     Game Update #273 in sequence (file #465)
     Admin notes:  Just a note.  For some reason I've come across some
     email related issues.  Some missing emails that don't seem to
     be getting to cyberspace or to the proper list or folks.  You
     can always check the website for the updates.  I will tend to
     "Ack" your actions sent to me as an acknowledgement.  That's
     one way of making sure your stuff gets to me.  Anyways, I gotta
     sit and tackle this problem and see what's going on.  Stay tuned.
     [Recap]     - None
     [New Stuff  - Current Situation]

        From Unali: [Re: Actions]
          Unali realises that the group is getting to spread out,
          with people at the lower level locking guards and nurses
          into the cells and the group spread out over many locations
          (two, three at least, she doesn't know it is more like five
          already). They just can't afford to take more prisoners
          now that the alarm is raised and she decides to kill the
          guard that shot her, with regret, but deemed necessary for
          the safety of the group.

          Therefore, once she can attack the guard, she will do so
          with both daggers to kill. Once the guard is out she will
          decide on further actions, depending on the layout of the
          hallway she is in.
        GM: Ack.

        From Z'leyra: [Re: Actions]
          Seeing that the hall appears clear of further opponents
          Z'leyra opens the door to the south and looks (probably
          enters unless it looks very threatening) into the room.

          I lost the address to reply to the list when my computer
          died. I can find it. Would you prefer I use it?

          Okay, I didn't read the update carefully enough. Change
          of plan.
          Z'leyra chases after the man who just yelled, hopefully
          opening the door before he can lock it.
        GM: For the address check out the reply header to this
          email or the above right above the update #.  Ack.

        From Jordi: [Re: Actions]
          Jordi charges towards the four climan guards. If they
          try to retreat throught the door, he tries to follow
          them and also tries to avoid that they close the door.

          When Jordi reaches the guards, his first attack will be
          directed against the archer -if he hasn't drop the bow
          and it's posible to attack him without giving flank or
          rear advantatge to another clyman guard- and then,
          remaining attacks will be directed against the climan
          in chain mail, unless in doing so Jordi has to offer
          flank or rear to another guard.
        GM: Ack.


      Time: Estimated  6:48am-7:03am  - Morning Day 22

      [The following actions occur roughly at the smae time frame.
       Since there are 5 areas of action the precise timing is
       a bit skewed but the critical 2 areas the west hallway
       ones I'm going to try to keep on the same second time
       frame.  So bear with me...]

      [Level 5 - Hallway to level 6]

         [Triest and the others make it up the sloping stairs.]
         Triest: "This place gives me the creeps.  With that thing
           Xian described he could be right here and we'd never
           know it.."
         Kasha: "Yeah.  Let's hurry.."

         GM: By the end of the update they'll be on level 6.

      [Level 6]

         [East hallway - South]

           [The light goes out and darkness falls on this section of
            the hallway.  Unali charges the last known position for
            the guard.  But the guard has time to drop her sling
            and pull out her tulwar.  Unali swings both daggers.
            One hits doing 5 points of damage as it punctures her
            side.  The other dagger misses by a half inch.  The
            guard swings tulwar and misses doing her down swing by
            two inches to the left of Unali.  Unali swings both
            daggers again one misses just as it swings up throught
            the arm and hits the guard under the arm.  The blade
            slides down her arm.  The other hits on her left side
            doing 4 more points of damage.  The guard swings side
            to side now but Unali is able to dodge and duck below
            the tulwar blade.  Finally Unali swings both daggers
            and one does a deadly hit doing the final blow to
            kill the guard.  Three phases a bit longer than usual
            for Unali.  When the guard falls Unali realizes she
            is a female.  Unali gently lets the body fall to the
            ground then stands up.  Her eyes adjust to the
            darkness and she notices a flicker of light down the
            hall.  She travels the remaining 100 feet or so to find
            the tunnel dead ends.  There she finds a simple wooden
            door not even with a lock on it.  She listens in to
            find no sounds inside.  She opens it quietly to find
            a 24x20 small sqaure room that looks like a latrine with
            two open stalls, wash basin and bench.  Compared to the
            other latrine this seems more higher class with a cushioned
            bench, towels and a brass wash basin.  Must be some kind
            of officer latrine.  From the door she finds it empty.
            She closes the door and looks back up the 200 feet to
            the hallway.  It looks like forms are moving about in
            the open hallway.  She quickly retreats up the hallway...]

