       From Ben'dar to Farseeker: [Re: Reply to comments]
         To Farseeker:  Ben'Dar nods, "Yes, it is a common way for a
         young warrior to show both his skill with a horse and also
         his courage." If Ben'Dar can tell which of the riders the
         leader is, he will add, "The leader of this band is (such
         and such).  You can tell by (so and so)”  (GM, you might have
         to fill in some blanks for me here "I'm sure Ben'Dar knows who
         the leader is, but I don't want to insert too much into the
         game from my own imagination!  J  )
       GM: Ack.  Will handle it later.

       From Ben'dar to Kasha: [Re: Reply]
         To Kasha:  "Yes, he's been embarrassed in front of his elders
         and he won't back down easily now.  There will be fighting
         shortly unless the leader steps in to stop it.  The leader
         may be impressed enough with Caladan to call the young warrior b
         ack.  We will see very shortly".
       GM: Ack.

       From Ben'dar: [Re: Actions]
         Ben'Dar maintains his readiness to either ride forward to talk
         or charge forward to fight with his spear.  If hostilities
         break out, he will charge forward at full speed, letting out
         ear-splitting whooping war cries, with his long black hair
         streaming out behind him in the wind.
       GM: Ack.  

       From Strie'bog to Caladan: [Re: Earlier reply]
         In response to Caladan. "Though the forest is different than
         the plains, my people also honor the balance of nature and
         defend the land.  I know many of the stories and songs of
         your people.  There are many similarities between us."
       Caladan: "Yes.  In the end we are all brothers." 
       GM: Ack. 

       From Strie'bog to Jordi: [Re: Music/Stories comment]
         To Jordi:  "Thank you.  It is a gift that has been nurtured
         since I was young, and is still a passion of mine.  The stories,
         well, they are also our history.  I know little of your people.
         If there are stories you could share, I will listen."
       GM: Ack.  

       From Strie'bog: [Re: Actions]
         Strie'bog will take his cues from the others.  When they prepare
         for battle, so will he.  For attack options, he will use his bow.
         As Caladan warned against using magic, he will refrain from using
         Fire arrow at first.
       GM: Ack. 

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    [New Stuff]

     Sepes 36, in the 163rd Year [TH]
       Location: River Sch (E) Riverbank, Zen'da Plains, 198 Miles
         North of Asichi City


       [There...that one...hes the leader.  Suddenly the young warrior
        starts to yell at a particular person.  The person replies
        back with gestures and words.  That would be rider #9 who
        seems to be the strongest body frame wise.  The leader yells
        for about 20 seconds.  By this time, the warriors are all
        looking at each other and not the party so this gives plenty
        of time to prepare weapons.

        Caladan's horse continues to become still.  The Firesnake
        seems to circle around in a large arc above the horse.  The
        young warrior turns to Caladan and then back to the riders.  He
        pulls on his reigns and trots back to the riders.  The leader
        who is only carrying a single lance gestures to the group.
        The group turns as a whole and starts to ride off.  

        Most think that's not right.  The warrior would be ashamed
        but maybe he is already shamed.  Caladan turns his horse
        around and begins to trot back.  Fives seconds later though
        the young warrior halts then turns and begins to charge toward
        Caladan.  Then 3 other riders turn seeing this and give a
        cry of support.  The leader yells something then all the
        riders oddly turn and charge toward the group.  Guess Caladan
        couldn't talk his way out of this one.

        We have combat it appears.

        No ambush.  Both sides had plenty of time to prepare.

        The party waits for the riders to act first as this could
        just be another test by the riders.  It would do no good
        to attack first without provocation.  

        Turn 1: Phase 1

          [Mana Allocation]

             Strie'bog begins to quietly chant something under
             his breath while preparing his gear.

             Trembyl while loading his arbalest behind Farseeker
             to block the view begins to say some magical words.

          [Missile Fire]

            [Those in the party that need long term loading weapons
             have had time to load them to complete the process.]

            [Suddenly 6 of the riders pull their bows up while their
             horse gallops at full speed.  They let go of their
             reins and one hand reaches back to grab a arrow then
             loads it quickly.  The six riders then aim quickly
             at targets and fire.  In one instant 6 arrows go flying
             ahead of the warriors..  At this range over 400 feet
             even a bow has a imposisble chance to hit.  Even worse
             firing from a moving horse.  But the warriors are
             likely doing it to scare only.  

