For the e-books, one of the ideas that I am working with in my own company
is to get a email list (more than this one) and send them an e-book portion
of the game that is playable, yet not all options or something like that,
similar to sharware. Then we offer a deal for purchase, either e-book full
or hardcopy, at a discount rate for a short period of time. At the same time
we also setup online games and offer people to play them and for a small
cost (maybe a little more than just the books) they get to play and get the
materials, plus special updates before they come out in book form or
magazines.

The only issue to this is getting an email list that we can send this info
out on.