         [East hallway - North]
          [Phaser 1]

           [Kaylle cringes from the combat and backs away to decide
            if he should get inolved.  It looks like somewhate
            even numbers so he figures the group will win the battle.]

           [Caladan moves first.  Too close for magic and missile fire
            in danger of hitting the others.  So he pulls out his
            warstaff from his back and charges the enemy.  He
            gets the 30 feet closer and swings his warstaff right
            at guard #6 and smacks him in the shoulder doing 5 sevre
            bruising damage to the female guard with the mace.]

           [Gaurd #4 with chain and sword thrusts at Caladan nearest
            them now but is just inches too far away and misses..]

           [Chion looks to the north to make sure no doors are open
            then down the hall where Unali went then back to the
            group of enemy fighters..]

           [Jordi charges the Bowman running after Caladan the 25
            or so feet.  He thrusts his elven sword at the guard
            but fails to hit the guard.]

           [Suresh charges forward with sword and thrusts at guard
            #5 but fails to hit in the quick swing..]

           [Guard #5 swings on Suresh with mace but does not hit..]

           [Guard #6 swings mace on Caladan and hits Caladan in the
            arm doing minor skin damage of 2 points..]

           [Guard #7 the bowman drops his bow and grabs his dagger
            from the belt and thrusts at Jordi.  He fails to strike.
            He then realizes the dagger is much shorter than the
            sowrd Jordi is using and regrets dropping the bow.]

          [Phaser 2]

           [Kaylle wonders why Chion is not doing anything...]

           [Caladan swings the warstaff with both hands hard on
            the grip.  The staff swings high above the ducking
            head of the guard and fails to hit.]

           [Guard #4 swings on Caladan but the sword smacks into
            the staff and fails to do damage..]

           [Jordi swings again at the bowman but fails to hit
            for the blow was wide.]

           [Suresh swings on #5 but again fails to hit...]

           [Guards #5-7 all three thrust and swing but fail to
            hit their targets...]

          [Phaser 3]

           [Caladan swings again at Guard #6 and smacks the guard
            in the chest from the side doing crushing damage of
            5 more points which crushes ribs of the female guard.
            She goes flying against the nearby rock wall and slides
            down to the floor..]

           [Guard #4 swings behind Caladan again but fails to hit
            just as he steps away.]

           [Jordi thrusts at the Bowman and punctures through
            lung tissue doing 6 points of damage which is enough
            to kill the bowman.]

           [Suresh swings on Guard #5 again but does not hit..]

           [Guard #5 swings mace at Suresh but hits the rock wall
            and crushes stone and sends dirt flying.  The impact
            damages the mace..]

          [Phaser 4]

           [Caladan turns toward Guard #4 in the chainmail and
            swings warstaff again.  He hits her on the left
            shoulder but at such an angle the staff hits neck
            and shoulder as well.  The force is so strong that
            it cracks shoulder blade and compresses the neck
            main artery doing 8 points of damage.  The female
            guard is in one quick strike killed.  This actually
            surprises Caladan...]

           [Jordi turns to swing on Guard #5 with sword.  He
            does a side lifting swing and hits the guard's
            wooden buckler shield.  The full impact completely
            breaks the shield into 4 pieces and falls off the
            guard's arm.  But no damage beyond that...]

           [Suresh joins Jordi and thrusts sword at the guard.
            The sword impales the upper right chest doing 5
            points of damage.]

           [Gaurd #5 swings mace at Suresh.  But Suresh is able
            to dodge the strike just in time and he misses
            a certain hit that would've hurt.]

          [Phaser 1 / Turn 2]

           [Caladan raises his warstaff high above his head and
            bashes the remaining guard #5 with the staff right
            smack on the head.  The full force crushes skill
            and bone doing 14 points of damage.  The poor guy
            had a helmet but even that doesn't help.  The guard
            is ded from brain damage before he hits the floor..]

          [Jordi looks at the door they came through.  He then
           pushes it open and enters the room.  There he finds
           a small square room.  It has a small desk with one
           chair.  It also has a table with 4 chairs.  A simple
           sentry post it seems.  No one else is there.  The
           table has some dice and cards on it but they seem
           stacked as if not played recently.]

