cooperate with the fingers to do these updates.  I see the
    email still distorted the header above.  Oh well.  Its fine in
    my file and the website at least :)

    [Recap]

       From Z'leyra: [Re: Healing/Actions]
          Z'leyra offers to heal any party members that are injured,
          using healing skill and healing massage before using a
          Healing Spell. She has plenty of mana but will certainly
          not object to others getting experience in healing.

          After the healing and those still wounded settling down to
          rest she will offer to help track the serpent women to their
          lair. "I am a good tracker, let me help assist in tracking
          these creatures to their lair."

          As far as the fate of the prisoner goes: "I do not forsee
          this prisoner living long unless she escapes. I say we avoid
          the hassle of transporting the prisoner to her demise and
          simply release her soul to seek its rebirth or other fate in
          the afterlife."
       GM: Ack.

       From Strie'bog: [Re: Actions]
          To Ben'dar -
          Strie'bog [to the group]:  "While I can heal with touch or
          song, I am not as skilled as others in this art.  Ben'dar's
          wounds are more serious than first saw.  One who is more
          skilled at healing would better serve his needs."

          Strie'bog [to Z'leyra]:  "My mother taught me how to use
          massage to ease the pains of others.  May I watch as you work
          on those wounded?  I feel that I could learn much from one
          skilled in the healing arts."

          Strie'bog [to Farseeker]: "I would like join you, for I have
          much to learn about this land, but I would slow you down and
          speed is of essence.  I will remain here to help guard those
          who are wounded."  He looks a little down about this turn of
          events, but he is willing to stay.

          Strie'bog [regarding the life of the Serpent Woman] Note: he
          speaks with more authority in his voice, as if he is a judge
          issuing a ruling.  He seems less meek/mild than previously
          seen.  "It is to great a risk to keep her bound, and the
          damage she has reaped upon this land is a greivous wrong. If
          those who have been injured wish this beasts to be brought to
          them dead or alive, then it is right to pronounce judgement.
          Let the evidence of their death be brought to those who were
          wronged."

          Strie'bog [to Farseeker regarding Treasure]: "I have never
          been in need of riches Farseeker, but this land is different
          from my homeland.  Still, it is just to give the riches
          stolen by these women back to those who have been wronged.
          So, my choice is that it be returned."

          Strie'bog will stay with those who have been wounded, and
          will watch Z'leyra work if she allows it.

          One question:  How good is Strie'bog's night vision?
       GM: Ack.  As to night visiion.  Normal human night vision.
          Not as great as say the Elf or Faerry.

       From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
          Ben'Dar scratches his head and says half-jokingly, "You're
          going to try to track out the monsters' lair in the middle of
          the night?  Are the tracks going to disappear between now and
          morning?"  But since Ben'Dar's not planning on going anywhere
          this night, he shrugs and directs his attention toward getting
          some healing.  Upon hearing Strie'bog's comment regarding
          healing, he nods.

          Ben'Dar will receive non-magical healing from Z'leyra and
          magical healing from Jordi.
    
          Ben'Dar will remain in camp the rest of the night and rest.

          If the will of the party is to slay the snake creature,
          Ben'Dar will do it.  Since it was he who spared its life
          earlier in single combat (due only to fear of mistaken
          identity), Ben'Dar feels it is his duty as a warrior to give
          his defeated enemy a clean death.
       GM: Ack.

       From Z'leyra: [Re: Healing]
          Z'leyra inquires of the party "I know several of you have
          healing spells of one type or another. It is an excellent
          idea for you to utilize this chance for you to get better. Do
          any of you have healing skills that do not utilize magic? If
          so, this is an excellent chance to practice the skill on some
          of the less wounded injured."     "I will be happy to
          demonstrate the skills, and spells of healings that I know.
          If you know others I would be happy to learn. Unless someone
          proves to be better than I at healing, it would probably be
          best that I treat the most severly injured as I can bring them
          most quickly to good health."

          "If there is time I try to use healing massage <note: this is
           part of eroticist skill> with balms and oils and healing skill
           with a healing kit that utilizes healing herbs before, and
           after, any healing spell.