             The arrows all miss automatically (30% chance to hit
             but +60 to roll - auto miss).  One flies toward Balrog,
             Ben'dar, Chion, Strie'bog, Xian and Z'leyra.  But all
             arrows impact on the ground way ahead of the horses.

             Xian and Trembyl load their Arbalests and prepare
             to fire them.  They know its long range so little
             chance to hit.  So they'll wait a few seconds.

             Strie'bog seeing the enemy fire first fires his long
             bow the only bow that has any decent range in the
             field of battle here.  It can go way past the range
             of the riders.  He aims at one target bu the arrow
             flies by the rider missing entirely.

          [Magic Effect - None Yet]

          [Melee & Movement]

             Ben'dar with a great howl gives a war cry and raises
             his spear in a gesture of force.  His horse seems to
             feel the moment and leaps ahead at full charge.  Ben'dar
             stands in the saddle for a half second then settles
             down.  They get 80 feet ahead of the party.  

             Kasha's horse also leaps forward and joins up with
             Ben'dar making about 80 feet.

             The Eagle takes high to the air soaring above the plains
             watching the battle unfold.

             Thig kicks his horse in gear.  Its odd seeing a faerry
             ride a horse in teh first place but the horse makes
             it 75 feet.  Then suddenly Thig lifts off the horse
             and goes flying into the sky with his repeating crossbow.

             Trembyl gallops forward doing about 60 feet.  He halts
             the horse as he'll need time for other things later
             next phase.

             Farseeker's horse heads forward making 70 feet.
             Balrog and Unali's horse heads forward and does 70 feet.

             The Zen'da riders head 50 feet toard the party.

             Jordi's horse goes forward with Jordi's spear in hand
                and makes it 60 feet.

             The 2 dogs run forward 50 feet.  The Wolf looks up at
             Strie'bog and wonders what he should do.

        Turn 1: Phase 2

          [Mana Allocation]

             Strie'bog finishes his chanting.

             Trembyl allocates more mana for a spell to finish.

             Caladan begins to allocate some magical power...

          [Missile Fire]

             Rider fires his bow again at Ben'dar and it falls
             short ahead of Ben'dar.

             Rider fires at Caladan with a 20% chance of hitting
             him.  But the arrow flies by the horse and misses.

             Two riders fire at Jordi and Kasha but goes wild
             and misses automatically at this distance still.

             Two more fires at Trembyl and Unali but misses as
             well in their hurried firing.

          [Magic Effect]

             Strie'bog feels a surge of power fall on him...

          [Melee & Movement]

             [Horses move toward each other...]

             Ben'dar   - 80 more feet.
             Kasha     - 80 more feet.   Some move slower due to 
             Farseeker , 70 more feet.   PMR changes in MR 
             Balrog    - 70 more feet.
             Unali     - 60 more feet.
             Trembyl   - 70 more feet.
             Unali     - 60 more feet.
             Dogs      - 40 more feet.   
             Zen'dali  - 50 more feet

     GM: Game Map - Keep in mind Emails and Mailing list messes up
       the Tabs.  For a more accurate view PLEASE see the website
       for this update link then view the map.  Sorry.
       For map terrain its all plains.  Ankle high bushes is
       about it for cover.  Top of map is north.  Thig's horses
       and the Draft horses aren't marked on map.  Everythign else
       should be on the map if not let me know.

     Next update Monday...

     If you havne't noticed from the riders they move about 5 hexes
     per phase.  Judge this for distance.  Use the Horse report
     to determine your effective MR (After encumberance).  Then
     you can break it down into an effective PMR if you need
     to judge your actions.  Also for Jordi and whoever else
     keep in mind distance - spear throwing for example is only
     good about 80 feet (8 hexes).

     Select your target or actions.  Select your direction if
     you don't keep forward.  Those left behind were not posted
     for actions so didn't know what to do there. More than
     likely most will be within melee range (hrose to horse)
     in 2 more phases.  If you get off your horse for ground
     action let me know.  Otherwise will assume you stay on
     the horse.  For gear you didn't need will assume you
     drop them on the ground to be collected later.

     Ben'dar has determined the leader as the party has based
     on his actions to the young warrior.  

     Ok.  Hope didn't forget anything this time :)
