    [During Chion's audience with king]
       King: "Being a stranger to this land you may not be aware.
         This land adores the gods of good and law. While there are a
         few sects of chaos in the realm we try to suppress them here.
         With the nearby lands of porta, clima and L'p'nth there is too
         much evil out there.  Evil grows and foster unrest and rebellion.
         Something I don't wish to see here.  Therefore any person who
         wishes to study such evil magic is not a friend of marentia...
         and not a friend of mine.   Do you still wish to take possession
         of the staff?"

    Chion:
      To wit Chion replies, "Perhaps this land sees chaos all around it
      because it is focussed so tightly on good and law. As there is no
      room in your kingdom for an even hand, I shall take my leave soon.
      I have no intent to foster unrest nor rebellion. For unrest would
      indicate a desire to be sure who my enemies are (looks at Farseeker).
      And rebellion would require my interest in this kingdom's well
      being (looks at Aren). Neither of these do I have (back to the
      King). I would never be so bold as to profess a personal friendship
      with your Lordship.  However, I do also count a certain kind of
      wisdom as a trait I posses. If you wish to possess the evil,
      rather than letting me take it to safe haven, far be it for my
      lowly station as a free man prevent your Highness. I reliquish
      my claim to the evil staff in order that you may deal with it as
      you will. Let it be noted that the forces of a balanced hand
      offered their aid to Marentia and it was refused."
      ("Skating Away" on the thin ice of life - playing in the background)

   [the King listens and a few moments of silence in the chamber goes
    on for what seems forever.  Farseeker, Aren, Xian and others look
    at each other in mild astonishment and confusion.  The courtiers
    to the left fidge back and forth with nervious expectation.  The
    guards in the upper balcony and lower area suddenly become
    alert as if expecting a royal decree.  The king simply stares
    at Chion for seconds...then a moment.  Then without a word the
    king waves his hand up and gives a gesture to chion he may leave.
    The king stares at Chion as he walks back to the party group.
    He looks carefully over the face of those in the hall and then
    turns and waves a servant over.  He whispers to the servant who
    nods and looks at chion.  Then the king waves him away.  The
    servant rushes off.]

   [Chion returns to his place and watches as the next person sees
    the king personally.]

   [Later Farseeker will meet up with Chion and ask]
   Farseeker: "In that speech.  You looked at me specifically.
     Why?"

   A very QUICK update.

   Status -

    Three month Activities -

     Ben'dar - 90% done.  Just got to finish Ranch info.
     Chion   - Have actions more or less gotta do encounters
     Jordi   - Still waiting
     Unali   - Got some ideas but waiting on email reply
     Z'leyra - Still waiting but working on them

    So at this point I should finish the Ben'dar ranch this week
    and then start on actions for Unali and Chion.

    Now.  What follows is the Events for the 3 months for Ben'dar.
    For almost 2 months he spends time with Z'leyra.  The last
    month he stays on his ranch.  You can read or not read. Its
    more a gee whiz thing and something Ben'dar may have given
    stories bout on the trip to next adventure areas or in tavern
    over a nice mug of ale.

  Encounters for Ben'dar

  Day 1 - 1:30pm

    First day of learning the blacksmith skill.  The shop is surrounded
    by a gang of 7 criminals.  They want revenge on the blacksmith
    who cheated their gang of protection money.  They wish to burn
    the place down and kill ANY in the place.  At once they enter
    the shop from various doors and angles.  They ambush the group.
    The smith grabs his tools for weapons and is attacked by 3.
    Ben'dar gets 2 and Z'leyra gets 2.  For Ben'dar it takes 4
    phases to kill both men.  The first man he kills on the first
    strike.  The second he takes 2 blows to do it.  But the second
    man gave a 3 point wound to Ben'dar in the process. The smith
    kills 3 of them very quickly with his brute strength and the
    heat of his weapons and fire.  Z'leyra fights 2 one flees
    hurt when his dagger flies away from him by her staff.  He
    would later be found by guards.  The other would be killed.