          This increases the healing likely to happen by a considerable
          amount."
          <It allows 1xhealing spell and 2x HC rolls, with big modifiers,
           each way.>

          "By the way, I do have magic stones that automatically cure
           death poisons and diseases, they require being swirled in the
           proper water filled goblet and the water then being drunk.
           Remember this if I am affected." <She smiles>
       GM: Ack.  A erotict massage with you in the buff and the disco
         ball floating above and music...err..slap...

           Strie'bog:  "Z'leyra, I was taught the art of healing
           massage that you have described.  I would like to watch in
           hopes of learning."

           Z'leyra responds "Certainly. And if you have suggestions
           feel free to mention them. While I consider myself one of
           best with traditional healing skills that I have ever met,
           I know that I still have a great deal to learn in doing
           healing massages."
       GM: Ack.

           Strie'bog:  "Z'leyra, I was taught the art of healing

       GM: Ack.

       From Jordi: [Re: Actions]
         "Well, I don't like the idea of killing a captured enemy...
          but I think this one deserves a quick death.  Not killing
          it now is a risk for us and a risk for the nearly
          population." 
          After thinking it for some seconds, Jordi decides to go
          with the party who will look for the lair of the monsters.
       GM: Ack. 
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    [New Stuff]

     Sepes 5, Thusuda in the 163rd Year [TH]
     Location: 28 Miles NW of Maren City, Plains/Road
     Time: 11:50pm, Partly Cloudy, No Moon, Party camp

     [It takes about 15-20 minutes for the horses to be found.
      As one segment of the party head for the horses another
      prepare their horses for departure.  Some get their gear
      and armor on.  The prisoner is gagged and tied up while
      still in human form.  Another party prepares Balrog and
      Ben'dar's wounds.]

     Farseeeker to Strie'bog : "Don't be sad.  Unfournately its
       not a factor of skill or might its more a factor of speed
       to get to this lair.  The donkey would just slow us down
       too much.  Nothing personal.  As to the riches from the
       lair thanks for the offer for the families."

     Farseeker to Ben'dar: "Tracking at night is normally hard
       to do.  But three females shouldn't be too hard to
       track.  Thig is our best tracker at night and really
       our best tracker.  He should be able to scout enough
       ahead of our horses to guide us.  The reason for going
       now is there could be prisoners in the lair or those they
       wish to kill or eat.  Its best we find such people if
       they are injured.  Xian can help heal those we find."

     [[Ben'dar's adrenline fades and he realizes he has 2 ribs
      broken.  He settles to the ground and lets Z'leyra deal
      with his injuries.  Z'leyra first patches up the bruises
      with some healing balms.  Then has Ben'dar lay down for
      a massage with some oils for his upper torso where the
      damage is done.  The full massage takes 35 minutes well
      after the lair party has left.  Jordi, Unali and Strie'bog
      watch intently the process.  Ben'dar actually somewhat
      likes the attention and the massage.  The oil feels good.
      When she is finished Jordi comes and lays hands on the
      broken ribs and central back hard bruise from the club.
      He casts a healing spell and muscle reforms in the back.
      The bruise slowly disappears as well as the damaged ribs
      join back together.  Ben'dar sits up and feels completley
      refreshed and healed.  No sign of damage on your back or
      ribs at this time.]
     GM: With the healer skill, massage and Jordi's healing spell
       Ben'dar heals the 12 points back to 100% status.

     [Chion meanwhile casts a healing spell for himself and
      his spell completely heals himself as well.]
     GM: At 100% now.  

     [Caladan, Farseeker, Jordi, Trembyl and Xian mount their
      horses.  Thig's dogs follow while Thig takes a lighted
      torch to carry for him tracking while he flies.]

     Farseeker to Chion: "Sorry you'll just slow us down.  You
       better stay here and protect the others.  We shouldn't
       be that long."

     GM: Chion, see email I sent.  Guess this was ok as no reply
       from that.  With your speed of 9 for the horse it'd have
       slowed the others down who were at MR 23 almost twice
       as fast.  So this way they get the job done faster.  Just
       a matter of speed here.

     [Near the strike of midnight the lair group heads out on
      their horses.  Thig finds the tracks quiet easilly as
      they seem to come from one direction after about 500 feet.
      At that point the demons were summoned it seems then the
      three divided to surround the party.]

