Well I seem to read somewhere in the books (can't find it in the typed rules I
typed up long ago) the movement rate for sea was 60 miles per day (so I assume
that assumes a 'standard' ship - ie a merchant ship or something).  So that 80
mile figure isn't too far fetched.

As you implied the polynesian ships were small but they travelled ALL over the
pacific which is obviously greater than the Sea of Tears (G)