  Day 2 - 5pm

    As Z'leyra and Ben'dar prepare to leave the shop a single city
    guard comes by to check on the shop.  he warns that with the
    death of the gang the shop may see further problems but the
    city will post a few guards nearby just in case.  

  Night 2 - 1:09am

    Your awaken to a dog barking in the alley from your hotel room.
    You notice in the darkness a white mist form near the window.
    You think its fog from the waterfront.  But it seems to move
    into the room.  You jump up and grab your pike up against the
    wall.  You notice the mist/cloud form into a shape.  By then
    you open the door to the hallway to bring in light.  You turn
    back to stare at a large being in the corner formed solid now.
    The being jumps across the room at supernatural speed and
    you swing.  You hit the creature drawing an imprresive 16
    point hit (12 after its armor) to the creature.  Its thrown
    to the wall.  You head into the wall and back away giving
    a yell for others.  By now you hear the window open and you
    look in to see the being dissolve and form into a bat.  The
    bat flies out of the window.  A vampire!  You hurry and
    lock the window and for the rest of the night you don't sleep.

  Night 4 - 7:44pm

    While coming to the hotel from a tavern (dinner) both Ben'dar
    and Z'leyra encounter 2 Entertainers singing and playing
    their instruments in the street.  Z'leyra gives a few BBs
    as tip.  

  Day 8 - 11:03am

    While Ben'dar and Z'leyra are walking from her school to place
    where tanning is done.  While en route both notice a ship where
    a commotion is starting.  Men with chains are yelling at a
    bunch of people who have stormed teh deck.  All are dressed
    in rags or tattered clothing.  Five female and five male
    adults.  There is a group of men 10-14 on deck using whips and
    other clubs to bash the people down below decks.  Z'leyra heads
    to get dock guards while Ben'dar yells from the dock watching
    the docked ship.  This causes the commotion to get larger and
    more rowdy as both sides tries to win their goal (escape or
    submission).  The riot of noise continues for 5 full minutes
    then finally guards rush down the wharf street.  They are yelling
    and this causes three of the sailors to turn which causes the
    slaves to push forward and knock them against the side of the
    ship.  Four slaves grab clubs from others and the tide turns.
    Ben'dar yells and waves for them to enter onto the land.  Hes
    not sure if they understand him though.  Z'leyra's eagle flies
    down and lands on the rigging and picks at a rope joint.  This
    causes it to fray and then break which causes the rigging to
    creak. The sailors realize this and know disaster could come
    of it so 2 of the sailors break off to get to the ropes.  This
    causes the slaves to further take the battle.  They bash and
    knock down 6 of the sailors.  Then as if in a group mind race
    for the gangplank.  By now 8 guards are running down the street
    with Z'leyra.  7 of the Slaves get to the docks and land and
    ben'dar helps them.  Three are cut off by the sailors as they
    recover.  Three sailors chase after the others and leave the
    ship.  Three sailors with clubs and daggers charge Ben'dar.
    Ben'dar thrusts his spear and hits one for minor damage.  Two
    of the sailors miss but the third stabs Ben'dar in the upper
    right arm doing 5 points.  Ben'dar hits another guard for minor
    damage.  Two miss but a third hits with a club for 3 more
    points.  By now the guards and Z'leyra help to pull back and
    subdue the men.   After an hour the guards determine what has
    occured.  The ship was a pirate ship from porta here from a
    storm where they took damage.  The slaves were taken from
    Donara.  The 7 slaves are taken and will later be allowed to
    return home.  The guards are forced to release the ship as
    they can't board.  But the 3 that entered Marentian land are
    arrested for slave trafficing.  An hour later the ship leaves
    but suddenly runs into 3 marentian patrol craft which board
    for inspection.  The sailors outnumbered are asked if anyone
    wishes to depart.  The 3 slaves left rush at the chance and
    are escorted off the ship.  The pirate ship is let go at that
    point and enters international waters.  The 10 slaves thank
    Ben'dar for the help and 3 weeks later are back home in Donara.