     [This leaves the resting Balrog, wounded Ben'dar under
      the healing hands, Chion, Kasha who returns with the
      horses, Strie'bog, Unali and Z'leyra to remain in the camp.]

     [While everyone is watching Ben'dar and Z'leyra in their
      massage Chion edges near the prisoner near the campfire.
      She glares at him with her serpentine eyes. Eyes that
      show pure hatred and desperation.]

     From Chion:
       Chion will walk towards the creature on the ground and state,
       "Who's lands are these? Are these the lands of humans or
        beasts such as these? Both perhaps. Who are we to decide
        whether we should give them over to human authorities? All
        we know is that her and her allies tried to kill us. And we
        should not take that personally. They would do the same to
        anyone." He'll pause for a second over her body and look
        around. "If there is to be justice, let it be done by those
        whom she offended. Not some court in a far away land. We do
        good by assuring no more deaths at the cost of death."
        Whereupon he'll sink his weapon(s) into her skull.

     [As Chion draws his Sai weapons Ben'dar sees this and raises
      up which startles Z'leyra.  Unali turns just in time as well.
      Kasha riding in on a horse tries to shout but is too late.
      Standing behind the women Chion draws and then plunges the
      Sai into the soft backside of the woman's skull.  This kills
      the serpent woman instantly before the blade is half way in.
      A quick and [painless?] death.  She falls to the ground.]

     [Kasha stares at Chion and shakes his head but then shrugs
      and heads off to tie his horse back up.  Strie'bog is
      disappointed but figures this is not the best time to
      bring anything up.]

     [The three women and bodies of the demons are taken a bit
      away from camp about 100 yards away.  Camp is remade.
      No one has real shovels to dig up decent graves for the
      women but that may not be their practice anyways.]

     [Meanwhile....Thig leads the small party way into the distant
      northwest.  Thig stops to regain his bearings but seems to
      track the footprints in the loose dirt easilly.  Maybe
      with magic or just skill?  He remarks the footprints of the
      3 women are human so they stayed in human form for most
      of their trip likely.]

     [An hour and half pass...    Time: 1:30am]

     [New sentries are posted and some hit their bedrolls and
      try to get some sleep.  While on the track...]

     Farseeker: "...We found they were using a area of 12 miles
       for their hunting grounds when we first tried to hunt them
       down.  No more than 15.  But in just about every case their
       lair was no more than six miles from their attacks.  So
       we should be close."

     [Time: 2:05am - 4 miles from camp]

     [Xian cocks his head and notices something.  He concentrates
      for a few seconds then calls out.]
     Xian: "Stop.  Thig!  Stop!  Listen."
     [As the group listen they only hear the breathing of the
      horses and torch burning sound.  Then they notice it.  There
      is no noise from crickets or other animals.  No frogs, no
      bugs...nothing..cautiously they continue on.]

     [Time: 2:10am]

     [In the distance a structure is first seen by Thig then
      few seconds later as he closes the others.  It seems to
      be a small hut of some kind.  As thig flies over the light
      is seen from most of the walls and through the walls.  It
      eventually turns out to be a burnt out farmhouse of some
      kind.  Maybe a small 3 room structure with a loft.  Only
      one real wall remains about 3 feet tall.  Thig finds the
      tracks end in this area.  Caladan finds a tipped over
      lantern and lights it with his magic.  A hole is found
      that may have once been a cellar door but now open to the
      air.  Unsure of any creatures inside thig tosses a burnt
      piece of table down into the dark pit.  The group sees
      nothing but some water and trash.]

     Farseeker: "This damage looks maybe months old I doubt they
       would've done this.  But they likely found the place and
       used it as a lair.  The pit makes perfect sense for them
       as a typical place to live."
     [Xian casts a spell and levitates down the hold with Thig
      hovering nearby.  They find no other creatures aside from
      some cockroaches.  But theres clear evidence that they
      used the pit as a lair.  Decaying food, a bowl used for
      rain collection, a candle, bones....animal and...human
      bones...]
     Thig: "Looks like a small child and maybe a adult set o
       bones down here."
     [Scales are found and some daggers found with some clothing
      and leather armor torn to shreds...]