          [While Jordi examines this room Caladan and Suresh
           notice the second hallway.  They go down about 40
           feet down to a door.  They listen but find no noise.
           So they enter.  They find a dimly light room by
           a small lantern on the wall that is half bright.
           They notice a small drawer/desk with a mirror and
           chair in front.  They also notice a small enclosed
           area with a wall.  Suresh approaches and opens the
           small wooden flap doors to find a latrine outhouse
           type setup.  The air smells a bit perfumed.  With
           the smell, enclosed space and the mirror drawer
           a quick conclusion is made.]
          Caladan: "Must be for females or--"
          Suresh: "Priestesses.  We must warn the others.."
          [They quickly return to the main hall.]

         [West Hallway - North]

          [Z'leyra heads west to the door which had the man pop
           open.  Farseeker meanwhile tries the door to his
           direct north which the guard was seeming to guard.
           He finds the door locked.  Rustling noises can be
           heard from inside.  Farseeker backs up then at about
           8 feet charges right at the door jumping to kick
           the door.  With his heavy stregnth the kick is hard
           and does cracking damage.  The force causes the door
           to burst open and off its wooden frame hinges.  

           Z'leyra checks her door and finds it locked.  NEva
           watches Farseeker enter the room and backs him up
           with her bow at the ready.  Xian distracted watches
           Z'leyra and then notices the room to the south.]]

           Farseeker notices a male sitting behind a desk.  He
            seems to be burning some scrolls by a candle on the
            desk.  The room is lit up by a torch on the far wall.
            Farseeker rounds the desk and swings his great sword
            to his left at the male.  The sword slices his left
            upper arm doing 5 points of damage.  The man standa
            and grabs his sword from the desk and swings at
            farseeker he hits the side of the chest but does
            not penetrate Farseeker's armor.  Neva at the door
            and only a few feet away fires her bow at the guard
            with a easy target range.  The arrow penetrates the
            man's lower abdomen and does the final death blow.
            Farseeker seeing this sweeps the body off the desk
            with his sword and tries to put out the scrolls on fire.

            Watching Farseeker on a whim Z'leyra backs up and
            tries to kick the door.  On the first attempt she
            cracks the door and damage it.  She backs up and
            kicks again but does not even scratch the door tht time.

            Xian tries the door and finds it locked.  He turns away
            but then notices something strange...]

         [West Hallway - South]

           [Thig sees the three in front of him and hears Aren/Valgor
            approaching from behind.  He aims his repeating crossbow
            while evading the guard near him and the arbalest held
            by the bodyguard (?) of the priestess.  He fires his
            repeating crossbow but the bolt completely misses the
            targeted priestess by 4 feet.  A complete miss.

            The bodyguard aims carefully his Arabalest at Thig
            and fires estimating his movements.  The attack does
            hit amazingly and does 5 points of damage.  Thig takes
            damage for the first time.

            Thig knows if he goes invisible its possible teh others
            would be attacked by magic.  At least with his magic
            defense he might hae a chance.  So if he stays visible
            he could at least avoid the magic and not endanger the
            others.  Upon seeing the priestess he formed a quick
            plan.  First step is to warn the others.  He casts a

            Valgor turns to Aren: "Warn the others.  Run!"
            [Aren turns and runs...He knows he isn't a fighter
             and has to get reinforcements...]

         [West Hallway - North]

           [Z'leyra attempts a 3rd kick but suddenly she feels a
            tingle in her head.  She stops and looks around.
            She suddenly senses danger.  But wait shes not
            cast her clarivoyance spell lately?  The danger
            sense gets stronger then suddenly she feels a voice
            in her head.

            "Priestess!  South Hallway.  Nee-" [Then a ow! yelp
              and its cut off.  That voice.  It could only be
              Thig's high pitched nasal voice.  He has used
              a telepathic spell before while first on the island.
              Must be using it again.  A strong emotion of pain
              is felt.]

         [West Hallway - South]

             [Thig does a mental count only two shots left before
              he'll have to reload.  But at least now the Arbalest
              is empty for some time.  He could back up and wait
              for help but flying backward is not easy and takes
              concentration.  During which he may not be able
              to evade attacks at the same time.]