  Night 9 - 11:03pm

    While Z'leyra and Ben'dar rest they hear a loud noise like
    a riot in a nearby city street.  The two exit and follow
    the noise to see lights in the distance of maybe torches.
    It seems a mob has formed.  Ben'dar suggests to re-enter
    the building as he is protecting Z'leyra.  Ben'dar watches
    from the window the noises but never sees any of the actual
    riot.  In the morning news trickles that a group of 19 or 20
    bandits got into a tavern brawl and roamed the street looking
    for any target to beat.  The cause is still a mystery.  But
    it took 30 guards to finally subdue the mob and arrest most
    of them.

  Day 10 - 3:12pm

    While Z'leyra works at various things a group of 6 patrolmen
    find them and just let her nad Ben'dar know they are on patrol
    due to the events from the last night.  Nothing else comes of it.

  Night 12 - 6:37pm
    
    While returning from a shop for supplies Ben'dar and Z'leyra
    encounter a street full of about 13 entertainers.  Some are
    singing, some are juggling or playing music.  Both stop to
    enjoy the site.  

  Night 13 - 8:27pm

    While traveliing down a street from a tavern (eating) both
    Ben'dar and Z'leyra encounter a group of 13 peasants who
    are grouping together and talking excitedly.  It seems
    they are talking about some good crops that soon should pop
    up but that's about it. 

  Day 14 - 4:12pm

    In this encounter both find 2 merchants arguing with each other.
    One seems to say the other cheated the other person.  But both
    Ben'dar and Z'leyra just walk and ignore the scene.  It doesn't
    seem to need to be interfered with. 

  Night Day 19 - 5:47pm

     After returning from a errand only encounter is a group of 6
     peasants who are gambilng in the street.  Both Ben'dar and
     Z'leyra avoid the heated gambling.

  Day 20 - 2:49pm

     While Z'leyra is inside working on something else Ben'dar
     encounters a large mangy dog.  Ben'dar thinks him friendly but
     then discovers the dog is rabid when he is foaming at the mouth.
     From the ribs he also seems hungry.  The dog charges straight for
     Ben'dar and leaps.  Ben'dar is able to just dodge a certain bite.
     Ben'dar swings around with his spear but misses.  By now Ben'dar
     is fully healed from the slave encounter.  But the dog turns and
     bites Ben'dar in the upper leg doing 3 points of damage.  Six
     seconds of dodge and bite occur with no blows from each.  Then
     ben'dar gets a strike in doing 6 points of damage to the dog.
     Another 6 seconds and ben'dar hits for 4 more points with the
     spear killing the dog.  Ben'dar slumps down and grabs his wound.
     Z'leyra will help to heal and cure the disease from Ben'dar.

  Day 25 - 4:16pm

    A group of 7 Travellers meet up with both Z'leyra and Ben'dar
    and ask for directions.  They are friendly so no encounter
    occurs beyond some chit-chat.

  Day 28 - 11:45am

    A messenger arrives and gives a scroll to Ben'dar.  Z'leyra
    helps to read it and it turns out to be a report on the
    ranch from teh steward.

  Night 29 - 5:48pm

    While going to a errand a person comes up to both and says
    she is lost.  Ben'dar and Z'leyra help give directions to
    her destination.

  Night 32 - 6:19pm

    While returning back to Z'leyra's place a man exits his nice
    middle class home crawling.  Blood trickles from his shoulder.
    On investigation ben'dar finds 5 people inside the home, 3
    are dead (2 adults and 1 young boy).  The male outside and
    2 other kids are hurt from stabs and cuts.  Z'leyra quickly
    assess the damage and helps them through healing skill and
    magic.  Ben'dar rushes to find help and guards.  Later
    investigation turns out that the family was attacked by 4
    people who entered the house the night before.  The family
    fought back and 3 died.  But the bandits left the place
    shortly before Ben'dar/Z'leyra got there.  Unfournately
    only one of the bandits would later be caught as the other
    2 could not be clearly identified.  Z'leyra helps to save
    the 3 from dying and they are sent to a healers hospital.

