     [Recap]
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    [New Stuff]

GM: As I warned at the start of this adventure thigns were slightly
harder and tougher. Don't understimate a giant. Hes still quite
dangerous but I'm sure you guys can handle it. With that said what
I do below is not personal. Its purely random at times (80%) and
planned actions (20%). So if your hurt below its not personal.
At this point I don't know what will happen. I actually never
do until it occurs. I've actually been surprised myself with
the results NPCs and monsters do. :) But to get back to fun
let's start with a joke from the Joke Dwarfs.

Q: What's the difference between a girlfriend and a wife?
     A: 45 pounds.
                        ---------------------------

Octaqi 14, in the 163rd Year [TH]
Location: River Sch (E) Riverbank, Zen'da Plains, 306 Miles
North of Asichi City, Heading East from River
       [2:14am]

     [Turn 1: Phase 3]

       [Mana Allocation]

[Caladan, Strie'bog and Z'leyra allocates some more mana.]

       [Missile Fire]

[None yet. Since no one can see the Giant yet.]

       [Magic Effect]

[Strie'bog starts the spell for Fire Arrow but still must
          need more time..]

[Z'leyra casts a quick Dark Sight spell and can now see
          very good in the dark.]

[Caladan slows his spell words to lengthen the spell out
until he can use it (when giant is seen).]

[All of a sudden the ground around the campfire begins
to rumble...and make noise...then the land seems to
convulse and shake. Surprised the party finds themselves
in the middle of a earthquake. The campfire at I62+I63
on the map suddenly begins to shake and the logs collapse.
Then the earth opens up and creates a fast shifting
chasm. It runs from campfire to west and campfire to the
east. The chasm on the map is the open space on rows H
and I and columns 52-67. Its 50 feet wide (West to East)
and little over 5 feet wide (North to South). The hole
drops 5..10..15..and stops at 32 feet below the surface
level. A great open chasm is formed as rocks, sand and
other items fall in. This includes the campfire itself
which is a 5x5 area in itself. The embers, ash, logs
and the live fire dive deep in the hole and are doused by
the sand and debris. Only a few red embers are left. This
seriously hinders the party further by making any light
now non-existant other than Balrog's torch. The lantern
previously mentioned falls into the chasm and is broken.

The horses go crazy during this and try to break free of
their ropes as they are scared of the action. Unfournately
7 people are either on the chasm ground or around it. This
          could be a dire situation....

The dogs at H53 are caught. But they leap just in time
to save their lives. Pogo leaps to the north while
Ventrius leaps to the south (G53/I53).

Trembyl doesn't see it coming. The chasm opens under his
feet so fast he can't react. He falls his rolls to
avoid the fall. He drops so fast his arbalest goes flying
from his hands as well as his sleeping gear (blanket
and other gear). He falls the 32 feet down and hits the
ground hard. He is badly hurt in the fall.

Xian is able to deftly avoid the chasm as he leaps back
to the north side of the cashm just as he sees Trembyl
fall down into the hole and not move anymore. Some
of Xian's gear (bedroll, blanket, etc.) fall into the
          hole however.

Strie'bog just north of Xian is shaken by the ground
and tumbles. He tries to avoid the chasm but starts
to slip in when his footing loses balance. But just
then Boyzdar leaps and with his wolf canines grabs
onto Strie'bog's tunic just in time. Straining the
wolf drags strie'bog the few inches needed to regain
his balance from falling the 32 feet down. Exhausted
from the sudden help the wolf whimpers. Likely his
teeth aches a bit. Strie'bog slumps to the ground
panting as well and finds his bow is not in his hands
          anymore.

Chion 5 feet to the south of the opening chasm is in
no danger from falling in but almost falls down as
the ground shakes but he regains his balance and stays
          standing...

Z'leyra on the edge of the chasm is able to leap back
a couple feet and avoid falling in..but unfournately
she notices some of her gear including her blanket
          slip down into the chasm...