     [The party continues to search and find no one alive beyond
      bones that seem to have been there for a couple weeks with
      bugs taking most of the flesh.  Some treasure is found
      and packaged up. Sadly the bones are too much to carry so
      its decided folks will be sent out to collect or bury them.]

     [Time: 2:30am.  The lair party remount and make a bee line
      back to the campsite in silence...]

     [time: 4:15am - Not needing to track the horses can go
      faster back so the party arrive back in camp and dismount.
      Some are still asleep so they talk quietly.]

     GM: Lair treasure found
         o Coins - 255 CC   12 SC   14 GC [Single bag now]
         o Two Buckler shields, Quilted Armor, Metal Helmet
         o Two Scale Mails
         o Plate Armor - damaged and rusty
         o Metal Medium Status 112 Weight value 1008 CC
         o Keg - 20 qt 80% full [16 qt] Salted Meat
     GM: Will assume the above will be given to Crossroad authorities
       to be distributed back to the families of those killed unless
       stated otherwise?

     [The lair party learn of Chion killing the prisoner and some
      just shake their head in response but it would likely been
      done ..or had to be done...soon enough anyways.]

     Sepes 6, Frisda in the 163rd Year [TH]
     Location: 32 Miles NW of Maren City, Plains/Road

       [In the morning a heavy fog sets in for about 45 minutes
        then lifts as it warms up.  The rest of the day remains
        clear and sunny.]

       [The group travels on down the road as fast as their
        slowest member can go.  ]

       [Time: 7:39am - Almost immediately on the road the party
        encounters 6 peasants walking down the road toward Maren
        with wagons of food and other wares they are going to
        sell.  The party passes each other by without incident.]

       [That night camp is made and there is no other encounters.]

                                --------------

     Sepes 7, Satusda in the 163rd Year [TH]
     Location: 46 Miles NW of Maren City, Plains/Road

       [The party heads back onto the road again.  Nothing
        happens in the early morning.]

       [Time: 11:48am/Road.  A band of 3 travellers on horse
        back is encountered on the road.  They seem to speak
        a Donaran accent but its quickly determined they
        are heading to Maren city for business.  Both parties
        depart in peace.]

       [That morning and afternoon the sky is partly cloudy
        with a slight drop in temperature.  But that afternoon
        a storm approaches.  The party decides to make
        camp a half hour earlier to prepare for the storm.  A
        camp is set off the road in a area that can take rain
        without mud or flooding.  The storm approaches and
        dumps a half inch of rain with some lightning.  But
        nothing adverse comes from it aside from drenched goods
        and people.]

                                --------------

     Sepes 8, Monada in the 163rd Year [TH]

     Location: 54 Miles NW of Maren City, Plains/Road

        [Around 9:46am - The party encounters 5 moderately
         dressed travellers on horseback.  They seem to
         be well armed all 5 men.  They glance at the size
         of the party and speak quietly but pass by without
         interference.  They could probably be bandits but
         they know they would not likely win a battle almost
         2 to 1 odds.]

        [Around 2pm and 8 miles traveled the party encounters
         the river.  There they encounter a large bridge that
         could fit 2 large wagons side by side.  The party
         spots a single guard shack nearby to protect the bridge
         or report problems.  The guard a bored solider just
         waves at the party as they pass.  About half hour
         later a quick 10 minute rain cloud is formed and
         drenches the party but it feels cool and not that adverse.]

        [The party continues on the last 6 miles and eventually
         nearing the town Farseeker urges them to continue even
         when the party finds themselves in darkness.  Soon the
         party finds lights of the village.]

        Farseeker: "Crossroads town.  It has about 450 people
          at any one time and upwards of 1200 during harvest
          season like now.  Its a trade center for the peasants
          and farmers on the plains.  From here they can sell
          their goods if they can't afford to head to the cities.
          We can find some lodgings and sleep the night."
        Balrog: "I'll need to find a new suit of leather armor."

     Location: 60 Miles NW of Maren City, Plains/Road
       At the crossroads of the 3 roads.  Village surrounds
       the road area and mostly on the river side.
     Time: 8pm

                                     --------

     GM: Soom administration stuff first.  This is the end of day 8
       when entering the town of Crossroads.