  Day 42 - 4:04pm

    Rumors abound about the group by now who has returned to
    Marentia (the party).  Rumors of their exploits some true
    and some not.  A group of 8 adventurerers find Ben'dar and
    Z'leyra and question them about their exploits.  They recall
    the warning by the king not to mention details of clima per se
    but do talk about various aspects of battle.  Two of them
    get slightly discouraged by the amount of blood and death from
    talk of Z'leyra but the other 6 in the party get excited.  They
    eventually travel off for some land on horses after a hour of
    talking with the two.

  Day 46 - 12:33pm

    Ben'dar and Z'leyra spot a group of 12 pilgrims in full robes
    chanting going down a street they are on.  They don't block
    their way and quietly let them pass.

  [Days 59-90 At Ranch]

  Day 64 - 3:12pm

    while heading along the fenceline of the ranch on inspection
    Ben'dar is jumped on the outside of the fence by 2 bandits.
    Before Ben'dar can get to his horse.  He has his spear with
    him however.  The battle takes 18 seconds with no damage
    to Ben'dar but both bandits are killed (1 with 1 blow and
    the second with 2 blows).  Ben'dar alerts city guards to
    pick up the bodies.  

  Day 63 - 8:22am

    While riding a horse to see how it dealw with a new rider
    Ben'dar encounters a family of deer in the nearby bushes
    and examines them as they feed.  Nothing comes of it.

  Night 66 - 3:33am

    Ben'dar is awken by the horses that are in the corral (some
    stay there at night to excercise their legs who are not
    keen on barn space - part of training).  Ben'dar exits his
    house and sees nothing but brings out a lantern.  It takes
    about 20 minutes with the help of 2 ranchhands and they
    spot a group of 4 cat like creatures in the distance near
    the fence.  The creatures don't seem to enter the ranch
    itself but skitter away eventually.  It was hard to see them
    actually.  Later Ben'dar learns they were Cait Sith.

  Night 67 - 1:12am

    A loud THUMP noise is heard and wakes Ben'dar.  Then another
    as if hail is hitting the roof of the house.  But then he
    hears the noise of the horses.  He grabs his pike and heads
    outside.  Suddenly a sound is heard above and a large head
    sized boulder flies toward the house and slams into the
    roof shattering.   Ben'dar looks around and spots a large 30
    foot creature - later he finds to be an Athach throwing stones
    toward the ranch from about 500 feet away beyond the ranch
    property.  Ben'dar rushes inside and grabs his quiver and bow.
    he then mounts his own horse and rides toward the creature while
    yelling for the guards to rally.  Using his horse he dodges and
    weaves the boulders as he fires at it hitting the creature 3
    times for total of 22 points.  He misses twice.  The 5th thrown
    boulder at him however shatters ride near his horse and a rock
    hits hits need but the pants protect the shrapnel and no damage.
    By now the guards are on their horses and rallying.  Another
    boulder whizzes past but the second hits Ben'dar's shoulder
    and throws him off the horse at a tumble.  Ben'dar drops his
    bow and using his horsemanship skill and other abiltiijes is
    able to tumble safely.  He only takes 1 point of damage.  By
    now the guards rush up and surround the creature finishing
    him off.  

  Day 71 - 2:42pm

    A ranch hand fixing a fix on the outer perimeter far from the
    house is attacked by a group of great apes.  The ranchhand
    gets on his horse just in time to escape a minor wound.  He
    gets back to the house.  The guards and Ben'dar return to the
    spot and track the apes.  The group finds 4 male large great
    apes and a clan of 14 female great apes in one area.  They've
    must've moved down from the high mountains.  One guard says that
    without the males the females would likely flee so for safety
    of the ranch the males are charged and attacked.  The guards
    take care of 3 of the apes while Ben'dar and another guard
    takes another ape on by himself.  The females flee with one
    male up into the hills. One guard only takes a minor bite
    wound but heals eventually.  Three of the male great apes
    were killed.  