Caladan behind Z'leyra slightly is able to maintain
          his balance like Chion.

Unali on the edge fins herself going on pure reflex
and leaps to the north just in time to avoid falling
in. Unfournately her tent does not fare so well and
          slips into the chasm.

GM: 1 out of 7. Not bad. Could've been worse.

       [Melee & Movement]

[Ben'dar mounts his horse and notices the chasm open
up as he does. The horses are scared including his
and he notices Trembyl down below. Ben'dar looks
to the west and unsure what to do.]
GM: Call it a stunned shock inaction event. Since I'd
figure this is what one would do in such cases.

[Kasha turns his horse back toward the east and notices
          the campfire go down.]

[Thig spots the Giant and tries to determine the best
place to fire his crossbow at it. But its fast
moving...he flies forward in hopes to get a point
          blank shot next round.]

[Farseeker hears the rumble and looks over his shoulder
but stays waiting for the giant to arrive. If they
          can see it.]

[Balrog waves his torch and realizes he is now the only
target with light. Not a good thing.]

[Unali looks to the west. She quickly regains her
concentration and heads north then turns left toward
the west with daggers in hand.]

[The giant makes himself visible as he charges right
for Balrog. He towers a good 10 feet over Balrog
even on his tall horse. The giant grabs Balrog
like a rag doll and lifts him off the horse. Balrog
drops the torch to the ground at the Giant's feet.
He still holds his sword as he is lifted high into the
sky and thrown down onto the ground 3 feet away. This
does a devastating 7 point blow and knocks the wind out
         of him.]

[Balrog tries to lift his sword but is too stuned and
         tries to regain his breath.]

[Caladan sees the Giant and runs toward it.]

[Z'leyra sees the giant as well and moves toward it
         while invisible.]

[Both dogs charge toward the Giant as well.]

[Jordi moves westward toward the Giant. He moves now and
can fire directly over Balrog right at the giant some
22 feet away a good shot next phase.]

[Chion can now see the Giant]

[Strie'bog gains his balance and sees his bow a couple
feet away...and some arrows that fell out of his quiver
during the fall. He grabs his bow and a arrow. He
stands and sees the Giant About 60 feet away should
be able to fire next phase if wish.]

[The eagle takes a high flying roll and then dives toward
         the Giant...]

[Xian drops to his knees and looks down the chasm at Trembyl
and sees him not moving. Its so dark hes not sure if
his eyes are open or not but the campfire embers just give
a faint glimmer of light in the chasm. Xian yells out.]
Xian: "Trembyl has fallen into the pit!"

[Xian looks at his gear and realizes he doesn't carry
rope. But Caladan does...he looks for Caladan's gear
as he tries to figure out what to do. Then he comes
         up with a plan...]

     Actions? Comments?
     Next update Friday...

     Comments
     1. Did only 1 phase this combat due to the unique situation.
Figured you might wnat to change actions or do other stuff
not previously stated. So only 1 phase this time. Unsure
if I'll do 2 phases next update or not.
     2. Light - only light around is the single tar torch that is
directly at the feet of the Giant. If he steps on it or
it goes out on its on theres no light. This will affect
fire for those who can't see in the dark. It will
be harder to attack. So hope it doesn't go out or he
steps on it. Course with a 3 feet long foot its possible
he can stomp on it. The campfire is now only embers
in the 32 foot chasm that only lights up a finite area.
     3. No one sees the face of the giant at this point.
he is wearing gauntlets on his arms, no shirt and some
kind of leather/animal skin pants. All the detail you
can see at this point other than his 16 foot height and
        around 800-850 pounds.
     4. Horses are still scared and trying to free themselves.
     5. Notice the melee movement above for when the Giant moves
        in comparison to other oflks.

That should be it. Let's rumble :)

Cheer up. Giant might only kill half of you guys before it
gets upset and really really mad!

      But alas let's relax...

Q: What's the difference between a boyfriend and a husband?
      A: 45 minutes