       Balrog    - Fully Healed day 6.  In Crossroads will buy leather
                   armor.  Buys 2 days worth of food more.
                   No other issues.
       Caladan   - At full Mana. In Crossroads buys some more travel
                   rations for next leg of travel to Cholchara.  Buys
                   extra travel rations for next leg.  No other issues.
       Thig      - No food or other issues.
       Kasha     - Buys more travel rations for next leg of trip
       Xian      - No food or other issues
       Trembyl   - Buys more food and travel rations for next leg
       Farseeker - Has enough foood for next leg of trip.
       Z'leyra   - No food issue
       Jordi     - Will need more food for next leg.
                   Permission to buy? 
       Ben'dar   - Day 8 runs out of food so goes hunting to find
                   enough food for himself.  Needs food for next
                   leg of travel. Permission to buy?
       Unali     - Will need to buy food for next leg of trip.

     So therefore...

       With permission these expenses will be done

       I'll buy rations for the following unless you say otherwise.

       As far as grain.  In the next leg of the trip 20 days ride
       time to Cholchara (due to slow speed of the slowest horse)
       I've figured out its .2 CC per 1 pound of 1 FP per horse.
       Now I figured 860 pounds for all horses or 860 FP.  Since
       the second leg is going further north there is more grass
       for grazing.  So I'm taking that into account.  As a result
       1-3 FP I figure from grazing day.  Based on this 2 on average.
       Based on this I figure a total of 500 pounds of grain split
       among the group should be sufficient.  So based on this
       I've come up with the following figures.

       Actually now that I think of it.  To make your life easier.
       Assume the costs above are paid by Caladan as token of
       friendship for his help.  So no costs to you guys.
       Total cost for next leg of food for Caldan would be
       89 CC.   That finishes food off for next leg of trip.
       The system I've come up for grain is alot easier to deal with
       and I may do the smae for player food.  Water I'm not even
       worrying about as that just bog me down further.  I'll assume
       everyone handles that.  Only time I'd deal with food is long
       trips into desert or hot climates.

                        ------------------------

       Skills - I've reformmated that section on the horse report
       as well.  At this point Z'leyra goes up 1 EL in shield.
       No other advances.  Will assume continued use of the listed
       skills in further training.

        
       Magic - Section updated in horse report.  But keep in mind
       I did not record the Serpent Women combat in this report.
       I posted that seperately.

          Chion - You are now EL2 in Susteance when you enter Crossroads.

       Final Admin notes:
         * Everyone is fully healed 100% HPV
         * Everyone is fully at 100% mana [Except Z'leyra I think]
         * Food for horses is taken care of
         * Food for next leg has been assumed bought and paid for
         * Will assume Skill training for the next 20 days unless
           stated otherwise by you guys.

                        ------------------------

      Now back to the game stuff...

      [As the party enters Crossroads its 8pm so most of the shops
       are closed up for the night.  Taverns are still open though
       what little there is in the town.  Might as well sleep in
       town but if you prefer to camp outside that's fine.  LEt
       me know which.  Check the website for my pnp list on hotel
       rates if you need them.]

      The trip to Cholchara originally was 10 days but with the
      speed reduction from encumberance it now is 30 days.  However,
      once the party gets to Cholchara some will be (should be)
      skilled better in horses and increase future speeds.

      So what I need from you guys at this point

      * Stay in town or camp outside?
      * If hotel/inn hotel type/rate?
      * Any supplies you buy in the morning?
      * Any actions to perform that night?
      * Any changes to skill training for the next 20 days.
      * Any changes or new spells for magic during next leg 20 days.

      If theres no changes to your previous actions/spells then
      just say so.  Monday we'll leave Crossroads and continue
      up to Cholchara. 

     Actions?  Comments?

     Alot of the delay was the food stuff but I think I got it
     managed now to a better and more efficient pattern.  I know
     theres hunting and spells for food but its easier just to
     tack off rations when your dealing with 14 characters :)

     My sprained hand is better.  But been busy as well.  So
     sorry for delays but I'm still around.  The next 3 weeks
     could be hit or miss as well.  I have vacation and a 3 day
     event here at the house which may keep me away from the
     computer so we'll see how it goes.