  Day 72 - 4:10pm

    After 2 months Ben'dar is happy to find that he gets his
    first customer a merchant from Maren looking for a new
    team of horses fo rhis supply wagons.  He meets with
    Ben'dar, the Stward and trainers for a order.  The contract
    will be fullfilled when the horse training period is over.
    Which may take 2 years however.  

  Day 73 - 6:12pm

    Out riding a ranch hand spots one of the great apes, he
    thinks a large male, in the hills with 2 other smaller ones
    likely females.  They scare off as he approaches but the
    steward decides to ask a hunter in Maren to go and track them
    down to relocate or kill them since there are nearby hamlets
    and villages that could be in danger as well.

  Day 75 - 9:07am

    Ben'dar while in the corral is surprised to see a goat among
    the horses grazing.  He askes around and no one seems to know
    how it got there.  It must've snuck in.  Ben'dar tries to
    drive the goat out of the corral but the large goat charges
    the unarmed ben'dar.  Eventually 3 guards lead the goat out
    by roping it and out of the ranch property.

  Night 75 - 5:45pm

    Another group of farmers arrive to offer possible sales to
    the ranch.  News of the ranch seems to have spread around
    to local villages.  The steward arranges for future foal
    orders.

  Day 82 - 11:32pm

    The ranch is visited by 6 marentian military on patrol on
    horseback.  They are surprised to see the ranch being worked
    and ask for documentation.  Ben'dar easilly shows the deed
    and other papers.  Ben'dar gives them a tour of the place.
    the patrolmen are impressed and tell him they will be on
    routine patrols in the area for a few weeks.

  Night 82 - 7:12pm

    Ben'dar and 2 other trainers are riding in the hills on
    excercising some horses when they find a campfire in the
    distance.  They go to investigate and notice there are 3
    dwarves in the camp.  Unusual to spot such in marentian
    they enter and scare the dwarfs.  But when its clear they
    are not in danger they calm down.  Ben'dar or the guards
    do not understand their tongue but one of the Dwarfs know
    sign language and ben'dar happens to know a little.  Through
    that they talk for a short time as best they can.  Seems they
    are there to mind a mountain about 15 miles away they are going
    after with another clan of dwarves they believe to be there.
    Both groups leave on good terms.  

  Night 83 - 5:53am

    Before sunrise Ben'dar gets up to inspect the new horse he
    acquired recently and to attent to chores.  He also has
    a budget meeting with the Steward later that day.  As he
    walks out the house he carries his spear and walks toward
    the corral.  He notices there are only 2 guards on patrol
    in the immediate area at this hour.  A noise alerts his
    attention and he walks among the horses.  At the end of
    the long corral he spots 4 mangy creatures, later he learns
    to be Cu Sidhe.  They seem to be attacking a young horse
    and one has a bite on its lag.  He could run back to get
    his bow but might hit other horses.  Ben'dar decides to
    mount a horse and grab his spear for combat.  He hollers
    toward one of the guards to help him.  Ben'dar charges
    one creature nad stabs down doing 7 points of damage.  He
    then turns the horse around and runs to the side.  Teh
    creatures give chase but ben'dar dodges their strikes from
    below.  Ben'dar then turns around and stabs down with the
    spear on another impacting solidly on its shoulder killing
    the creture with one blow.  One creature tries to bite
    Ben'dar but misses.  The other tries to bite the horse he
    is on but the horse kicks the creature off with minor damage
    to itself.  Ben'dar strikes but misses one creature entirely.
    By now the guard comes and kills one creature.  The other
    creature flees into the countryside.  The fourth creature
    is still holding tight on the horse it was first attacking
    trying to bite down.  The horse by now has fallen pry to
    paralytic poison and fallen.  Ben'dar and the guard come
    around and kill the creature.  But by now the horse has
    suffered some rib damage.  Both horses damaged in the battle
    take a few days to recover but do eventually recover with
    soem help from the trainers.