             [At the same time Thig sends to Z'leyra...]

             [The priestess having previously be advised and warned
              by the shout of the guard finishes her big spell.
              She steps to the side of the bodyguard and pulls back
              both arms.  Then she murmurs a few words and pushes
              her arms out hand in hand and a small ball of spinning
              mass emits from her hands.  It flies past Thig and
              he notices it looks like water or something.  But where
              it lands he doesn't know.  It flies past him and goes
              another 20-30 feet.  It finally lands near Valgor.
              The watery ball lands right near Valgor in front of
              him about a foot and suddenly a burst of energy/water
              and slime spring out.  It one instant it grows into a
              complete large pool of acidic Slime.  The slime expands
              into a quickly formed 35 foot diameter area.

              Unfournately Valgor is almost in the center of the pool.
              He quickly sinks down inches and more inches at least
              over 3 feet.  It quickly gets up to his knees and a few
              inches above it.  He screams in pain and takes an immediate
              8 points of damage.  Forgot Trembyl again, he is also
              affected by the pool and takes 7 points of instant damage
              as well.  

              Aren turns the corner just as he hears a watery splash and
              a scream.  He almost stops and goes back to help but
              he knows it may be too late to help.  
              Guard #12 near Thig takes the time of confusion and
              swings Mace at Thig but he is just able to evade it
              in time..

      [Level 1 - Outside]

          [The four look up to the mountain the entire party is in
           and where they are returning to.  There they see high
           on the top of the mountain it seems to be surrounded
           in a thin circle by a layer or cloud of smoke or fog.
           But the white/grayish part of it shifts to black in
           some areas.  Energy discharges can be seen in the thin
           layer as well like lightning...]
          Qorz: "What the heck is that?"
          Talz: "Fog?"
          Qorz: "Fog from the ocean this time of day possible but
            what are those flashes?"
          Female: "I'm not going back there!"
          Qorz: "Oh yes you are!  Its probably just heat lightning
            and fog.  It'll be safe."
          [But in fact Qorz and Talz glance at each other in a quiet
           agreement that it may be more than that...]

    Ok.  Sorry for the delays.  I started work on it back on monday
    but kept running out of time.  Then tonight I ran into what I
    dreaded the spell.  Being GOD (Games Operational Director) I
    was able to view all timelines.  Unfournately in one timeline
    Aren was surcomb to the spell and killed instantly by the slime.
    Valgor and Trembyl would soon die.  Fournately I asked fate to
    give a second chance.  I then remembered that Trembyl was always
    forgotten and that he would take the damage and Aren would flee
    just ouf of the slime.  So that worked out for this update.  Aren
    could always die later but he has a different destiny.  I know
    I probably shouldn't even explain this but I wanted to explain
    it is a serious situation.  Anyways, I also had another problem
    with GM interpretation of the Slime spell.  The Effect Area is
    listed as ".  Well ok.  So a EL10 has effect area of 5"?  Is
    that inches or tactical inch (1 inch being 10 feet).  Well
    You'd have to be powerful to have a big pool to be any effect
    otherise anyone with just a 5 inch pool could step out easilly
    or avoid it.  So I figure that must be the tactical version of
    50 feet diameter.  That's better and makes more sense.  Thus
    the above.  You'll notice the hallway is 20 feet wise so the
    slime pool fills the right side of the hallway.  Thus the :
    is the area effected.

    Problem is Jordi's group is at least 200-220 feet away.
    Oddly enough so is Z'leyra's group 200-220 feet.
    Those just coming up the entrance are 190 feet.

    That's the problem.  Even at full running speed that'll take
    at least 30 seconds (8-9 phases).  Since the slime is damaging
    every phase that's a long time.  It may be up to Valgor and
    Trembyl alone with the help of Thig to survive.

    Then the problem is the priestess can lay seige and be
    protected by the same pool for days.  Kaylle could reach
    it in about 10 seconds flying.  Thig will have to make
    a choice as to who to save while the other suffers.  It
    will be a hard choice.  

    Well due to the delay I can TRY for a update saturday.  I
    will be home all weekend (not working) so can work on ti.  But
    only if you guys want me to.  If your too busy to reply then
    let me know and I can hold off till monday.  No problem.
    But for these updates time is a big factor here for survival
    of Valgor/Trembyl.