  Night 86 - 4:22am

    Ben'dar is awoken to a banging on the door.  He arrives to
    find a trainer saying theres a disturbance behind the
    buildings.  A guard was attacked by creatures.  He has
    called for the other guards to rally.  Ben'dar grabs his
    bow and magical pike.  He finds his horse and joins the
    others to find the creatures.  It doesn't take long as
    the screams are heard.  Two giants, Ogres, are trying to
    tear a guard apart.  The only thing keeping the guard alive
    is his sword from fending off the giants but he is losing
    ground.  Ben'dar and the guards charge.  A fierce battle
    ensues.  It takes 6 guards to kill one ogre with 2 of them
    injured but later recover.  The other 3 guards and Ben'dar
    attack the other Ogre.  After about 15 seconds the second
    ogre dies.  Ben'dar gets in 17 points to it while the other
    guards get the rest.  Ben'dar does take a 5 point wound
    in the process however.  

  Day 87 - 4:16pm

    Whiel ben'dar rests from his wound a group of 5 peasants enter
    the ranch and ask that a guard and a trainer visit their
    hamlet to help them with a horse delivery that is in trouble.
    They can't afford to pay but do offer food in barter to the
    ranch employees.

  Day 88 - 1:32pm

    Two mounted Marentian guardsman on patrol enter the ranch
    and give news that a vilalge in teh mountains is in eeed
    of some horses and give directions.  The steward will assign
    a trainer to travel there to get some details with the
    sales person.

  Night 88 - 3:32am

    Ben'dar restless wakes up and decides to walk around the
    quiet ranch.  AFter almost 3 months in Marentia he feels
    he is ready for some change or at least a change of
    pace of activity.  As he mounts his horse and grabs his
    spear and bow he decides to go rabbit hunting.  A good
    rabbit would hon his riding ombat skills a bit and give
    a good lunch.  He exits the ranch and heads into the
    hills in the darkness.  The fraction of the moon is enough
    to ride by.  As he rides he hears snorts and grunts and is
    surprised to see a Troll, a Rock Troll in the distance
    with its lumbering body.  Its carrying a club.  It doesn't
    seem to notice Ben'dar.  Its waddling away but then stops
    and turns as it may sniff the air for the horse.  It grunts.
    Ben'dar draws his bow and readies it.  The Troll now having
    senses its prey charges forward toward the horse. Ben'dar
    gets off 5 shots with the bow hits twice for 7 points on
    the troll but misses three times.  He puts his bow on his
    shoulder an draws his horse up and grabs his spear.
    Ben'dar charges but misses.  The troll swings his club and
    hits but is a light tap no damage past the leather armor.
    Ben'dar tries again but misses.  The troll swings and fumbles!
    His club goes flying to the ground some distance away.
    Ben'dar gets 3 free attacks but misses 2 and hits one but
    does 10 points to the troll before it picks up his club.  The
    troll swings but misses.  Ben'dar thrusts with his spear and
    impacts doing 10 points.  The troll falls to the ground.
    Ben'dar hops down and stabs the troll killing him.
    Ben'dar not wounded rides back to the ranch for breakfast.

  Day 89 - 7:25am

    Ben'dar is alerted by a guard while eating breakfast of a large
    flying creature circling.  He later finds it to be a Roc.  It
    circles the ranch.  By now Ben'dar has his bow and mounts his
    horse.  He knows rocs like to hit horses.  He has to protect
    his merchandise that is in the open corral.  The Roc does a
    sudden dive toward the corral.  Ben'dar loads and fires his
    bow.  First hit does a whopping 23 points.  The second shot
    hits for 11 points.  Just as the Roc is about to hit a horse
    the Roc reels from the wound and dives back up the sky and
    flies away massively hurt.  It flies toward the nearby
    mountains.  


   These encounters are how yours will look when they are completed.
   They are rough and not detailed in terms of phase per phase
   combat.  Your encounters may vary based on your actions and
   areas your in for the 3 months.
